  • The short documentary, directed by GRS CEO and chief gemologist Dr. A. Peretti, along with GRS gemologists Willy Bieri, Lawrence Hahn, and Matthias Alessandri, explores the rough gem, predicts its size, and conducts color grading and UV-fluorescence testing. Surprisingly, it exhibits a striking similarity to the finest Burmese rubies, with a captivating pigeon's blood color and strong fluorescence.
    If you are looking for more background information on the stone, please read the Q&A with Dr. Peretti:

    Great video! I thought I could only see the Estrela in Christie's webpage only. Too see pre-cut process and post-cut product in this video is just overWOWming. Thank you GRS!

    It is incredible that there are people who are professionals in cutting gemstones because of the fact that. You don't want to sell them your raw stones, they will come out after your stones. They are false and even more so are these people who have been working for years making jewelry and even begin to offend you when you tell them that there are rough stones of greater weight and size and they behave like children.

    My only question why this new world record ruby sold for nearly 35 million while the previous record holder is under half the size sold for over 30 million, how or why?

      Creo que puede ser por la procedencia, no es Burma es Mozambique y eso cuenta mucho

    • @Jackaroo.
      @Jackaroo. Год назад +4

      The smaller ruby was a finer cut and quality and it was from the most desired origin being Burma (now Myanmar) while this larger ruby isn’t as fine quality and is from Mozambique which is the second most desirable. It is still a majestic, once in a lifetime ruby, but if it were equal size to the Burma ruby it would only be half or a quarter of the price.

    I cheated and read the description before time to confirm what i thought. Burma no doubt. That big container? Kilos? Omg.
    I was commenting on another vid the guy said pigeon blood. Your cut piece in the teaser is exactly what i was trying to describe to that guy.
    Yours has that monochroic flash, that ever so slight hint of titanium to give it a purple hint of a hint, and along the crown and table i can see the brown from the iron. 👍
    Seeing the rough? Dipyramidial shape in general like corundum tends to be? That body color? Burma. Lol. On the vein on the rough, does it remind you of marble? I saw something like that in another video and thinking, mogok? Marble schist? Yup! Its legit! 😊
    I almost went to GIA till i learned who accredited them. After that? That was that. Plus after a find of mine, its amazing that under immersion you see what looks like mong hsu disease in a tourmaline, they dont want to accept the obvious. I read some articles by them and i said i smell a confluct of interest.
    Some time later i talked to a guy in Bangkok. He saw what i was saying and decided to ask the GIA boss at a place he dealt with. He asked that one about thier thoughts.
    The GIA guy said theyve cooked those toumalines for years with copper and theyve always tested by GIA as copper bearing! Yet baby oil and a scope along with thier own publication says otherwise. Well we cant figure how so we reject it. If you ignore basic geology in these things? Forget it.
    You guys? I definitely have a more favorable opinion off. I hate to see what that 55 carat thing goes for at auction. I havent seen a price guide in years and i dont think us customs would let that through.
    Thanks for posting this freak of nature.
    Kilos??? 😳 wow...

    • @dustybrown4599
      @dustybrown4599 2 месяца назад +1

      It's hard to tell if you're naive, joking, or trolling. You most likely bought red glass or a composite 'ruby,' definitely not a natural, untreated ruby. Amazon sells fake gems. It may serve a purpose for you, but it's not even close to the gem in the video. I don't doubt that yours could look better though.

      @@jimjam6598 Lab ruby is easy to make. That's why it's funny to me that people would spend millions of dollars on rubies just because they were dug out of the ground.
      What if someone figured out how to make synthetic gold. Would dirt gold be worth more than lab gold just because it was dug up? People are so silly. XD
