Gil has been the MVP for us Todd related fans since 2018!
I had the extreme pleasure and honor of attending Kasim's last show (March 13th, 2020) before covid shut down the world. Band hung out and talked with fans for a LONG time after the show. Kasim (and band mates) couldn't have been more sincere, affable, and generous with their time. I'll never forget that night.
Truth u speak....wonderful humans
I would have attended Kasim Sulton's Utopia if performed on the West Coast. I saw the 2018 Tour (filmed it), also my father goes back to RA in 77 at San Jose Civic!
Dang they are good. Love the vocals and Gil on keys. 👍
Utopia was such an underrated band! Thank you Kasim for keeping Utopia alive!

Love you Kasim! And Glasys!!!!
Fantastically good band altogether. Backing vocals deserve a special mention.
lots of them are on tape.. backing tracks.
Great concert! What a band. Loved it. Kasim is as charming as ever. I saw UTOPIA in concert in the '80s and it was incredible.
HEY KAZ !? JUST CUZ MR.RUNDGREN IS TIRED OF PLAYING UTOPIA SONGS DOESN'T MEAN WE'RE TIRED OF HEARING THEM. THANK YOU KAZ AND THE BAND !! LOVE YOU ALL KEEP PLAYING THEM BOYS. 💖💖💖💖💖👏👏👏👏👏👏✌✌✌✌💖💖💖💖
What an incredible band !!! Tight tight TIGHT !!! Kas doesn't age, huh ? Saw Utopia in a small club in the early 80's ... stood right in front of the stage and proceeded to lose my mind! Best concert of my life. BRAVO Kasim and band !!!
I am watching this yet again, amazed at just how good it is. Great tunes, great performances and killer sound. It also highlights just how integral Kasim has been for Utopia and Todd's various projects. I mean, he is a tremendous bassist, plays great guitar, writes cool tunes, sings a well as the best, harmonises with anyone, can play so many styles, has great musical sensibilities... So why hasn't the world noticed? Ditto for Todd? Both are giants. Those so-called music fans still clinging to the cliche 'cool' bands of yore still have time to jump on this train called The Magic and Music of Kasim, Todd & Utopia...magic music that continues to move us into the future while keeping the past in the picture. Nobody else does it better.
Funny you should say that. I've been a Todd/Utopia fan since I was a teen in the mid-70's, have seen Todd and Utopia literally 40 or more times, and it never ceases to amaze me how Todd, and by association Kaz, and both iterations of Utopia, have slipped through the cracks of large scale fame. Maybe it's better that way. Well-kept secret? I'm guessing Todd is happy with his lot in life. I've seen interviews where he even says that he's very happy with where he stands in the pantheon of the rock and roll circus. Todd fans are about as loyal as it gets, and he knows this. Just saw him in April, 2024 and he is just as fabulous as the first time I saw him, which was the Utopia RA tour. And Kaz? He's everything you say and more. He was on bass/vocals for this last tour, and I even said to my daughter (another Todd fan for life at 15), that Kaz's voice just shines through the whole mix.
@@ChristopherJanisch-cc5nc Yes, Todd is probably somewhat okay with his status and too busy to let it concern him. He learned early what it is like to be tied down with big hits and thus locked into a timeframe that has stymied the potential for the market to accpt him evolving on his own terms. . Still, it would be nice, IMO, if he and the lads were at least acknowledged on a higher level...like Todd's hero Jeff Beck. Jeff suffered a similar fate in the UK with debut solo single 'Hi Ho Silver Lining'. He said it was like having a pink toilet seat hanging 'round his neck for the rest of his career. Though he didn't have much in the way of hits, the respect for him from his peers, the media and aficionados was evident. By comparison, Todd (and Kasim even moreso) are too well kept in the secrets department.
The link below is Todd in 1969. He should have been renowned as one of the guitar heroes. Also check out the clip of him making like Eric Clapton with John Mayall on YT. And notice the expressions for Mayall and the bassist - they are loving Todd.

