    Thanks for making your video. Everything went exactly as you showed. I did the whole job in under 40 minutes. One thing to add for any one doing this. Shove a rag between the A/C unit and the fender well. It will keep you from fishing dropped bolts and sockets down the fender well. Thanks...

      Drop a whole extension down that damn hole. loosened the metal wheel fender and smacked it a few times. Eventually the screw and extension fell out. So if you ever do drop something important down there just take a few bolts off the fender and pull it back and look up in it.

    Great video. i replaced blower motor on a 2000 Blazer LT this past weekend. $47 for the part and a couple of hours of my time. Hardest parts of the whole thing - cutting the rubber shroud; as Mark says, use a sharp knife and be patient, time your time cutting it. Next was removing the hidden bolt on the underside of the shroud; you'll definitely want a 7/32" socket and some universal joints.

    Great video. Didn't know what I had to pull off to get to the motor. This video shows me exactly how to do it. Really like the fast forward video of the actual bolt removal, keeps the video from getting boring. I will put my new blower motor in tomorrow.

    Great video. Thank you. I'll be getting this done today! Obviously, for a newbie, don't try this while your engine is hot. Taking off the coolant hose could be painful if you do. 🥺

    Thanks Mark for uploading the video. I was making a list of important stuff about my grandsons 2003 S-10 Blazer. One of them being that the Blower Motor is under the hood, saving you from having to tear apart & removing the Dashboard like on some models... Plus I like the 2003 Blazer because it has a real 4WD system, instead of the newer 4WD system, with tons of sensors & whatnot added...... One other thing with his is, it only has 110k miles on it.... Big Plus...

    Thank you very much for making this video. My blower motor has been making noise for months now and it quit today. I found your video and followed it to the T. I now have a working bower and no excess noise! Amazing video.

    Something, I've done for years that isn't a permanent fix but will often get you by for several months is to CAREFULLY drill a 1/16 hole in the end of the armature housing (the little hump with the dimple on it) at the end of the blower motor and drip a drop or two of oil in it for lubrication. You can seal it back up with RTV or even super glue. BTW, this video is well done, nice job.

    Old vid but it really helps, thanks. My blower is starting to make strange sounds so I think it will need to be changed soon. There's an inscription on that plastic cover that says something about cut here to remove. I thought "what?" Funny comment about coloring inside the lines.

    I performed this lovely repair today. There's a few details you left out. When trying to cut the cover off a long steak knife is necessary to cut along the bottom. It is impossible to cut underneath the part of the cover that shields the small tube that connects to the motor without cutting the tube so buy a new one before you start. My ECM has only 2 connections which are held on by 2 screws which need a 9/32 socket and the unit is held in place by a large snap or clip. Wadding up some paper towels between the wheel well and the housing will help prevent losing screws and small sockets. You will also need a small putty knife to apply the RTV to the underside of the cover where that tube is. I used blue RTV which makes it easier to to see where you missed. I used 2 inch wide masking tape to hold the bottom screw on the socket while I wrestled it into the screw hole so it didn't get dropped again into never never land. Otherwise your video was a great help. My next project on my 2001 Blazer is a tune up. That # 3 spark plug is a pain.

    • @you2bertoo
      @you2bertoo 9 лет назад

      Yeah I just watched it. That was great. I cut that tube almost in half and wasn't willing to figure out how to remove it completely. So I sealed it up with RTV. The biggest problems I have with these repairs is my eyesight isn't as good anymore so I wear glasses and I might have a little arth in my fingers. Went out to do this in the sunlight and had glare in my glasses. both hose clamps on the tank fell apart from old age (like me) so I used zip ties. I didn't mean to sound snotty. My wife is dumb founded at how good it blows now. My 95 chevy van needs the same thing but money is tight. If I had $200 laying around I'd go get all the parts I need to do the fan on the van and tune up both vehicles. Full size vans make it easy to get to the ignition system so it won't be much of a head ache like the blazer is.

    @mikecantrell4107 5 лет назад

    Thanks! It was a struggle for me but I got it done. You better have a flexible drill bit and small & deep sockets if you want it to go smoothly. The Tretis game of getting the fan out and back in... find the side with the smallest amount of space between the fan and the metal edge. Make sure that side is facing down to allow you to get over the bolt from the coolant reservoir.

    Completed this job today on my son's 2000 Chevy s10. We didn't have to cut the motor out like you did, but everything else was the same. This was a well done video, thank you so much. We took the bolt out of the fender, made it so much easier to remove the motor. Thanks again.

    Anybody that is too afraid to unplug the ECM, this can be done by unbolting the mount and shoving it to the side. The cover that is cut off is made to be left off, there should be a line farther out that the factory labeled to cut at but this method is a good way to do it.

