Hey Johnny, I wanted to say thank you for both your fashion and life tips. I've learned a lot from your channel and your advice has helped shaped how I view my life and responsibilities. So thank you. I look forward to more videos to come!
I was in Japan last week, gotta say I loved the stuff from the women's sections, instantly bought their barrel leg jeans in many washes, the brown and washed blues were my favourite. Had to buy since the brand is in Japan only.
Because I’m from Cali, my first experience with GU was my last trip to Tokyo. Copped two fisherman vests and a black cargo pocket T-shirt which all became staples in my wardrobe. Oh yeah, and a pair of socks with a collab with Undercover! I equate GU to Old Navy if Uniqlo was Gap. Great stuff, especially in price point. And I’m good with them not being all over the place like Uniqlo.
GU was crazy fun! Love their beanies as someone with a larger head it has a great fit and back in spring they had sick cropped shirt collection, but didnt have courage to get any of those :D
Being a 6'2 American in Japan I like GU better for the fit of most things. I find even if clothes fit my body they tend to run WAY too short on my arms but I don't have that issue with GU
Let's be honest. The luxury market isn't that expensive if you produce it at cost and take off the logo. The luxury logo is about 80% of the actual price. But the fact is that you're buying the image, showing off your taste, and making them think you have more money than you actually do, which is a very good thing. so kislux .
I have been looking all over for the clothing steamer you recommended in one of your earlier videos. I think you got it on Amazon, but I don’t recall the brand. What was the name of that clothing steamer to remove wrinkles?
Johny you are inspiration to me whenever I put pieces together. I love that Navy oversized melton coat. Im not sure if I should get a size M or size L. Im 5'8½ and am 190lb. Which size would you recomend?
I honestly like uniqlo better 😭 gu has cool stuff but I think there’s not alot of differentiation between these two brands to justify buying over uniqlo
Yes, yes it is worth the hype. They are always doing trendy items, so if you want to try out a new trend or some bolder cuts, most likely or not you can find pieces from GU at a low price. Like lately they have been releasing a lot of vintage looking or washed pieces because of the popularity of y2k and retro trend. Also, the pants selection from GU is insane. The super wide cargo and the denim version have been super popular in Asia for the past few years and they always end up being recommended by Japanese, Taiwan, HK fashion RUclipsrs because of how amazing they are for the low price. Lately GU released the barrel series pants and that also became a big hit.
They had a GU pop-up in NY when I visited and ended up getting couple of sweaters which I really like. Sucks that they don’t even do online orders unless I go to NY again lol
Much like Uniqlo, the quality doesn’t match the price, everything is at least 30% more expensive than it should be…when sales happen, for the look it’s cool but not for retail
I disagree. IMHO. I feel like the prices range, but always better quality than the price. Sportswear cheaper than REI, Nike etc w solid quality textiles/workmanship, but maybe not the most high tech light weight. Fashion items like jeans are solid as well cheaper than or on par w Levi's, Gap etc, but consistent better quality. Probably bc the pieces don't change as much. 30%? Entering Kohl's target prices.
@ Uniqlo/gu is kohls/target quality imo..the supima cotton t shirt was worth it when they were $10, not $20..the selvedge denim is fine but I’ve gotten better and cheaper from express with more color options, Hollister makes a cooling t shirt that is the autism shirt with better fit for $8
@@younggotti8195 hmmm..for more economic clothes my baseline is how easily stuff pills and shrinks. In my experience Uniqlo has performed better and the fit is consistent (although everything is trending wide/boxy). Levi's and Gap are just all over the place re fit and quality even 2 different color of 511 or whatever. Sonoma and Goodfellow shrink wrinkle and pill. Just my experience.
The answer: 100% worth it but, like any brand, you can skip some pieces. Hope yall enjoyed the video. Let me know what you wanna see next 🙏
what was the size of the heated padded jacket ?

GU is completely worth the hype! I shop at Uniqlo a lot and GU designs/colorways are sometimes better.

Leaving Japan today and GU was a place I often went back too because the price, quality and style was just there. Too hard to resist!
Can't front in being much cheaper and duty free than the US uniqlos. Jeans for $23 vs $50usd....hell yes.

Wait a sec. Did they just take a page off Seiko's playbook and call themselves Grand Uniqlo (GU)?
🤔🤔🤔
if only they shipped to canada
🔥🔥🔥
Soo fire
I would go as far as GU is much better than Uniqlo, heavier cottons and stylish clothes.
Lightsaber mic
👏👏👏
What size did you get in the heat padded jacket?
