My friends introduced me to this show in Season 5. I remember when this moment came, that was when I knew this Doctor guy was freakin awesome and this show was a keeper.
In the Pantheon of fictional heroes, the Doctor is special. You know what I'm talking about. I love so many things, from The Lord of the Rings to Star Wars, from the Avengers to Harry Potter. So many worlds tucked away in my head like glittering pearls on a necklace, and each one of them cherished. But Doctor Who is different. There's something about it, I can't put my finger on it, something about the thought of the Doctor in his TARDIS that makes you think that somehow, he could just show up in any of them, with his sonic screwdriver and a big, goofy grin. And no matter what he’s faced with, be it Dark Lords, Sith Lords, Mad Titans, or Evil Wizards, he’ll find a way to beat them, because he’s the Doctor.
He's a traveller and a wanderer and a goofy madman, but everything he's done shows his true and unchanging colours; he's the eternal hero, the ultimate good in the universe, a force of nature that can appear anywhere at any time. To his friends, he is one of the most loving, compassionate, and emotional people you could meet, to his enemies, he is a ruthless, inescapable and almost supernatural avenging angel, never stopping until justice has been done. The thing that makes him so special though...is that he's not...countless times he has been given the opportunity to ascend above the universe, be the god people always claim him to be, and yet despite everything, he chooses to remain normal...he'll go through the pain, the sadness, the regret, but he'll still try unwaveringly to bring about happiness, joy, love. Really, the Doctor is a bit of everything...teacher, friend, enemy, healer, clown, traveller...hero
+Robert Brown I can see it now, Voldimort and Harry are just about to cast spells at one another and the doctor stumbles in between them. "Oh, Hello. I'm the Doctor, oo, is that a wand? love a wand, me I have a sonic wand, well...screwdriver."

