    From the article, some of our thoughts about the tripod:
    The T-2204X is one of the lightest travel tripods for its size weighing under 1.3kg (or below 2.8 pounds) with an official max load of 15kg (33lbs).
    The tripod is also quite compact when folded at 48cm (or about 19 inches) but can go up pretty high when fully open to 141cm (about 55 inches) without a head - it isn’t the best there is in this respect but it is pretty close.
    For its size the leg thickness is quite respectable with about 28mm at the top section and close to 19mm at the thinnest, lowest section.
    The build quality of the tripod is very good, nothing feels lose and everything opens and closes very nicely.
    The tripod feels very sturdy with very minimum shake - possibly one of the best in the category.
    One feature that we really liked are the leg locks and how they operate. Right out of the box you just need to twist them a bit and the leg opens all the way down - no other tripod that we tested so far does that and that includes much more expensive Gitzo tripods - it really saves you time pulling the legs (and you do have 9 sections to pull each time although there are way to speed things up a bit).
    The tripod has simple built in spikes which you release by twisting the feet - the advantage is that you will never lose the cover since there is no cover. The disadvantage - the spikes are shorter than those of some other manufacturers like the Genesis C3 that we tested here recently.
    The feet of the tripod seem well designed and held nicely to the floor in our test.
    The leg angle mechanism is pretty good - definitely better than the Genesis but not as good as that of some of the premium tripods. You have 3 open angles options that you can choose by pulling the leg inwards and pushing the leg angle bottom.
    The most open angle close to the ground - requires an additional part - we would prefer if Sirui would find a way around this that will not require this part which can easily get lost. On the upside the tripod does sit very (very) close to the ground in this position and is very stable.
    At the bottom of the center column you have a nice and relatively large removable hook with an internal spring - certainly one of the best implementations that we have seen. What you do not get in this model is a monopod option (which Sirui does offer on a few of its other tripods) and a horizontal center column option which Sirui only offers as a separate accessory.
    On a more positive note the tripod does come with nice foam cover on two of the legs which feels good (Sirui even has some models with foam cover on all 3 legs which is still a bit rare).
    Sirui also knows how to make a costumer feel appreciated. With the tripod we got one of the nicest carrying cases we have seen to date and we even got a very comfortable and padded strap if we wanted to carry the tripod in this way.

    My mother bought me a “HILLPOW Q1 tripod”on Amazon. The rubber feet on the bottom of the tripod legs grip nicely on level and any unbalanced surfaces. And it has a quick release mount so you can swap out cameras with ease. Most important,it’s really lightweight.

    Sir, I use the aluminum version the Sirui KTV-N2 which is similar but the N2 is to use as monopod. You talking about the spikes. As not school educated in English I can not figured out you have given attention the spikes are removable or not. In case of the monopod would it be interesting to remove at first the rubber and better the spikes for longer spikes. I wend yesterday to the store but unfortunately where they not able to give an answer on this issue. Also there is not find an video that talking about. Thanks

      No, the T and N versions are different in that the N has one leg that can detach to become a monopod, the T doesn't. I think otherwise they are identical.

    My copy of SIRUI Tripod, is not the best option I have for birding photos. The worst part is the knob in the upper leg, it always get loose and gets out of it proper place. I have been using it for 10 months now... Good But for me, and where I live, the Vanguard has been working best, And I got the Manfrotto monopod, the one with the three legs, that one? I hate it!!!!

    Hi there, I recently bought a Sirui W-2204 and am disappointed in the tripod. There is considerable creaking in the leg locks whenever I tighten or loosen the legs but also when I exert a bit of pressure on the upper sections. I appreciate you reviewed the T2204X a while ago, but did you notice any creaking when you had it? Also, in terms of torsional rigidity, the W2204 doesn't feel as sturdy as I expected it to be, in fact it is not any sturdier than a budget aluminium tripod (

    • @LensVid
      @LensVid  7 лет назад +1

      Maybe you did. We still have the unit - I don't feel and major or even noticeable creaking and it feels pretty sturdy. The build quality is not on the level of our two Gitzo tripods (review coming soon) BUT I do find myself using it more because of the easier leg opening system which just release the leg when you open the lock - really amazing time saving feature.

    • @danube41
      @danube41 7 лет назад

      Thanks for your reply, I think I may have been over- tightening the locks. I totally see what you mean about the ease of use of the leg-releasing system. I'm still a tad worried about stability, esp. in windy conditions... Very much looking forward to your Gitzo tripod reviews -- which models will you be reviewing?

    • @LensVid
      @LensVid  7 лет назад

      This is a light weight tripod - if you are working in heavy winds you MUST use weights (sandbags/heavy bag below the tripod or any other method that will work for you) to make the tripod stationary - this is true for all tripods even much much more expensive ones. Of course heavier tripods don't need that much added weight because they are heavy themselves but you want something that you can carry with you and not a studio tripod (I am guessing).
      The quick "resale" of the tripod legs is fantastic - this is a really unique feature - we tested about a dozen tripods so far and this is the only one that has this - not sure why all manufacturers don't do this.
      We will be testing 2 Gitzo travel tripods - GT1542 and GK1545T kits with heads - will take a few weeks though (we have more than a dozen other products waiting in line).

      danube41 Agree with you. Last year March I bought this for my Iceland trip. This tripod is not sturdy. Legs makes creaking sound, and I find tightening and un-tightening knobs in the leg is not easy. I used only a few times.

      Thanks a lot for answer.
      They seems be too short for efficient work but always may bring troubles during safety control. Did you get it with you as a cabin pack?
      T2204XL seems to be best offer in market now. Genesis (seems Triopo manufactured) is far lower quality - not so strudy, rubber smelt very unpleasant and make hands dirty, BH of Sirui works like dream while Genesis roughy and block often.
      In my opinion yours tests of tripods are best on YT. Please k keep on good job! Take care.

    • @LensVid
      @LensVid  6 лет назад

      The T2204X is amazing - we are also testing 2 Gitzo tripods and although the build quality of the Gitzo is better, we just love how easy the Sirui legs open much more quickly (just open the lock and the leg falls down - really makes things faster (this is the only tripod that we know of that does that). It is also far less expensive than comparable Gitzo or RRS tripods.

      O.K. so if you are using small-mid size setups for stills than a ballead is a goo idea. As to which one - there are so many - it depends on your budget and your preferences - a fairly nice "budget" option is the Manfrotto X-Pro balhead - the build quality is O.K. (be careful not to drop it) but the functionality is pretty good - see here:
