    Great video. You can easily test out speaker by putting on the headphone and touch up the wires with multimeter. Its a good idea to install heatshrink tubing right before covering up the socket for strain relief

    Tank you for the video, it was very informative and concise, but in most headsets you have to burn the tip of the wires and clean it to get rid of the isolation.

      Golan Levi If you burn the wires the metal will oxidize and tinning them or solderring them will be much more harder. Just make a solder blob on your iron and hold the wires in it for a bit. The insulation will melt and float on top of the solder. Works well enough for me.

    Thank you, I was having a headache figuring out how to repair some xiaomi headphone with 6 wires; turns out the common for left and right channels were separated and had different colors for some odd reason, but by sticking those together and measuring the resistance Ω between wires I could figure it out.

      The plastic surrounding of the metal of the jack always melt. On the other times ,all got blocked by soldering wire that you need to melt again. Expect bad luck sometimes

    Hello Tanner Tech. Congratulations on your video and on your channel. I enjoy your work. Could you give me a hand? I am trying to fix my headphones, but I don't know to do the wireing. My wires don't look like the ones in the video. I would sent you a photo if you give me an adress. Thank you and best regards.

    I have a question why do you have to burn the wires to fix them like what does it do?

    where did you get the audio jack replacement? will it work if i buy earbuds and then take the jack off of them as long as the jack is 3 ring?

    • @JeysonArdila
      @JeysonArdila 5 лет назад

      yes it will, but that would be a waste, you could just buy the jack instead. It should be a 3.5 mm jack.

      Jose A, I ordered from Adafruit www.adafruit.com/product/1799, they have a variety of 3 and 4 pole audio jacks.

    How about just taking headphones with bad speakers and cutting the wires about 12 inches from the good 3.5 jack. Then cutting the wires of a bad 3.5 jack from a set of good speakers and then splicing the wires. This way you do not have to mess with soldering on a new 3.5 jack?

    i usually first solder on the replacement jack, than realize that i forgot to put the sleeve on and then resolder it third time to swap the channels

      +JellyfishJelly Haha! I know how you feel. I do that all the time when I put heat shrink tuning on wires when going then you to other things.
