For all the gay uncles that could be there...but also for the gay uncles that couldn't be there. We love our nephews and nieces fiercely even if we've never met them.
@Gavin James , so sorry you're not able to have a relationship with your nephews/nieces...hope things will improve in the future, and that at least you can have a relationship with them once they're old enough to do so independently 💗
My cousin Angelo is gay, he and his husband Felice have been together for like 25 years. Coming from a small town in rural northern Italy, it was not easy for him. His straight siblings really fucked up and dissipated a lot of the family money, and yet they were always treated nicely by Uncle Luciano. Angelo studied hard, became a chef and started working and making his own money very early on, he always was very creative and imaginative, with lots of ideas. While his sister was letting the family farm rot away, Angelo and his husband worked and saved, and opened a beautiful B&B and vegan organic cooking school, in a renovated 18th century old mill/manor house. They are doing GREAT and they're the nicest people I know. And yet, up until the end, Uncle Luciano could never (would never!) accept his son's sexuality. And yet, at the eulogy at Uncle's funeral, Angelo gave beautiful words and forgave his dad for everything.
@@tyfenrir no. turns out the brother, sister and mother all accept him as gay. The granny, not so much, but she still doesn't go dog like his Dad did. The conflict in the story is getting uncle Frank to face his fear of rejection by his family.
Good For You!I am straighter than a pencil but I have always felt a great amount of sympathy for The gay people because half my family is Bi.I feel so badly for gays because of how the public and media deceives them.
Just finished watching this and it made cry so much. It's a beautiful film. I thought it would be like a "feel good" sort of road movie, but it has some heart wreching parts. Paul was magnificent. Beautiful movie.
"I don't want to be a part of my family". Ouch, that got me. As a gay kid raised in a religious, conservative family I think we all said/thought that at some point.
I don't think that this story exists to be a surprise. To me it looks like this movie is more about the emotion and empathy as well as the beauty of the shots. I think a film like this I could enjoy even if I knew the major plot details going in. Definitely not saying your point is wrong for all films these days, I just don't mind it for this one.
Yes! It's something that is so hard to explain to kids today what it was like. How as a kid you knew to never ask more questions even though it was a little weird your grown up uncle/aunt still had this roommate that occasionally spent the holidays with you. And that was if you had a "tolerant" family. Many people were not lucky enough to know their Aunts and Uncles because of hate.
I have an Aunt Mel who we love and respect! I also have a great Uncle Daryl but he doesn’t come around as often (I’m worried it’s because my grandpa and Uncle Kimon don’t except him :( )
Finally the GREAT movies are coming out. Who knew a pandemic could bring out some of the best cinema we've seen in a long time. Great, quiet movies that make you laugh, cry and THINK. Now these are the new good old days.

I'm pretty sure the mic was on one of those boom thingys.
That's my motto!!!
I bet his Niece and Boyfriend convince some of his family to smarten up.

My uncle Ray was gay. He died, but I carried on the gayness in the family :)

oh, so sorry to heard that. Hope you can find a cure for that.
My uncle is gay, but he’s a hardcore Republican. I’m bi and the only other LGBTQ+ family member.

Yup.
I didn’t think I needed to hear Paul Bethany with a country accent, but here we are and my life is complete
The question is why they keep making trailers that pretty much reveals the whole movie.

You took the words out of my mouth! If they had just hinted at it it would have made for a better movie experience!!
This movie is going to be a gem, I can't even explain how precious this looks.
I'd watch Paul Bettany read a dictionary.

The songs are:
Funkadelic - Can You Get To That
Alabama Shakes - I Found You

She was a baby Amy on Sharp Objects
I've always thought she looks like Kristen Wiig.
She's identical to Allison Pill's character in Scott Pilgrim
