I saw this video like 6 years ago. Wanted this pattern the minute I saw it. I finally got it down today thanks to this tutorial and a lot of basics work. Thanks for making this. Finally got my big dream trick

    Awesome.
Never heard of / seen that pattern variation before. (The Kraken)
Good stuff, made my arms nice and tired before bed trying to learn it.
    Thanks.

@Morphae For sure! Catching the hold ball on the back of the hand is totally doable. I think we were calling it "The Backen". After reading your comment I found that in the kraken you can catch both the hold ball and the ball that isn't the scoop ball on the back of the hand. It's difficult back of the handing the scoop ball because of the carry but you can tap it before you scoop it. I'll have to work on my back of the hand mills. Thanks for the ideas.

@floyddango I can make it through twice on each side there abouts before I drop. Glad to see someone else succeed. :) Speaking of complicated tricks, Rubenstein's Revenge looks interesting.

Hey there, so.... I've been working on two different 3 ball tricks recently, and I had a brilliant idea.... COMBINE THEM!....
Guess what happened when I did? I realized I was juggling this pattern with the throws and catches awkawrdly timed and positioned a little differently in the air.

I'm just curious--why does the siteswap even matter for this? I understand siteswap, but it doesn't really tell you anything about this trick. Why do people obsess over correct siteswap notations?
Also, I couldn't tell in the video but, the stacken looks very similar to what I have seen on the wildcats juggling site listed as yo-yo on both sides. I have also heard it called puppet master which I thought sounded better than yo-yo on both sides :0. Any idea where that one originated?

It's ok Steve, BJ, you're both still awesome.
If we never make mistakes, we never learn. At least that's what I tell myself to make me feel better when I can't get a trick... ^_^

@Idiosensory Heya. The reason I personally had been concerned with the siteswap is because I find it's easier for me to learn certain tricks if the siteswap is known. For instance, when I was oringially trying to learn this trick, I was trying to do a 4 throw which makes it into a different trick, therefore it helped to realize that the original trick is simply all 3's.
For instance, the only real difference between reverse chops and takeouts is the siteswap. *shrug*

BTW thanks a bunch for this video, it's a great tutorial and a lot of fun to throw.

I feel like there should be some sort of on the back of the hand, stacken variation

bro that's gnarly. I just confuse myself with these claw catches.

@Idiosensory yeah the siteswap doesn't really matter for this.. or for most 3ball tricks. Some people just like obsessing over siteswaps for no good reason in particular, haha.
There are alternate names for lots of tricks. I don't know where these tricks or their names originated from though..

Hey, I didn't mean anything by it, I was simply stating/asking. Only because as a siteswap nerd I was trying to do the pattern thinking I was doing it wrong.
    I meant no offense.

@floyddango Yeah, I'm just starting to get this trick down. Mainly, my problem is keeping every ball the same height and keeping them from colliding. But even as I'm getting it, I'm watching my hands like "I have no idea what's going on."

  • @circusbj

There is no 4. I made a mistake. I apologize. Mystery solved. Further speculation on the subject is redundant.

Holy crap!! No way! I've been doing this trick for almost a year now, and I always thought it was 42333! How could we both make that mistake?! I'm not sure if I even deserve to be called SiteSwapSteve anymore.. dammit!

Funny, as this trick just didn't work I wrote my comment 2 weeks ago. And today after 2 weeks I tried the kraken again and actually got it down. Now I wanted to see wether it looks correctly and I just see your comment linked to the kraken tutorial^^ Well, apparently my kraken is correct :) .. Just have to perfect the throws.

  • @meshunderlay
    @meshunderlay 14 лет назад

Maybe I don't see it because it's too fast.
It really looks like just plain 33333 to me. I don't see the 4.
Sorry to be an ass. ^_^. Still, awesome tutorial.