Caravan is my favorite song of all time! Incredible song from Adventures.
For Kaz to go deep in the Utopia catalog before he was in the band just shows how much respect he has for the music.
Agreed dude kaz is the man! He even emailed me back.
Love this music, and he does it so great. They just sound stellar! Great job by all.
Gil channeled his "Inner Roger Powell" on Caravan. Awesome!
I saw Utopia at Asbury Park in 1976. Kasim looked like a 14-year-old Paul McCartney playing amazing bass and vocals. I think it was one of his first shows. Utopias magic is surely captured here with this lineup :)
WATCHED THE WHOLE THING!!! Kasim rules and what a band!!!!
Awesome, his voice is as strong as ever.
Outstanding cross-section of (oft, rarely and never performed) Utopia gems with a few (TR solo nuggets and Nick Lowe penned classic) covers tossed in to make the setlist even more intriguing and enjoyable.
Thank you for; posting/sharing this incredible show... and archiving it for future generations.
Glorious music. This is so great. Kasim and the band playing with great feel. Keep Utopia music alive by playing it live. Thank You.
I saw Kasim in the early '80s when he released his first solo effort @ The Roxy in LA. I caught the sound check, and greeted Kasim. Diggin'the Good Music here in Northern Alberta Canada 🇨🇦❤️🎶🔈🔉🔊🎸
Fantastic!!!! Thanks!
Really great! Thanks
Love it!
What an amazing show. Well done.
71 likes and ZERO dislikes... and rightfully so. Kaz gets it done here. Everything he does is just... he does it GOOD. I like hearing him sing
His voice is unique.
Outstanding!
Wow, this was really good!
Todd and Kazim and Utopia were a huge influence and continue to be. I have been lucky enough to enjoy my life in the entertainment business as well through their influence. Thanks D Hall for hosting these fellas... love it!!!
as always, JD
love this! ❤
I wasn't aware of this at all! Amazing! 5 star performance all the way through. Congratulations Kasim and the band.
digging the drum sounds - great mix!
GREAT!!
Great band, PLUS, whoever mixed this, KUDOS it sounds great too
Rock on Kasim! Thanks for the amazing music!
Pretty ballsy kaz ....theme to Utopia. Wow ! Clean and neat kaz.💖👍👍👍
Nice to see Andy Ascolese on drums and backup vocals.Andy is a multi-talented musician(Drums,Bass,Keyboards) does yeoman work as a BOC road crew member and sometimes fill in and recently played drums for the Jon Anderson/Band Geeks tour..
Great job you guy's ( keeping the faith)
Kas is a favorite of mine. I would have lost it to be at that show. Glad I can enjoy it here.
Also, I’ve enjoyed Andy (drummer) who often plays with Ritchie Castellano in their enjoyable Band Geek YT channel. Really, the whole band killed it.
3 Cheers for Andy and The Band Geeks!!!
@@danwally6371 indeed … great Yt channel … enjoyed their Genesis and YES covers ✨👍🏼
Great band. Loved the background vocals.
Brilliant !!!
Awesome band...great musicianship ...tight tight tight....so well done.... BRAVO !!!!
This is marvelous. Sometime around 1980 give or take, we drove from LA to Bakersfield and stood right at the stage and saw the four piece Utopia band playing their chrome guitars. What a show. I'll never forget it, they played all of Todd's and Utopia's amazing pop songs.
Great to see them live, even without Roger, and then find this with so many songs they never performed live. Great show.
So enjoyable!! Great players! Great music! Great place!
Fantastic show!!
Thanks Daryl's House!!
Saw the same one in Chicago 3-11-20.
2nd to the last one that Kasim could perform due to COVID shutting them down.
I was at Kasim's show 3/13/2020 in Edwardsville, Illinois, the last one played before Covid shut down America. I'll never forget that date.
Man! Great band!!
Saw this show at Daryl's the year before and in Boston a few nights before this show. The Akron show in Sept 2019 was pretty cool too.
Splendid Mr. S
Kas is an amazing person in every way! I particularly love his sense of humor, intelligence and love of Broccoli Rabe😘.
Todd and Kazim and Utopia were a huge influence and continue to be. I have been lucky enough to enjoy my life in the entertainment business as well through their influence. Thanks D Hall for hosting these fellas... love it!!!
as always, JD john_drew_jd
I saw you for the first time in Indianapolis. recently. I really enjoyed your work. Thanks.
awesome
Awesome ensemble
Great to hear live versions of Lysistrata and Swing To The Right.
Tight vocal harmonies, and great musicians playing with Kasim.
Also, if Kasim was 20 in 1976, and this video is from 2020, then he must have been 63 or 64 here. Looking good for a sextegenerian!
All I can say is
Wow!
Great to see Andy E. behind the skins!! Guys sound great!!! Solo was INSANE!!!!!
@angelosubrosa Hey, John "Willie" was pretty damned good in the day!!!