So, if you're sitting up there in your silly little spaceship with all your silly little guns, and you've got any plans on taking the Pandorica tonight, just remember who's standing in your way! "I’ve seen whole armies turn and run away. And he’d just swagger off, back to his TARDIS. And open the doors with a snap of his fingers. The Doctor. In the TARDIS. Next stop: Everywhere." - River Song
"I'm The Doctor. I'm a Time Lord. I'm from the planet Gallifrey in the constellation of Kasterborous. I'm 903 years old, and I'm the man who's gonna save your lives and all 6 billion people on the planet below. You got a problem with that? ... In that case...Allons-y!" -The Tenth Doctor, David Tennant: Voyage of the Damned
Viktor Braginski [CaptainDayren] doctor who in the later generations seems to become more of a badass, while the earlier doctors are more scientific and smart to tell everyone their plan. but i guess in the gap of time called the time war, the doctor got a telepathically activated casette player that plays this song.
goosebumps everytime. I really like David, but the writing with Matt, the episodes, and how he nailed what the idea of the doctor is made his series my favorite. I can basically sum up his entire series with one word... ...goosebumps.
That's EXACTLY what I say to everyone hating on Matt. The story's just too good with the 11th doctor to stop watching, just because your favourite doctor's gone.
My personal favorites were in classic with the seventh doctor when Ace had come onto the scene. I know it's an unpopular opinion but he is incredibly underrated and some of his stories are incredibly deep, like Peter Capaldi episodes. They both show their true colors better than any doctors I have seen and it makes them really great characters. And the way they slick with companions, the companions bring them closer to earth as a teacher while the doctor helps them grow up.
That's nice. I'd like 10s theme played at my funeral (my kids don't know yet!). Pity I won't be around to appreciate the response! However, you walking up the aisle to that choral bit towards the end will be pretty magnificent! Will you be dressed as Amy?
With this song I don't know if I'll be able to walking up because I will need to RUN! I won't be dressed as Amy but there'll be a Tardis and a lot of Doctor Who references and the bridegroom will wear a bowtie! Bowties are cool!
I have some Tardis tree lights you are welcome to use as decorations (technically they belong to my son Matt, but let's not quibble). You will need jelly babies, jammie dodgers for nibbles at the reception, fish fingers and custard, bananas ('Always take a banana to a party Rose' said Ten) and Clara's souffle but no pears: Ten (and seven ) hated pears. Don'y get married in a church with any statues of angels - you never know..
Listen to it on half speed. It's like... like the most beautiful thing ever. Like... how I imagine the sound of the time vortex. What Rose heard when she looked inside the TARDIS. What Donna would have heard when the Ood were singing a happy song. What the Doctor maybe heard when River gave him her regenerations. What the children of Gallifrey thought when the noise of the TARDIS gave them hope, just before the Doctor saved them. What the Master would have heard if the drums hadn't driven him insane, if they inspired him, like they were supposed to. What Clara felt when she went into the Doctor's time stream. That all at once. And it's beautiful.
I'm the Doctor. I'm a Time Lord. I'm from the planet Gallifrey in the constellation of Kasterborous. I'm 903 years old and I'm the man who's gonna save your lives and all 6 billion people below. You got a problem with that?
Hey! You big blue bastard! I'm a time traveller from 17 years in the future. And you don't exist there. Wanna know why? Well, aside from multiverse theory, it's because you die, right here, by my sword!
I listened to this for a week and my house has now collapsed into a inter-universal time well capable of ending the multiverse and many dimensions upon of which this time well has altered will be also ended due to the perfect harmonic chirps of the brass instruments and the melodies of the vocals and the string section, thus creating a link to all dimensions. This force is only halted by the force of a being known as "The Doctor".
As soon as this song starts playing, the villain of said episode should just pack up and go home. Because as soon as you hear this music and you're a bad guy. You're fucked.
Dang it, I was gonna comment that!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fine, bad guys to bad guys say, ALONS-Y!!!! Edit: lol I meant when the song started playing that's what they say.
“If you value your continued existence, if you ever want to see the light of day again, there’s one thing you never put in a trap.” “And what would that be sir?” “Me.”
+Nick Krasny This tune is played whenever Matt Smith decides to do something FLIPPING AMAZING. If you like it now, try having it bring back all those memories of you yelling 'OH YEAH' at your TV.
Because I have lived a LONG life, and I have seen a *few* things. I walked away from the last Great Time War. I marked the passing of the Time Lords. I saw the *birth* of the universe and I watched as time RAN OUT, moment by moment, until NOTHING remained - NO TIME, NO SPACE, *JUST ME*! I walked in universes where the laws of physics were devised by the mind of a *mad* man. And I’ve watched universes freeze, and creation *burn* - I have seen things you WOULDN’T *BELIEVE* AND I HAVE *LOST* THINGS YOU WILL *NEVER* UNDERSTAND - and I know things. Secrets that must never be told. *Knowledge* that must NEVER be *SPOKEN*!
this is the sound of doctor who to me, honestly. 10 and 12 both had some great themes (see Vale Decem and the Shepherd's Boy) but this really just feels like the essence of DW: epic, sudden music that constantly keeps you on the edge of your seat as the Doctor's plans unfold.
1:45 = "oh! OH!! OHHH! Of course, THAT'S what this is about... and now I know. And, because I know, we're going to do something about it... essentially, stopping it. Which they maaaay not like, but then that's why I'm here. I stop the monsters. GERONIMO!"
imagine sitting in a cafe that is in the middle of london and suddenly the song starts playing and you are just waiting for all the daleks to fly pass you with a TARDIS right behind them.
I kind of want Doctor Who to end so that I have all the knowledge of the show by the time I die, but I also want it to exist forever so that everyone can experience the awesomeness. Someday it has to end, though. This is making me sad...
Mrspidey457 I don't think, it will ever end. It may pause, like it did from 1989 to 2005. But when this happenes someone sometime will find the old episodes and will continue with the next doctor.
I didn't catch Matt's Doctor the first time around. Saw him as I filled in my Who DVD/Blu Ray collection. This song now lives in my heart and soul. When I feel broken, beaten down... when I know I still have to fight or keep going... this is the song I fall back to. "Remember every black day I ever stopped you, and then, *and then*, do the smart thing! Let someone else try first."
Although the eleventh doctor is gone, whenever any other doctor makes a speech to some alien invaders, or tells some monsters how he's done something incredibly clever to defeat them instantly, this theme will play in my mind. I may hum it. I may even play it on my phone. But one thing is certain, it will always be there, for me at least. and as we prepare to head off, new companion, new doctor, new writers, this is one time I will always come back to. now, going in to that uncertain future, I have to say just one thing. on phrase. A single word. and that is: geronimo.
I became a Doctor Who fan back in the 80's as a young kid of 7 years old, thinking he was greater than Superman, Spiderman, Batman or any other hero. I was heart broken when he was taken off the air in the 90's. I never really could put my finger on why I loved this Mad Man in a Police Box so much until now, and it is the same reason his character has been resurected and is even more popular today; the world is really sick, and needs a Doctor now!
The Doctor's good for quick removals of alien forces or saving people from simple threats; (at least up through Season 3,) going in and fixing problems native to a society, not so much. (Re: saving the day on Satellite 500 or whatever it was called only for it to become messed up in a different way because the wrong people stepped in to fill the power vacuum he had created.)
Jess Caron The Doctor can fix any problem. See what David Tenant did to Harriot Jones? See what the Doctor did to the Master? The Doctor fixed problems of many different cultures and societies in the old series in the 70's and 80's. Unfortunately he is not real and can't help us.
The problem is, the Doctor created a power void that the Master filled, and the Doctor also jetted off Satellite Five after defeating the evil editors only to have a worse system spring up. His track record of dealing with acute external threats is 100%. His track record for chronic societal problems? I'm only 4 seasons through, but so far, 33% (freeing the Ood).
Jess Caron In the New series of Dr. Who the Doctor (David Tenant) freed the sick clones from the Cats; in the old series Sylvester McCoy ended the happiness patrol; and the Doctor (under Collin Baker) ended slavery in a colony in "Trial of the Time Lord'. And the list goes on If I dig further. His percentage is far greater than 33%. It's more like 80%.
It saddens me to think we will never hear this again in Doctor Who, Matt you were my new series doctor your crazy, wacky, vulnerable, quirky, goofy, assertive, emotional character reminds me of me and yours was teh best music i feel so far created for the series :) i suppose i'l have to Geronimo onwards :) you clever man you :)
"But you're a fool none the less. It's all still waiting for you, the fields of Trenzalore. The fall of the eleventh, and the question. The first question, the question that must never be answered, hidden in plane sight! The question you've been running from all your life! Doctor who? Doctor who? Doc-tor who?!"
This is the best piece of music ever composed. There's the first part, which is very good, then the second and third parts, also good, and the splendid ending. The worlds best flute solo is in there somewhere, best brass section, etc. This is better than Beethoven. The only problem is that I have dying headphones, so I can't listen very well. You have to hold the cord in just the right spot and the right bud is way louder than the left and they take turns cutting out and distorting the sound. Still not enough to ruin this music. I could survive on a desert island with just this music. Plus, it might attract some rich Whovian with a yacht to come rescue me. "I must go! I hear the song of my people!"
Common Logic It's a new personality. What they have in common is memories and a goal of saving lives and having adventures. The personality is completely different.
Dalek: Exterminate The Doctor: Ha! You know what considering the fact that you lot are the master race, you've failed to take something really rather crucial into account. Dalek: I do not understand, I must exterminate... Exterminate. The Doctor: Where's the Tardis hmm, come on I would leave it just laying about doing nothing would I hmm?. Dalek: Tardis is detected, Maximum Extermination. The Doctor: ha ha ha, I'm taking down you're defences Daleks, one by one, say hello to Gallifrey's guns boys!!!. Daleks: Time Lord battle fleet detected... Shields malfunctioning. The Doctor: Bye bye boys!!!.
Out of every hero, the Doctor was the greatest, because he never killed the Daleks. Harry killed Voldemort and Luke blew up the Death Star. The Doctor? He let the Daleks live because WHY THE DUCK NOT.
+KingOfTheDeck As a matter of fact, Harry didn't kill Voldemort, he never used the killing curse (Avada Kedavra) on him, he used the disarming spell. It was Voldemort's curse that backfired on him and killed him. so Technically Voldemort killed himself. I am a Whovian by the way, that comment doesn't mean I don't see The Doctor as a great hero.
Every time I listen to this theme, I think about the Doctor talking to the Atraxi in the Eleventh Hour, and the Doctor saying "Basically, Run." So epic.
This music is seriously some of the best I have ever heard. It just feels epic to listen to, and it definitely fits as the Doctors theme, such a badass, smart character who is one of the greatest heroes ever to have graced the lands of fiction.
Okay. One more. Just one. Is this world protected? Because you're not the first lot to come here. Oh, there have been so many! And what you've got to ask is, what happened to them? ... Hello. I'M THE DOCTOR. BASICALLY, RUN.
This music and the TARDIS, then a huge explosions and 11 and the Ponds trying to steer an exploding TARDIS...That is how I imagine Matt Smith's first scene if he ever returns to the show for a Multi-Doctor story.
The 7-beat time signature at the beginning is pure musical gold. I know of few other scores with this number of beats per measure and it sounds so GOOD
I know this didn't appear in this episode, but might as well quote one of my favorite lines from the Matt Smith era: River: This is the battle of Demon's Run. The Doctor's darkest hour. This is the day he'll rise higher than ever before, then fall so much further, and I can't be with him till the very end. Rory: Why not? River: Because this is it. This is the day he finds out who I am. River Song & Rory Williams: Series 2: When A Good Man Goes To War.
Arguably Matt Smiths best episode. Along with Heavens sent I'd say them 2 are the best Dr Who has blessed us with! Rings of Akhaten is a very close contender!
“When they made this particular hero, they didn’t give him a gun, they gave him a screwdriver to fix things. Same here. But I think Capaldi should kill Clara to spice things up. That would make him interesting.

