In my opinion (and experience) those passes ain't that hard to do. None of those two passes went to his teammates, more like into an empty area where they can outrun the defenders. Specially the first one where his teamates (Suarez?) had to run 20+ meters just to get close to the ball (and I think it was eventually owned by the defender). In the second case you can see Messi's face so he could see Vidal (peripheral vision could be up to 110 degree), and that pass wasn't perfect either, just in that derection.
There's nothing wrong with it, in football many times it's rather your teammates' job to 'arrive' the area where they have to, than yours to pass to there feet.
Both those passes of Messi were good, I just say it wasn't that extraordinary and definitely Messi didn't need eyes on the back of his skull. ;-)
