When humans all have this woman's heart, then, the world will be a wonderful place!
This is how we gain wisdom about ourselves and life. We push ourselves just as this young woman did, and we discover the strength and capacity for selflessness that most of us really do have inside. Senior dogs are the best.
Well said 🥰🤩
What a beautiful way of saying how this video taught us all. Thank you.
Agreed, lucysmom26! So beautifully written! 💕💕
❤
It easier to become selfless when the dog is adorable! It helps matters!
I love senior dogs, I volunteered at my local shelter for over 8 years and I always gave the seniors the most attention and treats, I also walked them the most. Everyone always went straight to the young dogs or the puppies, not me. I knew that their time here was limited and very rarely were the seniors adopted, so they got all my attention. Now that I’m old and disabled I understand more of what these poor dogs went through. 🙏🏻
God bless you. I am also disabled. I appreciate what you’ve done, and I loved watching this story as well reading this comment and watching the story made me smile.
Thank you for being so thoughtful and for giving the older pups care and attention.
❤❤
I took my neighbor's senior dog after they didn't want her anymore. She was precious. If I had the money I would have a senior dogs rescue.
You certainly have the kindness to do so.
@@shirley9240 Thank you. That's sweet of you to say.
You do you just DON'T know it. Take the LEAP. Its REWARDING for all.
What the hell is wrong with your neighbors!?! You don't get rid of a dog just because it's getting old! They aren't some gadget that gets replaced every few years.
Like yeah it's heartbreaking when it's the very END and it's time to put an end to whatever pain they're in. But you don't abandon them - it's like Cap & Bucky say "I'm with you until the end of the line".
**ARE YOU "KIDDING" ME!!? HOW COULD "ANYONE" JUST THROW THEIR BEAUTIFUL PRECIOUS INNOCENT "SENIOR DOG" AWAY LIKE THAT!!? HEARTLESS BASTARDS!! WHEN "THEY" GET OLD - **THAT'S WHEN KARMA COMES BACK ONTO THEM, MY FRIEND!!
Even though their bodies get old, they still have their inner puppy that just wants to play. ❤
i wish everyone could see what senior dogs have to offer.
I have a 14 year old lab mix. She is in good health and we still walk everyday. I will adopt an older dog again.
@@LCx829 ok very good you helpfull family dog thanks

yes she is a very cute dog thank you the dodo
Once you gain there trust you have a best friend for life I have three German shepherds all are rescue dogs and will live with me till there end and be spoilt rotten that's what they deserve,
I love senior dogs too. I had a story about adopting a senior dog. Her name was Ruby. She was a 9-year-old Akita. She was slow and mellow. She taught a young man to stop being afraid of dogs. He'd cower away from her, but she would howl and nuzzle his arm. Eventually, the young man started petting her and made a wonderful friend. Ruby lived to be 18 years old. Then, I had to help her cross the Rainbow Bridge. I still think about her daily. She was such a love! I took her everywhere. She loved car rides.
Beautiful story. I'm an Akita owner myself. Special dogs
This woman is an angel. God bless her!
God Bless them both~~Beautiful story~~
Senior pups are so awesome. Go out and get you one. :)
The people saying they won't adopt a senior dog because of they don't have many years left are thinking about themselves. It should be about the dog being happy.
Absolutely!
why can’t everyone see how amazing senior dogs are?
@Jim Jam bro are you serious? just because they don’t have a long lifespan, they are still wonderful dogs.
@@teddy5269 I don’t think JimJam was saying that dogs aren’t amazing.
@@crusader2112 but it feels like he’s saying senior dogs are worse
@@teddy5269 He just said, all dogs are amazing, but they have really short lifespans.
However, I agree with you all dogs are amazing, no matter their age you get one.
Peace. ✌🏻
@@teddy5269 sorry man but u need to think for a bit before typing, losing a dog is a bit like losing a family member this is 1 of the biggest reasons ppl dont want to adopt senior animals, why?....cus they are closer to dieing? ppl get attached to the animal and seeing it dead is SOOO PAINFUL.
Senior dogs deserve to get adopted but imo i would prefer to have 1 dog for 9 years than 3 senior dogs with a lifespan of 2-3 years each
We brought home a senior dog 2 weeks go. We were told he had lived in shelters his whole life and had signs of neglect and abuse. The first week was up and down and he had a few accidents. But he's decompressing. The past few nights when he lies down on the bed, he sighs loudly when I scratch his ears, and put my cheek on top of his head and tell him he's home now.
You are a truly good person.
Seeing Alaska get the zoomies in the back yard made me cry. She finally was happy!!
me too, I am a softy and and so happy for Alaska
Same damnit. I'm crying from those zoomies

