It is a 200 gram 10 year old gelatin. A real rough ruby does not have a shiny or glossy texture and the edges should not be round. I'm 100 % sure that it is made from gelatin or molten glass.
There used oil to make it have a glassy sheen or water, Thy do it 90% at times to try and hide inclusions or to make stone look more attractive, Watch gem hunt programs.
I'm a geologist and this stone is earth mined. It may be heated though although I highly suspect... That shine is coming from the oil liquid based to cheat and make the stone more translucent. Also this stone is a very very low quality ruby and won't cost that much
The world's largest cut emerald starting out at 500,000.. It was 25 pounds.. That ruby will need to be cut up into smaller rubies.. It's not 100 percent that the ruby will get the clarity you want..
Perhaps you should get some clay or wax first. Make impression of the rock. It is engraved as most eyes could see. Long ago, this was how some items were marked, that's why the back is smooth.
Also, sapphires, garnets even mandarins, and all have been verified by Los Angeles assayer with mineral identifier machine. I am not even greedy but too old to be hauling around.

LakeErieRats He should have shown it with a light behind it. You have no idea if it is real, anyone can fake a certificate. Also, look at how he is trying to sell it. Why not on something like Ebay? Also, almost 100% of ruby is heat treated to bring out the color. It is not considered bad to do so. I am very skeptical. Without light, without having that in my own two grubby hands to see with my own eyes, I can't see flaws, etc. I am also suspicious because the back has been cut amd polished. This might be a flawed leftover after the good part has been cut away.
+Morwan Abbas: The material can be cleaned with Hydrofluoric acid ranging in strength from 10 percent diluted solution up to 70% full strength concentrate. If I was cleaning it I would start off with 20 percent diluted solution to see how well it tolerates the strength of Hydrofluoric Acid. Meantime that particular piece is just a large low grade piece of rough Mozambique Ruby destined to be glass filled as it would look pretty nasty looking if you cut and polished the stone without glass fill treating it. I see material like that in Bangkok quite often while Mozambique is noted for producing such material.
Not fake rather no big deal as this kind of lower grade large sized red corundum (ruby) is relatively abundant in the rough gemstone market place usually coming from Mozambique, as of late, for the last several years. But the price..???? Well...good luck on that...lol

This ruby has been heat treated and led glass filled. A real rough ruby or sapphire would not have that glassy sheen on it.
