Thanks much for helping me with this Bruce. I owe Chris even more for sure and I will make good with him. Wearing the Tuna now and loving it. I am still and will always be a Seiko fanboy (even though it’s hard at times).
I’ve had the SBBN031 for a long time a year ago. I then traded it for an SLA021. The MM300 tuna is such an awesome beautiful Seiko! I really miss it, now considering rebying. Thanks for showing Bruce!
If it makes you feel any better, my essentially new Tudor Black Bay Chrono (purchased from AD on 7/10) went back to the AD for warranty service on 10/8, for the broken pushers. No word on when I'll get it back.
I have the same watch with a new double dome blue. love it I put the older model band on it ,,ive had the white face Daytona too much attention so sold it it didn't kept time anywhere like this one. a few sec off a year. crazy. I live big island and you can't really take a Rolex in the ocean. you can with a seiko daily did mine for many years ,,alway ticking
All those notes are just for their internal use. They want to make sure they return the watch to you not in worse condition than you sent it. No strap received is just a way to make the watchmaker does not go crazy looking for a bracelet thinking that they misplaced it somewhere.
@@BruceWilliams Just curious here But did you ask them to confirm whether the warranty starts from when you sent it in or when you received it back? cuz if it's the latter, that's misleading at best if they advertise the service as coming with a 1 year warranty...
I think that is a while to wait, but I think the current situation in the world is making things take longer- restrictions plus supply chain issues.. I had a watch sent to Switzerland for warranty work and it to about 4 months, much longer than originally quoted. Glad to see this got fixed though ,a great watch. I really love mine.
They just swap quartz and entry-level autos whenever a major service is needed. Unless it's a really good movement like 6L, 8L or Sprindrives it's way cheaper for them to just replace it for a brand new one. The so-called "cost for servicing" is the new movement plus a huge profit.
@@BruceWilliams Inside info from Seiko US in NJ. It always takes months, either for more expensive movements to be sent back to Japan for service, or for the headquarters to receive and approve the order for the movement to be replaced and send it off.
I have this one as well as the "Ninja Tuna". I know you are not crazy about the broad pointer hands, but to me personally, it makes the watch. Large, llegible and that dominates the dial. The newer hands seem too common and tries to be too fancy for my liking. But that's just me though. Unpopular opinion. Either way, great video Bruce.
I bring all my JDM Seiko to Japan for any type of servicing…always perfect customer service. I have a nighmare experience last time I sent one of my watch to Seiko Service in Mahwah NJ
NEVER send a watch to the Seiko repair center in NJ ! I have a 600m quartz tuna. I am the original owner and really take care of it. The past two times I sent the watch to them for a battery change, they somehow got water in the case, and, sent it back to me. The first time, I opened the box and saw a tiny droplet of fluid on the inside of the crystal. I sent it back to them and they said it was water and that I must have taken it diving without locking down the crown. I told them that I would not have even unscrewed the crown as they sent it to me with the correct time and date and that I have not gone diving in over 20 years. They then said I must have taken it in the shower without locking down the crown. I told them that I never showered with a watch on as the hot temperature and humidity was bad for a watch. After some arguing, they admitted fault and repaired it. The last time I sent it for a battery change, the same thing happened, only this time, I took a video of me opening the box when the watch was returned to me. Sure enough, water droplets on the inside of the watch crystal. Not only that, but the hands and face showed water damage. I sent it back to them and emailed them the video. They had to have the watch totally restored which took a few months since they no longer had correct hands or a face in stock. Now, I send it to someone who specializes in high-end and dive watches.
I own 2 seikos and 1 grand seiko. All iconic peices in my collection. Other than these specific peices , I've looked at many , many seikos , but have never caught the bug for seilos . I have the iconic SKX 007J1 , a SLA037J. and a Grand Seiko 5645-8000 . I've always admired their watches , but they have certainly changed their business practices as we as prices . Everytime I see another add for a "Seiko 5 Limited Edition " I just laugh . It's gotten old quickly. They're kinda on m uh sh*t list . LOL
Seiko doesn't seem to prioritise after sales service. I ordered a replacement dial for my watch in May 2021 and was told it would take 3 months for it to reach Singapore from Japan. It's Nov now and still no update from the Singapore Service Centre ,Thong Sia
Thanks for sharing your experience. Just curious if you had asked them why it took so long? And I think more importantly clarify with them when the 1 year warranty starts? 🙂
The only reason why it wasn’t covered under warranty is because they could tell it was opened unofficially and messed with. This is to be expected. Also keep in mind this service time was during the peak of Covid
Too bad about th sapphire not workable. I had purchased a few in the past from ct and my certified watchmaker said the same and showed me. The crystals were not a 1:1 match. They have too be exact with bevels and all. Dagaz had 1:1 sapphires in the past though
I bought a CT007 (Crystal Times Tuna Sapphire Crystal) for my SBBN031 and had it installed by Northeast Watch Works. It seems to fit perfectly fine and they didn't say anything about having problems installing it. Maybe you just got a faulty crystal?
I wonder, what were/was the symptoms of a failing watch?(this particular watch). Or to be more precise, what did the watchmaker notice to say that the movement was failing?
Fitted crystal times sapphire to my padi tuna, what a rubbish fit, took it out and and ordered double domed sapphire crystal with no ar from China and fitted perfectly. One question though why did your watch maker remove case back and movement from watch when their is no need too when changing crystals? Small chance he could have damaged movement himself? Doubt he did but why remove it in first place. Glad it sorted such a stunning watch 👍
My watch repair experiences have not been very successful personally. One repair took 3 days, when it had a problem 4 weeks later, it took 6 months and was sent back with no explanation or apology for the delay. Just showed up in the mail.

Thanks for the vid and history. Guess I’m in the family now; just bought it from Rob.

Cool. 90 days seems excessive, nevermind 6+ months 😱!!!!
Thank you Bruce 👍👍

Tudor QC has been shit since covid started. The amount of issues i see on forums are outstanding.
Tuna is lovely watch, I have the 015 in my collection 👌

I love the Tuna with the black sapphire bezel insert
Great watch, nice review. Keep up the great videos.
Love the Tuna. Can't believe it took that long to repair. Looks like you made some people at Seiko mad with all the thumbs down!
Lol I have my haters

Wouldn't be surprised

Hi Bruce, can you help to review the SPD213J1 next? Love to hear your thoughts on it.
7 months to change a quartz movement, that's crazy
Agreed
I nearly bought the crystal times sapphire crystal for my SBBN tuna, good to know that I dodged a bullet.
Skip yobokies as well, the tuna sapphire was worst than original hardlex glass
Certainly makes me think twice about sending my nearly 50 year old “Tuna” in to Seiko for a service / refurbishment.
I sent in my King Turtle last month to Seiko and it was returned to me two weeks later.

7 months is ridiculous, also I feel like they should have replaced the movement for free.
$164 is a good deal for all that.

another warning example not to send your watches in for service if possible
Thanks for sharing your experience. Just curious if you had asked them why it took so long? And I think more importantly clarify with them when the 1 year warranty starts? 🙂
How was it NOT covered by the warranty? Was it because it was bought overseas (ie Gnomon) and serviced in the US?
covid makes part source hard

Best lume on most watches not only seiko
Are the crystals swappable?

DO NOT BUY FROM CRYSTAL TIMES I ORDER ITEMS TO MOD MY SKX BY A PROFESSIONAL AND BEZEL AND DOUBLE DOOMED CRUSTAL WERE INCOMPATIBLE TO SKX…
Ah yes, a “double doomed crustal”.
😅😂🤣
Don't like Seiko at all but this one looks very nice
Random 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