Senior Animals are the best! My last Cat had been in a shelter 5 months. She was a week from death because at 10 years old (roughly) no one wanted an 'old' cat. We had her 11 years! She was so loving and fun and full of energy. She rode on my shoulder like a parrot. Never underestimate animals no matter how long we are blessed to have them, rescues rock! 🐾🐈🌈
I adopted an 11-year old German Shepherd one year ago this month. She had so much anxiety and it took a full year, but she has gradually transformed.
that is an extremely kind deed you have done. thank you!♥
Thank you and wishing all the best to you both! 💖🐶💖👍😇
Thanks for adopting her!
Thank u for saving her! GSDs are the best and it takes so much patience to get shelter dogs to a point where they feel safe and loved! Bravo!
@@christinebuckingham8369 so much love to you. 💕💕💕
You saved this beautiful dog's life! You had feelings for him, but did not let his age get in the way, instead what you saw was a dog, being cheated out of being in a loving home! God bless you! You gave hope, comfort, fresh air and walks, kisses and hugs, in a forever home! How about that! You changed his life, and made it better and most of all you both fell in love! Isn't that great.
Hello
It's our job as senior pet adopters to try to undo the damage, disappointment and distrust these animals have for humans. I adopted my 14 year old guy a year ago and in an uncertain world, I can 100% guarantee you he will never spend another night in a shelter.
Your amazing, I knew you could do it.
God bless your heart for helping a
senior dog. I wish all of us would help and save the animals around us, our world will become a better place for everyone.
Are you wanting me to cry? 🙂
Thank you! So many thankful tears regarding the comments about people adopting seniors.
Hello
I worked for ten years or so in no-kill (low kill really ) shelters. My heart, my whole heart was with those senior dogs. especially the ones who lived ten, twelve years on a chain, or in a cage. THE most rewarding thing was to adopt those dogs. they are thrown away, like an old piece of luggage or a broken toy. To give their last days as much warmth, comfort, and food and safety- that they never had? PRICELESS. WORTH every tear shed and every inconvenience and extra work. Highly recommend everyone stretch their hearts- that dog will fit nicely in there.
Your last sentence made me cry.
I have adopted two senior dogs - a yellow Lab named Katie who was 13 years old and a little 5 pound black Pomeranian named Mitzi. I don’t think I’ve known more appreciative and loving dogs than those. They were in my home at two totally different times so they got a lot of 1 on 1 attention. Thanks so much for saving your girl !
The little one in my profile pic is half Pom, half Chihuahua. She was adopted at age 6, and is now so bonded to me, I have to watch my feet to avoid stepping on her!
@@adventureswithdogs2251 Mitzi was the same way. All five pounds of her. I sure miss her as well as Katie. Have fun ! Give her a hug for me !
@@JackieDannenberg For sure! Sorry to hear you had to go through that loss. We lost our big guy a couple years ago. We know that someday we'll have to say goodbye, but the love they give us is worth it.
That is so wonderful. Thank you for adopting senior dogs and giving them a chance
I Agree having done the same but didn’t have another dog after my dog Moe of 14 years old died and I was without a dog heartbroken and at that point wasn’t ready to get another dog because of being so heartbroken but then I got this partially blind dog that I loved and got so used to her but after approximately a couple years she got totally blind and was unable to walk or even had problems during her business so unfortunately because of the pain she was in I had her Put to sleep! Because when I brought her to the vet hospital I asked if there was anything that they could do and was told that she was not going to get any better so that’s when she was givien the shot after myself and my fiancé said our goodbyes and kissed her but Knew she would Not be in pain Anymore And My belief is she is in Heaven !
God Bless You for saving that beautiful, sweet dog!!
Hello Susan........
Hello
Anyone who says dogs are purely instinctual and can't feel love has clearly never had a dog. Alaska proves that love is an innate quality of dogs.
100% agree 👍🏻
I've defeated many dogs in open combat, and they were all extremely honorable.