    I don't know why gm decided to put a cover over the encloser? but the piece you cut out, just throw it away along with all the rest of it around the motor and firewall. it wont leak air or anything. the plastic you cut is actually a lot softer than the plastic under it. I took one apart at a junk yard and the outer cover is not necessary.

    I don't need to cut mine off, but a few of the bolts were super annoying to get to. Not to mention, being new to this stuff I didn't want to screw up my truck. I didn't take out the one bolt, and couldn't fit the blower motor over it without worrying about breaking the thing.

    I liked your video but tell me my 99 Blazer has three leads going to the blower motor; two prongs at the plug in and 1 prong next to it.
    Is that what this one has and did you replace with a 2 or 3 prong?

    I know this video is pretty old, but I still hope you see this and can reply. This morning my 1995 GMC Jimmy stopped blowing heat completely. When I turn the heat on, it makes a quiet whistling sound. It’s not howling or screaming so could it still be the blower motor/resistor?

    Mark, thank you for the excellent video. Took me a while with the covering but I replaced both the blower and resistor (both new ac delco). Unfortunately did not resolve the problem. Nothing blows. When I do turn the selector say to Ac - i hear it click on but nothing blows. Any suggestions what i can try next? 1st thing I tried was the 20a fuse in dash. Thanks again. And thanks in advance for any tips. Regards!

    Thank you so much! I couldn't figure out how to replace the Blower Motor on my daughter's 2001 Chevy S-10 Blazer. This is a great thing! Should I test the motor first with a + & - set of alligator leads hooked to the battery, to see if it's definitely the motor? I guess there's a possiblity it could be the fan switch? (No blower response at any setting, but airco compressor is running and condensor is cold when the airco switch is set to either airco setting.) Thanks again!

    so if the housing around the blower motor is broken it has a very big hole will that cause the ac to only throw out hot air. the reason i ask that is cause my ac was only letting out hot so i used A/C Charging and Refrigerant/Freon and it stayed cold for about 20 minutes and after that it went right back to blowing out hot air. i just want to know if that could be a reason before i try to do something else

    I have a 1996 S10 and the air blows a little some times but it never blows as hard as it used to. Not even close. I was wondering if it is my blower motor or the switch in the dash. The rotating switch for the low to high fan on the dash rotates smoothly instead of it rotating with clicks like when it was new. But it was doing that for over a year before the fan started acting up. What do you think? Thank you in advance.

    • @bibleprophecy1st
      @bibleprophecy1st 10 лет назад

      It hardly blows at all, but when it does it can barely be felt by hold my hand up to the vents. It's making no noise, but most of the time it doesn't blow at all. It doesn't seem to matter where the position is set on the switch.

  • @Krukester
    @Krukester 10 лет назад

    So my motor is making a weird grinding noise. It does it for awhile then stops, or switching the fan on/off also sometimes makes it stop. The heat only comes from the defroster in car, blows cold on any other setting. I'm assuming it's the motor but any other suggestions/info would be appreciated.

    I replaced my blower motor and when I put everything back together I started my vehicle and it started fine made sure everything worked for the heater then shut engine off. Then I went to start my vehicle again and it wouldn't start. Could it have something to do with the PCM being removed and then reinstalled again?

    The only thing I disagree with on this video is using vise grips on the hoses, I changed the blower motor and resistor, last week on my S-10 and I used a siphon pump on the overflow to get the coolant out, vise grips can slip off or tear the hoses, I have a siphon pump from harbor freight, that has black hose and a red hose, the pump handle is almost like an air pump and the coolant want into an empty container and the overflow was refilled after I got finished putting the overflow and ecm back in.

    Nice video but I'd like to warn people to mark the plugs ,red,blue, black,and white., because in the case with my 97 GMC Jimmy, 2 identical plugs WERE NOT color coded. They were the blue and white plugs. So I'm just posted this so others don't go crazy like I did trying to start their truck. I seen the video and assumed that my plugs were color coded just like in the video. I guess they were out of blue and white plugs the day they built my truck. Luckily I didn't burn anything out. P.S. the guy that designed the location for the ECM was a moron in my opinion . Right in front of a blower motor and on top of a hot antifreeze reservoir bottle? C'mon now. lol

    CAUTION!!!!!!!!! Check if you have a 3 wire computer controlled system first. Most of the blowers you find are all 2 pin like the one in this vid. If you have a computer controlled unit, you will have a third tab with a wire going to a control unit. Also getting to the lower cut is an absolute bitch with a utility knife. Just get a long fillet type knife and be very careful what direction and pressure you are using.. easily slice yourself open.
