I got this game as a kid a long time ago. When I opened the case and saw a cd, I was crestfallen, because I did not own the cd version of the console. All I could do over the years was to read the manual and use my imagination. On a whim, I looked for this let's play and of course the Internet/YT delivered. Mystery solved. I also found the manual for this game online to make sure this is the game I had. Thanks, Internet.
I had this game for my TurboDuo. I think it was on clearance for $10. It's no Mario or even a Bonk but it was kind of compelling in its own way. There were some neat ideas. I like how Thing kept showing up in different vehicles leading up to a tank.
I think the reason behind the low storage on the CD could be because of no FMV’s, not that many music as they also have very short loops & many sounds & music being bit-crushed.
This ICOM produced movie-tie in platformer may be a bit rough around the edges, but it's still quite a fun romp through the Addams' mansion. It's also a TG16 exclusive, and quite distinct from the games Ocean produced based on the movie.
ICOM never quite got used to developing for the Turbo. Their graphics were always a bit sub-par for the system, we all know it can do WAY better than this, and the sound design was way lacking here for a CD game
So, a game from villains POV, where he has a "Kingsman" umbrella and never drops the damn briefcase, even when turns into a monster. He takes his business seriously, haha.
I was hoping this was gonna be better than it is. There is no rhyme or reason to the layout of the iconic mansion. At least Ocean did a close to real layout, and a very darn good one actually. The NES version was on point in terms of the Addams residence and the nostalgic Addams Family content. If they remade that game with better graphics I think many new customers and returning customers would line up for it.
Randy Dubin Oh, I have no idea why they did it that way. Maybe they weren't happy with the video quality with the base system card? Either that or it was originally being done for a cartridge and someone late in development switched to CD? It would explain the superfluous use of multimedia stuff, and the fact that the CD is less than 20 megs.
This game is rather odd, & that's saying something as it's an Addams game. For me at least, this game gives off rather creepy vibes. Not fun creepy like the Addamses ought to be, but legit creepy. The sounds effects & music particularly are what set it off. In the torture chamber, you can hear groans of pain in the background, in the room of chains, there's that unsettling laughter, & in one of the rooms in the secret passage, you can hear some girl's heavy, fearful breathing throughout the whole room. The music was probably meant to sound silly & cliché with the organ & harpsichord, but when coupled with the sound effects & the bit crushing, it's off-putting. Also, the game fails to capture how you're meant to view an Addams experience. When in an Addams Family scenario, you as the viewer are meant to side with the family & join in their fun, not be an outsider who fears the family & sees them as freaks.
I actually kind of like the concept of seeing the Addams from an outsider’s distorted perspective, but I agree that the execution here is off and the decision to use Tully is bizarre. The slapdash use of stock sound effects and 5 second looped samples make this feel less like a spooky romp and more like an unnerving arthouse game (like FunnyPizzaLand for example). Then the voice acting is so cheap and campy that it bounces back to sounding like a student project. The gameplay seems surprisingly fine, and I almost appreciate how surreal this game’s existence is, but I think it could have benefited from having a coherent direction.
Oswald Epic Loquendero The Turbo was the same machine, just the US version, and it had FMV games released for it. Check out Sherlock Holmes and It Came From the Desert
Oswald Epic Loquendero No, seriously. They're the same console. Like the SNES and the Super Famicom. A TurboDuo was a PC Engine with a built-in CD drive and system 3.0 card, renamed for the US market. It can play Castlevania just fine. The Addams Family used a lower version of the system card, but the console itself is the same.
I really would have liked to see the office meeting of the development of this game. Who thought It was a good idea to release this garbage . The Video are really cringey
It’s definitely not the worst I’ve ever seen, but it sure is one of the strangest. Some decisions like the still frame cutscenes and the 30 minutes of gameplay I can chalk to a 3 month development cycle, but other decisions like the sound design and playing as Tully I don’t think I’ll ever be able to understand.
History's only video game where you play as Dan Hedaya

Arguably the best Addam's Family videogame of them all! Thanks for uploading!

This game was a hell of a lot of fun to playthrough, and I cant believe the game data on the disc was under 10mb. very underrated game

i use to wonder why did they had tully to be the main character of the game? tully was a villain in the movie and then he got killed off.

The phrase "movie-tie in" is definitely stretching the definition with this game.
Which emulator did you use?
@@EddieHawkinsII I think it was Mednafen
@@NintendoComplete Thanks!

Marco Cinquini Seriously. Hes like a Japanese salaryman.
Wow I just found this gem of a game to emulate. LOVE IT!
Remember the scene where Tully shot lightning from an umbrella?
Ooooh no...! But lightning from a book : YES ! ;))
I still like my punishment that was Fester's Quest. This one was an odd ball of the bunch. But at least it was the movie and not the original TV show.
this game is actually scary
Can anyone name or provide an alternate source for the music from ~7:28 - 8:10?
Since the game released I’ve been searching for this answer
It’s Kid Gorgeous.
Wasn't he the villain of the movie
blindjustice316 Yup, he definitely was
along with Abigail using Fester to steal the family's fortune.
John DiMaggio did the fester voice?!

Spoilers
...
Tully WINS the game, and buys an entire island just to get away from the addams, but gomez gets lonely so guess who drops for a visit?
"Wait"..... Wasn't he like bad guy in the movie?
Like "a" bad guy... Sorry forgot the "a".
What's wrong with the FMV footage? Was that intentional or an accident?
Randy Dubin There isn't any FMV, they're still shots
NintendoComplete That's what I was asking about. I was only asking because it was not addressed in the description.

Dan Hedaya is his name.
Nintendo 6:20

Perfect voice in 1991?
Imagine, if this came on the PC Engine CD, that would awesome.
Especially since the PC Engine had FMVideo.

Actually not at all, just see some of PCE-CD like Castlavania: Rondo of Blood or that awful shitty game of Urusei Yatsura.

Okm
IMO, the FMV at the beginning looks better then the FMV in some Sega CD games that I've played.
but that wasnt FMV that was just a image with the movie audio also DONT SAY THE CURSED IMO WORD
This maybe one of the worst movie based games I've ever seen. I really enjoyed the ocean game, but this game stinks
