Awesome video and those are incredible machines to dig out potatoes like that, they seem to do it almost effortlessly. Thanks for another harvest video Mike !
Great video! The potato harvest near Burley, Idaho is truly impressive. The way the machines work to dig the potatoes so efficiently and gently is admirable. Especially keeping the potatoes intact and undamaged during the harvest is important to ensure the quality of the crop. Thanks for sharing this experience, I love seeing how the potato fields are harvested so systematically and efficiently.👍👍👍
Reminds me of my childhood as a 9-year-old. 1 row potato harvester, 0,3 mile/hour, 8 acres, 3 weeks work. My parents and some aunts and uncles were standing on the harvester to pick out stones, clods and rotten potatoes. From time to time, a lot of cut potatoes had to be sorted out. My father then recognized, that I left the row because I was sleeping. He threw some clods to wake me up. Not my best reminds.
This was such an informative and well-done video! Loved seeing the windrower and harvester in action - it’s fascinating how the whole operation works from field to storage. Can’t wait for more videos like this!
closest i ever got to tater harvester , working on 1855 olivers , chapman farms , off route 5 i think littlefalls to herkimer region but that was WAAAAAAAAAAY BACK , when 1855 was a common mainline tractor , 1985 maybe . harvesters were nearly tractor mounted
Sure are lot'sa small taters being sorted out and back on the ground . Do they pick them too ? Or left to rot in the field ? It is fascinating equipment , especially the wide set front end on the tractor . Thanks for your videos .
I’ve seen other potato harvest videos and it’s pretty common for rocks and dirt clumps that are the same size as potato’s to get harvested. They sort them out back at the farm before the potato’s go into a cellar, usually.
Your content always makes my day. This video was no exception! 😄

Hello Mike I was wondering if one day you would like to come to Mountain Home Idaho for a farm equipment tour
I like Mike less video on RUclips from the imperial county ca 🇺🇲. I work in a potato shed in Bakersfield CA for 25 year

Hi Mike, there's a lot of clumps of soil going into the trucks - i imagined they'd be cleaner by that point?

4:40 What’s the biggest advantage of using this model?
Dug spuds once with a Fendt tractor. Never again. Seat doesn't turn far enough at all. Torture.
Alot of clods
Not a very clean sample heck of a lot of soil
It was a bit damp.
that's a lot of taters.
