Just got home from seeing her perform for the first time in Pawling, Ny and damn, I knew i would be good but it was 10 times better than expected. If you get the chance go see her live. Best small venue show I've seen in a long time. Thank you Samantha Fish Band for a great show.
i saw her at a free show in a small town near kansas, and i got to talk with her and her bass player. they are so into helping people get playing shows and giving advice. great person
It's December 2019. And I've had the chance to hear Samatha Fish. Stellar musician. I'm in love with her. And I'm totally digging that Tele/Delaney guitar!
I LOVE Samantha Fish. So happy she's coming to my neck of the woods in North Carolina here in a few months. Very talented lady and easy on the eyes as well.
Great interview. Seems like she knows where she wants to go and she isn't afraid of taking on big songs. I've heard her do covers of some songs that others stay away from. And when she pulled out the Dobro and the resonator, I thought she might be doing some Rory material. That would be cool.
Haven't seen a clip of her music that I don't like. She seems to be very genuine and sweet. Hope to God nobody tries to take advantage of it. These are the musicians I pull for to make a name for themselves.
Gonna see her live for the first time in May. Only discovered her a month ago WOW! Amazing how much she's grown as an artist since this video - She's on the edge of blowing up into a huge star now. She's clearly busted her ass learning her craft and touring judging by the youtube vids ive seen.Good luck to her, she comes across as a genuinely lovely woman with bags of soul and talent. Just hope she's got good management people around her - music business is a treacherous business!
Clearly, there are people who view the music community as a great place to share the music that they love and bring people together, and then there are people like libertyfalls who like to run around and throw grenades into the community in an effort to thump their chest and say that they are better. As if music was a competition. Personally, I'd rather listen to someone playing their music honestly and trying to communicate with it, than to hear nasty comments from some individuals.
I really think Samantha is great!! Great singer, songwriter and player!! She's got an original sound and singing style and hope to catch her when she comes to WPB!!
This woman had won a BMA award for best new artist debut album of the year and she is sponsored by Category 5 Amps and Klein Pickups. So you are all invalidated for picking on her. The guitar she is playing is a one off hand built and is her second custom hand built American instrument. So you are all invalidated. She has paid her dues and is making a name for herself.
Stevie played hard & heavy a lot, but he also played pretty delicate too... Riviera Paradise & Lenny are good examples. I play .12's because I just like having some "meat" to the string, it's easier for me to get a good grip on them. I used to think heavy strings = more tone, but then I found out Billy Gibbons plays freakin' .07's! I guess it'as all a matter of personal preference. :)
I agree Erik Larson. Samantha is a real diamond in the Music World because she is extremely ambicious, talented, unique, dedicated and truthful. Her success is not about the looks however many enter the show to see her but they get trapped soon in her performance. The 28 dicks/cunts just don't possess the intelligence to understand her brilliant being and the difference between average and great. Samantha's carreer is not accidentally a blast, no one can put her down, doesn't matter how hard they try until she knows what she is doing. And she obviously knows. Samantha, you found yourself and we found you. Just be what you are!!!!
Thanks for the note regarding Tyler Bryant. We're really excited about his new material with the Shakedown and we'd love to setup a Rig Rundown with him. However, we have certain limitations for said RR shoots: First, the artist/guitarist needs to hit the road and swing through our proverbial neighborhood. Second, we need to be lucky enough to coordinate day-of-show schedules, balance our current editorial workload, and configure travel considerations. Thanks for understanding -- keep watchin'
I so love that tone of the Category 5 amps, just perfection... then I checked em out and cried at the price:(( Damit... they are out of reach for me, beautiful authentic tone to die for but always so expensive.