He said its been a really great year so far and had lots of plans. He had no idea what was about to happen in just a week or so. 😞
Damn. They nailed The Ikon (36:30).
Shit … this kicks ass ✨🙏🏼
Some dude yells "Glass Guitar." Only a very few of us have any idea what he's talking about, but I saw it LIVE in Columbus in about '76 I think! Pyramid, ankh guitars, dragon and everything. Hey, and Kasim didn't fall down, cool! :-)
Was there too. Already a total Todd fan. Concert totally blew my mind FOREVER!
Singring!
does he sing more songs from Deface the music on other videos on RUclips? Love Hoi Poloi !
6:00 starts, finally!
Kasim is a amazing bass player, vocalist and all around musician. When I hear the name Kasim I always think of Todd.
I agree. This is a great show here. I saw Todd and Kasim and Utopia in El Paso back in the late 70’s. Even being a pretty good distance from the stage, I caught a glow in the dark necklace from the other keyboard player that night. I still have it. If I remember correctly, I think it was the liberty hall which I believe was surrounded by the building the El Paso police department was in.
Guitarist looks like Todd Rundgren but doesn't really sound like Todd Rundgren, Singer/Bass player looks like Kasim Sulton and sounds exactly like Kasim Sulton ! :-) They are all great in fact, but too bad there are so many sound cuts all along the show... I wish I saw the original band in France in the late 70's. I bought all their records.

Utopia and Kaz rocks!
Kasim your still so sweet and polite aren't you?
Yes he is, and that's not bad at all for a guy from Staten Island!! ;p-)
What are the names of the other members of the band?
This concert rocked!
Watched the whole video hoping they would play Trapped off of Oops Wrong Planet. For me, that's Kasim's signature song when he was with Utopia.
Great song 👍🏼
Who would sing Todd's part (challenging)
@@thepiledriver7619 True.
I identify with the woman in the front row singing along!
Wokkasamma 👍
Holy moly, I'm over three minutes in and it's still an empty stage and crowd talking! Editing please!
Finally! And they are kicking major ass!!

That guitarist sure looks like Todd!
Is the drummer same guy from Band Geek videos? Great to see Kashmir doing Eutopia hits.
Yes … an awesome drummer
Funny hearing kaz drop f -bombs
Who’s on drums?
Andy Ascolese! He's great in the Band Geeks as well
The guitar player kinda..sorta resembles Todd at certain angles.................
Jeez. Edit the first 5 and a half minutes out
All these guys play better than the original.
save 5 minutes of life.. 5:31
Hello ? Kaz ? WHERE THE HELL ARE YA !! Is this the beginning or the end ?
You owe me 99 dollars or a replacement show for 3/14/20 don't welch out on your debts
You know something.... these guys and kaz are better than Utopia . I know, i know how dare i say such a thing but i've been watching this from the beginning and damn i think i'm right. What do you think ?
Totally agree ! Punchy, precise and sound is amazing ! Kasim's voice is crystal clear.
You owe me 99 dollars or a show
Performed days before the scamdemic shut down live music.
good one, Dick
I was thinking the same.
You’re right ,scamdemic . Here it is Jan . 14th , 2022 and we ‘ re still being sold a pack of lies . I m done . Great show though !
@@jackwezesa1081 Agreed. Can't wait to just walk into a club and watch a band play. * L *
I lost a close colleague during what you call a scamdemic. I also know people who have lost neighbours and relatives and people who are sick with long Covid. This has been and still is a very dangerous disease.
Paul McCartney would be a great replacement for Kasim Sulton when the latter wants to retire.
Uh. No 🤦🏼♀️
Looks like Vinnie Vincent at the front row table! Just sayin.