The part where Alaska fell asleep when she was being given a bath just made me so sad. I am glad this young lady adopted her and decides to keep Alaska to live whatever's left of her golden years in a real home🙏.
I adopted a senior dog 🐶 at 12 yrs of age & she passed at 16 yrs old. I wish I had her longer! I think about her all the time! I really miss her! Woof! ❤️🐾

This is one of the sweetest adoption stories ever. It made me cry tears of happiness for this beautiful dog. You are a great human young lady.
This dog realized she was loved. I remember seeing another video or commercial on adopting senior pets, which helped me make my decision on adopting a cat from the shelter once I lost my previous sidekick. She was 10 when I adopted her and now 14. I have learned her habits and hopefully she's adjusted to mine as well. 😂
Bravo!! 👏 14 years old, you are a loving, caring pet parent, giving your baby the best life! ❤️
@@shirley9240 Thank you 👋🏾🦋
As with cats also when "pets" get too old they're tossed aside. Can't understand how anyone could be this cruel. A happy ending. Something we all could use. God bless you for rescuing this sweetie.
Hello Mary.......
Because something very bad happened to human many years ago. He succumbed to the lure of power and started eating creatures after making them suffer. From there we got sick to the point of war. But now we are compensating. Those of us who know unconditional Love are helping to heal the entire species. Force! We have a big task!
Seniors are where it’s at. They still have some spunk, but are pretty mellow. They just want to love, and be loved. My 12 year old Charlie was adopted at age 10, and he is our world. Give senior dogs a chance. People argue it’s too hard to lose them so soon, but I’d argue the bond is even more intense, because they have needed love, and wanted to give love for so long. They will be your best friend, your family, and occupy your whole heart, just give them the chance.
And just think about how happy you've made that doggy before he's chasing squirrels in heaven. He'll tell everyone up there how awesome you are :- )
Yes he WILL!!
I absolutely ADORE senior dogs. If you can afford the care it's takes to have an older pet, please do so. Dog or cat. They deserve all the love they can before the end.
I so agree! My sister adopted a senior Akita, Simba. Even though she only had him 6 months before he passed, I know they were the happiest, loving time of his life.
@@IIII...... Not everyone likes people. Or has any intention on having kids. OR they have big enough hearts to take in pets as well as raise a family. You might have a cold heart, but not everyone is as selfish as you and has the love to spare for more than themselves and their wants.
@@hannahreynolds7611 Really? That's so lovely! I wish we had that kind of system here in America. I think there would be fewer senior pets in shelters if that were the case
@@IIII...... What are you DOING on this page then you absolute nutjob?!

How dogs change when they feel loved
How we all do!
Your willingness to give a senior dog a second life is so incredibly sweet! I adopted a 10-year-old senior dog, he was so miserable on the first day I brought him home, but watching him open up, and finally realize and recognize that he is loved was such a special experience for me, that when I finally lost him, there was a hole in my heart that was difficult to mend. I just adopted a young dog a few months ago, and now I realize that both of us need to go to the shelter and pick out the perfect senior dog for both of us. Give them the life that we all deserve. To commemorate that special boy that warmed my heart and broke my heart.
There are many benefits to having children who interact with animals as well as adults. For example, by taking care of pets, which are fragile, irreplaceable creatures and taking care of them, making it easier for them to grow Compassionate and warm hearted. Also, by observing changes in a pet that cannot talk on a daily basis, you can feel the effect of being gentle and sensitive to people's feelings. Both of these effects are created over a long period of time, not only by temporary contact, but also by the relaxing effect of being together. Even if you cannot live as a pet, it is a good idea to interact with the animals from time to time and support the animal channels😻🐈🙏🙏
Senior dogs have an incredible amount of LOVE to offer! No worries about puppy demolition of furniture & etc. Most times, already potty trained. They have so much grateful love for their New Human parent, because they have experienced the heartache of loneliness in a sea of grieving dogs!
Everyone is more adaptable than they realize. Thank you for realizing your strength and caring for that beautiful soul!!! 🌞

Adopting a senior dog is SO rewarding. Our rescue Rottie Daisy gave us so much in the years we had with her and we made her life so happy. We'll never forget her...
That dog truly needed a friend and you, my dear lady, were the perfect fit.
We adopted an 8yr old girl in 2015. I'm really glad no one referred to her as a "senior dog". I thought... 8 is a good age! Not too young (we definitely did not want a puppy) not too old.
She was so strong, lots of energy for walks. She has slowed down, but she's been such a love. A bit of a challenge at the beginning after having a smaller dog but now that she's at least 15, I try not to think of life without her. 💞
She looks just like a young dog again! Wow! What a wonderful transformation. God bless you for rescuing her...😊
Older dogs are wonderful.. they have character of a life.. they just want to fit into your life.. they dont go running off... digging up everything... barking.. and causing mayhem...they maybe less years but they are more meaningful.
She looks lovely ...you just want to give her a big hug...

Older animals usually take more time and effort to develop a trusting bond. We rarely know their complete backstory. But perseverance pays off. And it is SO worth it!

Adopting/rescuing senior dogs is the kindest thing a human can do. Compassion, empathetic and understanding for animals is an understatement. If humans don't possess this; they are not truly human. Just my opinion.
Senior dogs deserve love ❤️ and care
