- Biologist Liz Bonnin explores why some of the most bizarre and surprising animals pair up with each other and with us. She scours the globe in search of the most extraordinary and cute animal relationships, investigating why such odd couples sometimes form. From dogs mothering baby tigers and polar bears befriending huskies, to buffaloes bonding with grown men and lions behaving like our brothers.

From wiki:
Kamunyak (meaning "Blessed One"), was a lioness who is famous for having adopted at least 6 oryx calves, and fighting off predators and lion prides which attempted to eat her charges. She suffered starvation, since the calves did not act like lion cubs and wait somewhere while she hunted for food… She was last sighted in February 2004, and despite a number of searches, has not been seen since.
omg, thank you for the info, but now im so sad 😭

They needed to nurse. Wish lioness couldve had food also.
The cat mum adopting the ducklings is something that can be on children’s books ❤️
Seems unexpected, but is actually not that uncommon. There are lots of species which adopt cubs from others.
There was a case of a female tiger on a zoo which lost their babies right after birth, so it became depressed. The solution was putting a litter of piglings, which were orphans, with some false tiger skin near the tigress. She made a sudden change and adopted them without problems.

This cat reminds me of my dog Cain. She was a Siberian Husky me and my family adopted. One time while we were having a BBQ we kept watching her crawling under the deck and coming out covered in dirt. That poor lioness. She just wants someone to look after. I hope she’s able to share her love with a lucky animal eventually!
If I remember the story correctly, the reason they kept dying was either they got eaten in the short term or her inability to feed them got them in the long term. It's kinda cute at first, but they're clearly toxic and one sided relationships so it's just sad how traumatized she is...
If you look at the lioness, she's clearly extremely malnourshed herself, her spine and ribcage (even individual ribs) are far, far too visible for an animal such as the lion. It's most likely why the consensus was that she was seperated from a pride in a traumatising manner, possible that her cubs where killed.