Viktor Braginski [CaptainDayren] doctor who in the later generations seems to become more of a badass, while the earlier doctors are more scientific and smart to tell everyone their plan. but i guess in the gap of time called the time war, the doctor got a telepathically activated casette player that plays this song.

What's with Pete Capaldi? Do you don't like him? :)

So who was the funniest? I say Tenant just because of "I DON'T KNOW!"
Jack Egan what do you mean with "I DON'T KNOW"?
goosebumps everytime. I really like David, but the writing with Matt, the episodes, and how he nailed what the idea of the doctor is made his series my favorite. I can basically sum up his entire series with one word...
...goosebumps.
+Michaelm Hagood I thought you were going to say: GERNONIMO!
ALONSY
That's EXACTLY what I say to everyone hating on Matt. The story's just too good with the 11th doctor to stop watching, just because your favourite doctor's gone.
I think the 5th season is one of the best in Doctor Who, but season 6 and 7 were meh.

DOCTOR, YOU'RE LATE FOR MY WEDDING!

This song cured my headache. I didn't think I could like Doctor Who anymore than possible, but I do now. Thank you Murray Gold for existing :)
I kind of want Doctor Who to end so that I have all the knowledge of the show by the time I die, but I also want it to exist forever so that everyone can experience the awesomeness. Someday it has to end, though. This is making me sad...
Mrspidey457 I don't want it to go...
Mrspidey457 You need a Time Machine, so if it exists forever, you can watch all of it
vini castro I should get on that now.
Mrspidey457 I don't think, it will ever end. It may pause, like it did from 1989 to 2005. But when this happenes someone sometime will find the old episodes and will continue with the next doctor.
JubJubBirdProduction I'm just waiting for Capaldi to die, he is so boring
YES!
They continue to use it-it’s too good a theme not to, arguably up there with the main theme.

Just rewatched series 5, reliving the good old days.
11 is without a doubt my favourite doctor.
i'm still with tennant but i haven't watched matt smith completely
I became a Doctor Who fan back in the 80's as a young kid of 7 years old, thinking he was greater than Superman, Spiderman, Batman or any other hero. I was heart broken when he was taken off the air in the 90's. I never really could put my finger on why I loved this Mad Man in a Police Box so much until now, and it is the same reason his character has been resurected and is even more popular today; the world is really sick, and needs a Doctor now!
Sad but oh so true. But in some small but important way you too have been someone's hero. Thank you
The Doctor's good for quick removals of alien forces or saving people from simple threats; (at least up through Season 3,) going in and fixing problems native to a society, not so much.

Knock it off with the 10th Doctor comments. He's great and all but this song is for the Eleventh. Let us enjoy it.
Common Logic It's a new personality. What they have in common is memories and a goal of saving lives and having adventures. The personality is completely different.
But the problem with your comment is that 10 and 11 are the same time lord from Gallifrey. 10 lost Amy and 11 lost Rose. Same person. Different face

Out of every hero, the Doctor was the greatest, because he never killed the Daleks. Harry killed Voldemort and Luke blew up the Death Star. The Doctor? He let the Daleks live because WHY THE DUCK NOT.
Hey your right the doctor doesn't
+KingOfTheDeck Seriously? The Doctor was ready to wipe out all Daleks with The Moment. The Doctor is not a hero, he isn't meant to be a hero.
+KingOfTheDeck what about the war doctor, he killed I think
+KingOfTheDeck the doctor is the best
+KingOfTheDeck As a matter of fact, Harry didn't kill Voldemort, he never used the killing curse (Avada Kedavra) on him, he used the disarming spell. It was Voldemort's curse that backfired on him and killed him. so Technically Voldemort killed himself. I am a Whovian by the way, that comment doesn't mean I don't see The Doctor as a great hero.
Every time I listen to this theme, I think about the Doctor talking to the Atraxi in the Eleventh Hour, and the Doctor saying "Basically,
Run." So epic.
When this music plays, the bad guys better run.
You know some crazy shit is about to happen when you hear this on Doctor Who
This music is seriously some of the best I have ever heard. It just feels epic to listen to, and it definitely fits as the Doctors theme, such a badass, smart character who is one of the greatest heroes ever to have graced the lands of fiction.
Whenever I listen to this, a slideshow of 11, Amy, and Rory and their adventures play in my mind.

I know of few other scores with this number of beats per measure and it sounds so GOOD
Of course it's musical Gold. Since it's Murray Gold :D
This is the music of hope!

Doctor Who, the only show I ever watched, and I loved every second of it
I know this didn't appear in this episode, but might as well quote one of my favorite lines from the Matt Smith era:
River: This is the battle of Demon's Run.
Every time I hear this I wanna cry. I fricking love doctor who!
