Awesome find, thanks so much. If anyone else is still craving more stuff like Kidorikko- I've recently gotten into Jun Togawa and it really seems like Kidorikko was veryyy inspired by Jun. The lead girl from Kidorikko does a lot of Jun's dance moves while performing live, similar singing styles (Although I'd say Jun has more range- not to detract from Kidorikko) and just similar musical ideas in general.
I also made that connection. They're both amazing. I personally prefer Kidorikko :) just a bit more because it's so unabashedly New Wave. (I've been trying to find more Japanese New Wave bands from the 80s, I recently discovered The Plastics and they're a treasure.) Jun's style of singing is more baroque and stylized. There's a singer by the name Hiroko Taniyama has a song called Licca-chan's Pocket, you should check it out! It has a vaguely similar vibe, just a bit "creepier" but still quite experimental for the most part. P.S. The song is actually sung by a singer named Yoko Ueno but youtube only has one upload that appears in english so to find it easier just search the song with Hiroko's name if you are interested. Yoko Ueno also recorded an amazing song called Morning Time and her song "Mudou" sounds kind of like something Kidorikko would have made.
I love Jun Togawa and Kidorikko, and I agree, it seems Kidorikko was heavily inspired by Jun Togawa! If you like Jun Togawa and Kidorikko, you should check out the bands Panasist and Mikan Mukku, you should also check out the album "Tutu" by Miharu Koshi!
@@duetforherbivores yes!! i would also suggest まにきゅあ団(manicure-dan), the vocals and overall style of their music is a bit similar (albeit a little more....silly?) to kidorikko as well :)
if anyone was curious, the song in the background starting at 15:00 is on kimitaka matsumae's (the band member whose voice you hear over it first) album you are the FOX 3, on part 2 of the album. I think it's track 2f, Giant Gilt Girret. The other songs on those albums are great too! he brought something amazing to kidorikkos instrumentals.
Oh my gosh. I can't even wrap my brain around what I'm hearing & reading, it's intense lol. I love Kidorikko so much. Thank you to you & Nyanyangapoo for unearthing and sharing these 💜💜💜💜💜
You're my hero, thank you and Nyanyangapoo so so soooo much for sharing!! This is a dream, I never thought I'd see the day that these come out, thank you!! I can't wait to hear 桃色金魚
OH MY GODDDD I'm so happy!!! I've been wanting to hear these so bad for so long! I gasped when i saw this linked on the discogs page when i was just casually looking for info, thanks a lot!!
Do we have any news about Kidorikko's members ? Like the singer ? (I'm working on art-video project about this band, but there's only few informations on the web)
Yes, there is a lot of information that has been uncovered recently thanks to some folks on a Japanese forum site called Mixi. But it's more related to contents of their cassettes and other media, live performances, etc. Here's a link, everything is in Japanese: mixi.jp/view_bbs.pl?comm_id=3735&id=96034492 The only member who has a social media account today is Kimitaka Matsumae, who left the band in 1986. You can find him at @kimitakamatsuma on twitter. But that's all I know. Hope it helps at all!
@@bastiandiaz4794 Haha, i'm actually in the really beginning of it (writing process for art recidencies). I'd love to make a kind of documentary about Ten Chiyumi, on what she has become.
I was about to say "wait this sounds like kidorikko's nyuusankin syndrome" before realising it was a tape by kidorikko themselves LMFAOO
People got all excited about All Lights Fucked on the Hairy Amp Drooling. Kidorikko tapes are the real shit.
Awesome find, thanks so much.
