6 hours 😱 Very interesting. I like what you did with Ragama. And I think this videoformat works quite well, you’re doining good. Cheers! (No beer for me today but I had a glass of wine.)
Completely agree with the NPC stat blocks. I find myself copy and pasting the stat blocks, along with summaries of the powers that NPCs have in order to keep everything together. I don't see how it is possible to run the game without making your own notes or summarizing the material ourselves. Next gen design (perhaps supported by apps providing a customizable dashboard) should make it easier to have the information you have already paid for easily accessible. The best days of hard copies and pdfs supported by 3rd party apps seem to yet be ahead of us.
Caught your channel in my feed and was intrigued by your video about why Symbaroum is 'your' D&D and have started watching some of your content and ended up purchasing the game after downloading the free Quick Start pdf. I enjoy 5E and have always been a more story oriented player and DM etc going back to when I started playing as a kid in the early 80's. Certainly much less mechanics oriented, so 5E has filled the void of the basic streamlined rules mechanics when you need them - but I do like a lot of what I am reading thus far about Symbaroum (say that three times fast) and seeing thus far as a rule. I am in Canada myself on the East Coast in NS. Will need to track down a Discord server to look into games. Have you actually published any of your live sessions as of yet? Anyway, this is only my second video watch so a few more to go on your channel. Thanks for sharing - hope all is well in MTL. Cheers! -Blair
I don't do live play videos, but you can check out Telling Tales on YT, they have a Symbaroum campaign going. Here's the Discord: discord.gg/davokar-explorers-league-401618685908746241
Good and enjoyable recap, and interesting for me as GM. Im pretty new, only 4-5 sessions in Symbaroum so far, but many years playing other systems. Anyway, the lack of range description is sometimes hard to descide on the fly, because line of sight can mean that a mystic can hurl spells on faraway targets. One of my mystics acquired a looking glass.. I was actually thinking of using the mystics cunning as a guide for range. For instance 15 in cunning was translated into 15m range line og sight. Or as an aura 5 squares (2m squares). But I think magic in Symbaroum should be powerful, because the down sides are also very harsh, so I dont want to add limitations either...
For spells, I determine range narratively. Is the target in the present scene? Close enough to interact with the PCs or at least be aware of the casting? If not, they are "out of the map" so to speak. In effect, most spells will have the same range as a crossbow or bow.
Hey Jericho, Nice vid as usual. Here are my remarks: - I didn’t know this shortcut to update HP of multiple NPCs at the same time, I love it ! - for the NPCs allies, I don’t comment everything, and I roll nothing. I just comment what serves to the story. - I don’t like to GM fights with too many protagonists. I don’t think the game is well designed for it. Anyway, sometimes you just have to. - You should delete tokens from the map once they’re dead. Like this they also disappear from the turn order - I use an extension, I think it’s token action hud, to highlight the token during its turn. I recommend it if you didn’t try yet One last question. What software are you using to take your notes and prep your sessions ? I like it very much.
The software is Pages on Apple computers its free. I totally agree with the above points. The game is not suited for big pools of combatants with many different Abiities and Powers. It becomes unwieldly.
Thanks for the video and the GM tips ! Loved the idea of 'area of NPCs' for large scale battle ! Will use this in my upcoming tannery battle !
Tell me how it goes! I didn't get to try it yet.

Thanks very useful for a GM unfamiliar with Symbaroum
My pleasure!

That would be cool indeed!

@@jerichojeudy thx for the software, I will try it.
@@thomasneels2110 I personally love it. Works differently than Word, but once you are used to it, it's great.
