- Overlanding and Camping in Zimbabwe
We kick off our Gonarezhou adventure by staying at one of their developed campsites close to reception, Chipinda Pools. A really great campsite, right on the Runde River, allowing for fishing; with beautiful shady sites and great views of the wildlife enjoying time in the river, or wandering right through camp. This site is unfenced, and Gonarezhou is a Big Five park. There is also no electricity, but hot water is available via solar geyser. Definitely an advised stop when starting on your Gonarezhou exploration, especially if coming via BeitBridge, and the A4 from Chiredzi.

Your videos are wonderfully valuable for those of us that travel southern Africa. A superb channel. Thank you!
Thanks! Glad to hear that 🙏🏽
Would definitely go back to Chipinda. It's a great site. Hope to go back to Gonarezhou very soon
Great setting, I'm surprised there aren't more people going to Gonarezhou
Well done mate. Great and informative video.
Thanks! Appreciate the positive feedback.
I would love to visit this place, thanks for sharing.
Definitely worth visiting. We will certainly do it again. Thanks for the feedback 👍🏾
Great review and content about our beloved Gonaz. Thanks
Thanks! We enjoyed it immensely 👍🏾
NICE VIDEO AND INFORMA
TIVE
Thanks. We enjoyed Gonarezhou in general, they're doing a great job there.
Great review!
Nice campsite. Nice park too!
Great review, thx TG.
Thanks. Nice campsites at Gona. They've done a good job of it.
Campsites were renovated about 4 years ago, but the gonarezhou staff keep it looking pristine. Something many of the other parks (both in Zim and surrounding countries) could definitely learn from.
They're doing a great job. Next trip we'll try some of the other camp sites too. Chinguli looked good, we didn't visit the other sites besides where we stayed (Chipinda Pools, Chilojo Cliffs, and Nyavasikana).
Thanks for great video ! Really enjoyed the footage.how long was the trip ? You said it was winter but what month did you go in? How much did the trip cost including fuel in Rands ?
We spent 7 nights in Gonarezhou in June. The trip was about 10 days. That includes a stopover at Dumela in Mozambique because we were too late to cross the border.
Gona fees were USD 533 in total. Cannot remember what we spent on fuel and Beitbridge border fees.
Hope that's helpful.
Awesome video!! What time of year was this.
That was in June. Good time of year, not too hot.
Thanks, great review!
How far is it from Malawian border?
Thanks for the feedback.
There isn't a Malawi-Zimbabwe border, so you would either have to drive via Zambia (from Lilongwe) or Mozambique (from Blantyre). Either way it's probably a distance of about 1200 km to get to Gona from Malawi.
