Owned a 2019 Cayenne S that had these optional brakes. As the guys said, they are challenging to modulate for comfortable stops. However, the bigger issue is the brakes squeak. There's nothing you can do to make them not squeak. Porsche knows this is an issue and says "it's not a defect, they're racing brakes and sometimes they squeak." For us, they squeaked so bad, we ended up selling the car after 6 months. We took the car to the dealer multiple times and were told there's no solution. There is no ability to down-select to standard brakes given these are a unique size (or something like that). Car was incredible to drive, but we just couldn't take the brakes. Also agree that the radio station scrolling is poorly designed.
I don't understand everyone complaining about the exhaust. It sounds like every single v8 that has featured on this channel from Mercedes to a mustang. The microphone muffles the actual sound as it's close to the exhaust tips much like every other channel on RUclips when they pick up the noise straight from the point of contact. I can tell you in person from experience, it sounds great!
Great review! I purchased a 2019 Cayenne Turbo in January. Amazing machine. The whistling sound you referenced is not coming from the sunroof. It occurs when the active spoiler is raised. Manually lowering it on the nav screen eliminates the whistling. Your channel is my favorite car review channel on RUclips. Keep up the great work!!
@@laurenbauerschmidt871tried both long enough. Many people think the GTS sound better, i like the Turbo more because you get the popcorn sound effect at all speeds, the GTS rarely do that. 0-62mph as tested with chrono package is 4.35s for the GTS and 3.91 for the Turbo. If I were you, I will base my decision based on the mechanical systems each one got, for me these features are a must if you drive aggresively since they made a HUGE difference. In order, PDCC, Rear Wheels Steering, PTV+, PCCB. Also I highly recommend the HUD and Burmester sound system since the Bose sound horrible. Good luck!

My wife and I were looking for a luxury SUV with good towing capacity for a boat, fast V8, and fun to drive. We were selecting between the GLE 63 S Coupe, Trackhawk, and Cayenne Turbo S. After testing all 3 [we tested a Cayenne GTS], we chose the Cayenne Turbo S. The GLE 63 S Coupe felt too truckish. The Trackhawk was too noisy, and not in a good way. My wife is in love with the Cayenne. I enjoy driving it because it doesn't feel like you're driving a 5,000 lbs SUV, and I can hustle it around corners without worrying about careening off the other side of the road. It's luxurious. It's fast. It's quiet on the road. It can tow a boat. It can go offroad with confidence. The Cayenne Turbo S truly is "all the things." So far, my only gripes are the center console has pretty much zero storage space for anything, the cup holders are too shallow, the armrest isn't comfortably usable when you have cups, and the "peasant blockers" rattle when they're not deployed.
@@DiaperSNiFFER then again, the brakes last a dang long time. The tungsten carbide brakes on this model last 30% longer than steels and the carbon ceramics last even longer.

This is a perfect daily driver car combining extra performance with a nice luxurious smooth ride and a very practical car all at once. I would recommend the Porsche Cayenne Turbo because it has such sleek and interior styling while the exterior looks bulbous that's the only thing that throws me off is exterior; not counting headlights or taillights cause they have a great and unique design. Thanks The Straight Pipes.
I bought the perfect optioned 2016 Porsche Cayenne. Its a V6, no turbo, no oversize squeeky break pads or calipers, its got enough horsepower and handling for city driving. Before buying I researched all the shit that could go wrong or difficulty in fixing whatever needed to be repaired. Those are the very reasons why I chose the base model. Ptetty happy with it.
Because of this channel, I have to look at the driver of any car with Ontario tags to make sure you didn't make a wrong turn off of Cliche Corner. I love the colour of the car. It needs darker wheel though.
Yeah we don't have satellite radio here in Germany, he have something called DAB+. It's digital radio but not over satellite. And it's free. Nice video btw. :D
Free digital radio also exists in North America. Usually it's referred to as HD Radio. Only difference from DAB+ is it uses a different audio codec. The biggest issue in lower population States, like most of Canada or the US West coast, is you end up driving out of the range of FM/HD Radio stations pretty quickly so Satellite Radio is very nice on long road trips. Although at this point I just stream Spotify and ignore all radio.
lmaooo I work for Porsche and I can't agree with you more on the surface coated brakes. They're amazing, but I can't get used to them. Face in the dash every-single-time.
2:57 The Night Vision Camera is on the far right under the headlight. I think it uses a ZF 8 speed instead of a PDK because the Q7, Q8, Cayenne, Urus, Bentayga are share a similar platform.
I'm so glad you talked about the brakes, those things are MASSIVE! I saw one on the road the other day with 20" wheels and it almost looked like just hubcaps in the front lol. Couldn't tell where brakes ended and wheels began hahahaha! My wife would have to lean her seat back into the rear of the car to avoid faceplanting while braking.
I will take this over a Trackhawk any day, all day! Not in purple though, lol. In Black on Black, it looks like Darth Vader's chariot! The sport exhaust sounds better in person. It can tow 7700lbs and handle all types of terrain with the air suspension. The interior is amazing and the handling is awesome. Motorweek timed this beast at 3.6 seconds 0-60 and 12 flat in the quarter mile. In 2022, it came with Android Auto as well as Carplay. It's the definition of a Sport Utility Vehicle! 🏁
I think Porsche engineers lack ears, since it sounds like an atv under hard acceleration. Interior is nice and not too busy though. Exterior looks decent from the rear as well. With that said, I'll take the new BMW X5 M or the AMG GLE 63 S over this any day of the week. The Cayanne lacks in too many departments, especially for that kind of money.
Here's another way to look at it guys. A 20's or 30's something girlfriend would want you to pull up in a Porsche rather than a Trackhawk all day long. Younger women understand cache.
The 16’ GTi Apple CarPlay has the favorite button on the steering wheel. I believe it was the same design/engineering team the works on Porches, so I don’t get why the GTi got more refinement in some areas than Porche did.
I’d totally get the cayenne coupe in lava orange with the carbon roof and black pack! Looks so so badass, yet super practical to actually use everyday 😁
Dr. Q I’m now 4 years and 87,000 kilometres into it, and haven’t had any major issues. The few issues have included: -Passenger soft close door failed and was fixed under warranty -rattle in the exhaust pipe fixed under warranty -small tear on side of drivers seat. Fixed under warranty since I have the “care and protection” package or whatever it’s called -getting the whole front of the car repainted next month by bmw due to excessive rock chips. Not the cars fault, just due to the fact almost all the mileage on the car is highway driving. Free since I have the paint protection package. And that’s about it. While it hasn’t been absolutely flawless, it’s been a very pleasant ownership overall and the issues have been very minor. One thing I would say is if you want a comfortable ride, stick with the base 19” rim and tire setup. The optional upgraded 20” rims with the 315mm performance times I have look amazing and handle much better, but are very rough over bumps and uneven roads. I was actually only planning to keep my X5 4 years and then trade it in on either a Q8 or new X5, but I like it so much I’ve decided to extend the warranty by 2 years and I’m going to keep it until 5 1/2 years or so, allowing me to purchase a fun, second car for the weekend. How it compares to its competitors: I test drove the 2016 GLE 450 AMG, the 2017 Audi Q7, the 2016 Lexus RX and the X5 when choosing. X5 Vs. GLE 450- The GLE was much faster and more fun since it had an AMG motor, and the exhaust sounded amazing. It drove like a proper sports sedan almost and was so fun I didn’t want to end the test drive. The one reason I didn’t buy the GLE was the interior. It was so incredibly outdated and cheap looking compared to the Audi and the BMW. The new GLE has an amazing interior, but I don’t like the exterior on the new one. X5 Vs. Q7: The Q7 was honestly a more well rounded car than the X5. It was slightly faster, had more cargo and interior space, and had a nicer interior with slightly more tech. The only reason I didn’t go for the Q7 was because I hated the looks of it (thought it looked like a station wagon on steroids), I didn’t need the extra space in the Q7 over the X5, and I’ve had many issues with my past Audi’s, so I didn’t want to risk it again. However the Q7 is honestly probably the best vehicle in the segment if you need the extra space and third row. I just didn’t need such a big car. X5 Vs. RX: wasn’t even a comparison. I was wondering why the RX was so much cheaper than the X5 and as soon as I drove it I understood why. The RX drove terribly in my opinion. It was slow, the passing power wasn’t great, the brakes felt squishy and unnatural, the steering was genuinely terrible and the car kinda pondered in the direction of the wheels, and the suspension was so soft it bounced like a school bus every time You hit a bump. I’m sure old people liked this but I hated it. Test driving the X5 after the RX made me feel like a steeped from a corolla to a Ferrari lol. The X5 is in a completely different league than the RX. Overall, the X5 fit my needs the best. I love the styling, the Powertrain and transmission, the interior tech and the quality. Only things I don’t like about the car are so many optional features (just like all German cars), and the interior is getting quite outdated. Amazing car overal though.
Dr. Q Everyone who says German cars are unreliable are people who only buy Japanese and either can’t afford a German car or have never owned one. I’ve owned many of them, and have only had a major issue with one of the Audi’s.
It's a common problem with panoramic roofs in the Cayennes. Our 11year old Cayenne now has the same whistle sound. It's because one of the pillar thinges kind of failed as the it came off of the glass.
I wish I had been in town...just so you could have had a direct comparison for straight line speed. This is the only SUV I’d consider over the Trackhawk, but the cost out the door and the way higher costs of ownership will probably keep me in American metal.

I would recommend the Porsche Cayenne Turbo because it has such sleek and interior styling while the exterior looks bulbous that's the only thing that throws me off is exterior; not counting headlights or taillights cause they have a great and unique design. Thanks The Straight Pipes.
That purple looks awesome.
I'm Yuri, I'm Jacob I'm going for a drive in an Audi Q8!!! PLEASE!
I thought he was kidding about the 40k in options!
Trackhawk btw. I was next to one for a few miles yesterday and that whine made me smile every time!
Wow... I'm motivated now if it's that good
Best car review channel. And they are from Canada too
Yes sir Toronto Canada 🇨🇦
For sure x5m when it comes out
And second option would be gle coupe when the new one comes out
as a german i am pleased to hear the "e" at the end of Porsche. It´s always ridiculous to hear english speaking reviewers saying "Porsch"....
DoJo - Gaming and more Not coincidentally, they are bilingual. So they understand that not all languages are pronounced like English.
Ich finde die übertriebene Aussprache vom „e“ noch schlimmer - höre zu oft von anderen Englischsprachigen „Porschäe“
Because of this channel, I have to look at the driver of any car with Ontario tags to make sure you didn't make a wrong turn off of Cliche Corner. I love the colour of the car. It needs darker wheel though.
I've Waited so long for this review. I have the old Cayenne Turbo 958 it's awesome like in the Video 👍👍👍👍👍😎😎😎
The transmission is better for towing
Love these two so much favorite youtube channe!!!
Current facelifted Macan's analog/digital button proportion is the sweet spot. :)
This guys are awesome 👏🏻
I really like this format. Most reviewers are horrible. This and carwow really works
Thanks. Mat Watson is awesome. Watch our bmw x3m competition review 😉
3:10 have you seen the size of those brakes that's insane! 10 pistons!! WAT
Cayenne turbo for sure. I have the 2011 and LOVE it each mile I drive it.
What car did you use to film the external shot of the launch?
Could you guys do some night shots as well?
Night shots would be awesome
I'm so glad you talked about the brakes, those things are MASSIVE! I saw one on the road the other day with 20" wheels and it almost looked like just hubcaps in the front lol. Couldn't tell where brakes ended and wheels began hahahaha! My wife would have to lean her seat back into the rear of the car to avoid faceplanting while braking.
I am a big Porsche fan, but I have to say the accelaration sounds like a mixure of farts and my dad snoring.
At 13:15 is that the raptor parked at cliche corner?
Why can’t anyone get a turbo v8 exhaust to sound decent it sound good in the inside but outside is a no go
Heard the Ferrari yet???
Thomas Welcomer yes I have heard a 458 and 488 and the 458 still sound better a turbo kills the sound only good turbo v8 will have to go to amg
SVR !
@@as9211 svr is not turbo charged
@@muradorujov6188 thanks Murad Orujov. SVR is supercharged of course.
Under the video, where it shows merch, it doesn't show a cliche corner t-shirt. Is there one?
Go to the site
@@TheStraightPipes Thanks. Will be my first RUclips t-shirt :)
Jesus! With what did you film the performance start? Even the Cayenne Turbo couldn't catch up to it! 😱
Christophe Schaber ;-)
Never underestimate the power of a Honda Element
@@lyubomirgeorgiev1465 You spelled "Honda Excrement" wrong

Another good review, good honest content!
The question is what car are you filming the Cayenne with ? It almost as fast as the Cayenne when you did the launch control
Gabriel Skl 😜 Yuri running with a gimbal
You have to apply for filming the acceleration of the Chiron then
It was actually my Raptor
I was sure it was your Raptor. Nothing can beat that big ol' V8
It lacks where?
Cayenne over any others...no contest!
Here's another way to look at it guys. A 20's or 30's something girlfriend would want you to pull up in a Porsche rather than a Trackhawk all day long. Younger women understand cache.
Did the exhaust have chili for lunch? 🙊💩
2020 might be my year for Porsche as I always loved that car!
Finally! Back to reviewing spectacular cars that I can't afford :)
The 16’ GTi Apple CarPlay has the favorite button on the steering wheel. I believe it was the same design/engineering team the works on Porches, so I don’t get why the GTi got more refinement in some areas than Porche did.
Notification squad ✌️
this legit sounds better than a cayenne turbo gt in europe
I was already scrolling down to see if there's an angry mob complaining there's no visor test.
That colour is awesome!
Where's the picture of Yuri and Jakub's head sticking out on the bottom left corner?
Tshepang * no one clicked those. Back to just the car
Notification send me there 😋
Li Samuel me too
I’d totally get the cayenne coupe in lava orange with the carbon roof and black pack! Looks so so badass, yet super practical to actually use everyday 😁
Question real quick, can I buy this car if my bank 🏦 account has $97.60 in it?
Omar Rochet if your credit score is 800 yes
Top notch , always a pleasure to watch this channel , keep the good work🇨🇦
I love the cayenne, but that exhaust sound and color are GOD AWFUL. Made it difficult to even watch the video
It sounds like that only on video. In real life it sounds so good.
On my 3rd Cayenne s! It's the best SUV for its money
That sounds like an old tractor.
Great video guys! Love this purple!
So purple.... It looks like an eggplant... A really really fast eggplant...
Perfect for eggplant Friday🍆
@ 3:42: An overly-sensitive brake pedal that is difficult to modulate because the calipers to grab too early do not warrant an A+.
Plastic cladding does not belong on upper trims.
You can scroll through favorites, it’s just done through the digital dash using the scroll wheel rather than having a specific button
Will you please do a review on the Lexus LX 570?
Cayenne Coupé for sure!
Anyone who would take the X5 over the Cayenne has never lived with and owned a BMW.
Mike Wilms I live with an X5, and I would take it over a Cayenne. As consumer reports said, the X5 is much more well rounded than the cayenne.
Dr. Q I’m now 4 years and 87,000 kilometres into it, and haven’t had any major issues. The few issues have included:
-Passenger soft close door failed and was fixed under warranty
-rattle in the exhaust pipe fixed under warranty
-small tear on side of drivers seat. Fixed under warranty since I have the “care and protection” package or whatever it’s called
-getting the whole front of the car repainted next month by bmw due to excessive rock chips.
How it compares to its competitors:
I test drove the 2016 GLE 450 AMG, the 2017 Audi Q7, the 2016 Lexus RX and the X5 when choosing.
Dr. Q Having to fill it with 91 is a big thing though.
It's a common problem with panoramic roofs in the Cayennes. Our 11year old Cayenne now has the same whistle sound. It's because one of the pillar thinges kind of failed as the it came off of the glass.
Imagine if a car company built a car in collaboration with car reviewers?
Just finished my SAT testing & come back home to a straight pipe video, let’s gooo
Such a great review! Can’t believe I haven’t found you guys earlier!
Instant sub. I’ll be sticking around for a while.
Sorry :p
I wish I had been in town...just so you could have had a direct comparison for straight line speed. This is the only SUV I’d consider over the Trackhawk, but the cost out the door and the way higher costs of ownership will probably keep me in American metal.
It sounds like when you ask a someone to do an impression of a car