I'll totally agree that Teles are very cool guitars, everyone should have one, but I think Strats amd Teles are equally interesting in their own right. I definitely am not one of those who look for something to complain about. Maybe I was just having a bad moment and then got a little carried away when we got a conversation going. No harm done.
SRV used 13's on a Strat, though tuned to Eb, but I think something's too much. But there's definitely pro and cons on both having light or heavy strings.
Anything below 11 is too flimsy and insubstantial - no matter what pick ups you have - Samantha gets a great sound because she has customised her rig herself - too exactly the specifications she seeks - I do hope she comes over to play in the UK - I would love to see and hear her live
I have looked into soupin up my tele.(mexican) but it actually sounds good just a little thin which I eq out anyway. need a side by side comparison to see.
Well we have to play different strings in different ways otherwise we won't be able to play certain things well. Picking can always be changed, a tight grip on light strings would be the same as a soft grip on heavy ones, but bending will always be harder with heavy strings. if you pick hard on light strings they will cover a larger area as they vibrate so it makes sense to pick softer so you have a smaller area to expect the string to be in.
And every other models has the bridge singlecoil attached to the bridge plate. Besides it's the deluxe models that have the large strat headstock, not that small one and not in thinlines anyway. Again I don't have a problem with people liking whatever they like. Just know WHY you like them.
Yeah i don't understand going heavier than 11s at the most unless you are going to tune a whole step down or lower. I put 9s on my 25.5 in. scale guitars and 10s on my 25 in. scale guitar. I haven't owned any 24.75's but the strings on the ones if played seemed too slinky i guess id put 11's on those.
Dude, if that Tyler Bryant isn't available for a rig rundown, what would Premierguitar do? It's not about priorities, it's about availability. All we can do is suggest ideas, but in the end it's all about if the artist can/want or not. No hate, I just see lots of comments like yours and wanted to point out why rig rundowns like these happen : )
I've watched a lot of rundowns and I must compliment the camera work on this. To many times they film the wrong angle or object completely. Would have been easy to only film this attractive girl but instead you got in and got great shots of what we came to see.
Man.. ever notice that the people who can not play always trash the ones who do? And why would you discredit someone who is living the dream that you can not even begin to understand!!!!
So what exactly is your problem with her saying she's a Tele girl, her saying you can get a good range of sounds from them, the fact that some of her Teles have humbuckers and large headstocks etc.? I just don't see the point in second-guessing people and then yukking it up over the fact they use standard configurations like it somehow invalidates everything they say. Like I said, it sounds like people just looking for something to complain about and to feel superior over
@@russianbot2397 Check out I Put A Spell On You live vid from this era. To think she's playing 11's pretty much amazes me, even if she's tuned down a half step. Smoldering is the word.
Do an August Burns Red rundown! I think they're unappreciated and unnoticed when it comes to guitar complexity and I've always wondered what gear JB uses!
@libertyfalls - totally unfair. Sam is a an up-and-coming blues act - and she knows what she likes sound-wise. Personally I get tired of the arena rig-rundowns where time and money is no object and the artist has a "guitar tech' that not only takes care of the guitars, but stomps the pedals and does everything but wipe the player's ahz. And maybe that too- who knows.
...is the main reason people like certain guitars and then mod the sounds to their liking. I don't have a problem her calling it a tele, I would too. Just her reasoning why she likes teles cause you can get the same versatile sounds out of any guitar if you mod them enough.
Samantha Fish is absolutely awesome, I just discovered her a few months ago and she blew me away.
Such an amazing guitarist and a great person too!
Just got home from seeing her perform for the first time in Pawling, Ny and damn, I knew i would be good but it was 10 times better than expected. If you get the chance go see her live. Best small venue show I've seen in a long time. Thank you Samantha Fish Band for a great show.

So good to see someone keeping the power trio alive.
Sam fish is one of the greatest guitar playing people alive today that has a voice to match.
Great interview. Seems like she knows where she wants to go and she isn't afraid of taking on big songs. I've heard her do covers of some songs that others stay away from. And when she pulled out the Dobro and the resonator, I thought she might be doing some Rory material. That would be cool.
I got to see Samantha August 2019 in Cleveland! Absolutely LOVE this girl! 🤗😘💕❤️

She should be a huge star.
Terrance Hill
Yes I should.

I think she will be. It takes time. One tour opening with Joe B and look out. Dreaming of course.
She is to talented i guess;-)
Truth seeker She's, going to be a bigger star !
just seen Samantha Fish band this week... she is an amazing player..
def a do not miss show
She is a musical geniius
A great talent has done nothing but get better each and every year. A phenomenal player that just blows the house down! Peace.
This is an kick ass interview! Love it.
I love blues. Nice to see her play. It must be nice to have such custom set ups. Fortunate girl. Good for her. Great voice, nice blues player as well.
Great Setup! Love the simplistic approach!
A very cool lady! I dig her sound & style!

A truly wonderful guitarist who keeps getting better and better.
She has a great tone.
Yes and she plays a mean guitar too😁👍

I thought her voice was strong just like when she sang. it's very sweet when she talks. She is very tender
Just saw her last night in Birmingham... she was great!
Keep kicking some ass Sam. Rock on girl. 11's man now that's hard core. Must be hard bending the strings. Although the strings will last longer.
I really think Samantha is great!! Great singer, songwriter and player!! She's got an original sound and singing style and hope to catch her when she comes to WPB!!

Simp harder lmfao
Fast forward to 2021. COVID is here, but Sam is all over the news
Who’s coming at her ? Side note using the word invalidated is pretty condescending.
Yeah, nothing better than generic blues!
She said she likes Teles, strats and Les Pauls. That guitar looks like a hybrid of all three.
Ya, its not really a Tele with the 2 humbuckers
@@green323turboslimeline telecaster version 2.
Love this
SHE IS CHARMY !!! I LOVE IT
A step into a legend 🎵🎶🎧🎤🇺🇸
I saw her show at Palatine park in WV she put a really great show loved it!!!!!
She is so sweet❤️
And talented
Thanks for mentioning Luther Allison, SM.
good guitarist ,magnific talent a love you Samantha!!!!
She mentioned Mike Zito. Terrific guitar player with great tone. Saw him when he used to play in Lake Charles years ago. Do HIS rig!

God I love her ....
From a few years ago but from the era that i first heard of her, Brit Guitarist "I Put A Spell On You" . Great playing and singing on that.
i really do like her !
saw the fish at the Birchmere just the other night :-) such sweet licks
Great interview. . . Thanks!
hoo ha i wanna marry this woman!
Those Category 5 amps are very sweet.
She is in Davenport Iowa at the Redston Room in this Video Hell ya.
That beautiful guitar at 9:58 is actually a Dean "Resonator Thin Body Chrome Gold" Acoustic Electric Guitar if anyone was looking for more info on it.
"I am a Tele girl". Today she is a SG girl. Now that is evolution
Hey, at least she's out there playing, instead of complaining about other ppl's gear on youtube.
Awesome lighting.
live at the dinosaur syracuse n.y. she was great go hear her live you mite to learn to appreciate her
She is my favorite among female blues artist ♠️💎🎸🎤
Damn, I wish I knew you were at Guys!!
I use twin humbuckers on my bass. The sound is unique.
She talks the talk she's not fake

Joe Bonamassa used or still uses 12's on standard although he uses shorted scaled guitars mostly.
Yup, she's great!
I have a desperate need for a Coheed rig rundown. It's an absolute necessity.
She is si damn awesome!
She looks so young here, she is very talented and cute.

I concur sir. I play drums, and the brand that I really like the sound of is so expensive. Craviotto, or high end gretsch.
actually that's "up" in plattsburg if you're from kansas city. another heavy string blues player, love the cigar box stuff. real tubes hell yeah.
Come to Vancouver
Come see my city my friend!!
É maravilhosa, poderia vir aqui no Brasil, Maringá Song city.

The sound hole reminds me of the Vita instruments by Roy Smeck with the two seals. The bubbles are the bees knees.
Like every good Tele the top hat is missing from the selector switch 👊🏽

i just seen here live in indep MO great show way to short but fantastic great job and go go ray is rock solid
I'm not complaining about her gear. Her gear is just fine. Just her reasoning why she uses/likes that guitar isn't. She is though.
I love the blues i play a strat white with a black pickgard

Pretty girl, nice touch on the guitar too. Will have to investigate further as she's a new player to me. Thanks for the RR.
Samantha, you should try slide on the middle finger (like Joe Walsh). You can alternate between slide and soloing which can be fun!
Yeah i don't understand going heavier than 11s at the most unless you are going to tune a whole step down or lower. I put 9s on my 25.5 in. scale guitars and 10s on my 25 in. scale guitar.
