  • Pushing the limits and stretching the boundaries of diamond quality is a great way to achieve the most value out of your center diamond. In this video we go over several different ways to do this and provide stunning visuals to help guide you through the process of diamond shopping.
    - Diamond Clarity: If you are looking for savings to either pocket some cash or put that money towards a larger center-stone you should try to stretch the clarity parameters and consider SI clarity and even I1 in some rare instances. There are certain types of inclusions and patterns to look out for that will present better and be undetectable to the naked eye. You will however always need a visual of the diamond to ensure this. How much savings can you get from going from VS to a good SI clarity (one that is eye clean)? The larger the diamond the more dollar amount savings. For instance on a 1.5 carat diamond it can amount to $2000 while on a 2 carat it can be $5000 and exponentially higher as you keep increasing the carat weight.
    - Diamond Color: For starters, as a preference some people may not mind, and even will prefer, a diamond that shows more warmth to it. Others however want their diamond to look as colorless as possible and are willing to sacrifice only to a certain degree. For round, emerald, cushion brilliant, and asscher color is harder to detect and many clients are drawn to I-J color stones because they face up very nicely
    - Carat Weight and Cut: It's all about the cut- one thing we will never say to sacrifice on is cut because if you do you will end up going backwards and the stone not only lacks sparkle but also looks smaller than its carat weight would suggest. Carat weight is how much a stone weighs when you put it on a scale and in some cases it can be deceiving; if too much of the weight is distributed on the bottom of the stone (too deep) it will have less surface area on top and look small
    - Fluorescence This is something we like to discuss a lot as there is a lot of confusion/differing opinions on this topic; this refers to when a diamond is exposed to UV lights and emits a different color; most of the time your diamond will be under regular lighting and not directly exposed to these conditions. To back up our point further independent GIA studies show that less than 1% of all diamonds exhibit any negative effect of fluorescence which can be a hazy or oily appearance Reference this study: 4cs.gia.edu/en...

Haha, step cut diamonds are good at hiding color and you can't tell a difference between an emerald cut I color and an oval F color... Am I a joke to you? There's clearly a difference

I would love a 2 carat emerald cut on yellow gold thin band and considering a J color. I was wondering if the basket should also be in yellow gold or only the band. I have heard some RUclips videos saying yellow gold looks best with warmer colors because the diamond look whiter in contrast to the yellow gold and others saying that a white basket is best because the white gold will reflect within the diamond and make it appear lighter. What are your thoughts? Thank you

If you go with J color (which is beautiful) would recommend a white gold top to help provide contrast. The yellow metal will actually make the stone appear darker

    These must be lab grown

Incorrect. Lab grown diamonds are cleaner
