- The new US ambassador to the Netherlands, Pete Hoekstra, has denied he had ever said there were "no-go zones" in the Netherlands, calling it "fake news".
He was being quizzed about comments he had made about Islamic extremism in the country.
But Dutch journalist Wouter Zwart showed him a clip of the comments from 2015.

I like how the journalist FROM THE NETHERLANDS looks back at the cameraman like “am I not understanding this man’s English? Am I in some type of alternate reality?”
I would have turn off the camera and went into playback mode and forced him to watch himself saying it. It's one thing to disagree, but when you can't be part of conversation because you are that strong of a liar or have that bad of memory or are that careless or are that willfully ignorant, no progress can be made.
The Dutch journalist is not the one who has trouble understanding the English language.
He was actually looking at his cameraguy, it's a typical Dutch look saying "You got that, right?"
This was all over the news in the Netherlands. It was from the NOS news. Basicly the primary tv news channel. So atleast half of the nation saw this live. And the rest heard it on social media. The usa was the laughing stock of the week. We called him little thrump.
Wellll, I spent 3 years in the Netherlands and got in trouble with the many no go zones, except that the more common word for it is "bike lane" ..... some Dutch do pedal err very enthusiastically :p

Im from the netherlands and there are not any No go zones. Politicians dont need a lot of security here. The prime minister even uses a bike to go to work.

The EU got mad because they believe that lower taxes in the US are against "global rules," since we are once again competitive when it comes to attracting corporate HQs. Although fiscal policies are typically lagging, as they give results years after legislation is passed due to sticky wages (contracts), sticky prices, etc. It takes businesses longer to react to new legislation, although the lowering of the tax rates has so far had an instantaneous effect. Our economy is also growing, although this could arguably be attributed to both Obama and Trump (lower taxes have spurred more development/ investment into the US).
I finally get it. They aren't stupid. They're just really really really REALLY ambitious. They think they can gaslight the entire world.

Hoekstra made claims of actual events, he did not offer them as opinion, nor would his opinion of events that never happened be valid. It's one thing to allow a town-idiot to spout his skewed perception of reality at the local pub, but we're talking about an appointed diplomat, here, and no free speech grants him the ability to dictate reality for others.

Keep in mind that this U.S. Ambassador was on the House Intelligence Committee. A former Republican Representative from Michigan in the U.S. House of Representatives, Hoekstra was on The House Intelligence Committee.
