      This was the most boring and senseless stage of the Tour de Farce for ages. My bpm during watching it: < 50, after the stage >180 realising the wasted time. Who cares about the also complete useless last stage? One of the surviving sprinters will win it, nothing else will happen. I will only watch the summary on GCN. This last stage is one of the reasons why I prefer to watch the other three week races especially the Giro. Tension up to the last second.

      As others have said, it's kind of a tradition not to attack the yellow jersey. However, it would also be a very difficult, if not impossible, task. It's a flatter stage (not to me but rather the experts) which would make it difficult to attack. I think the overall standings would have to be way more contested than they currently are in order for them to actually race on this stage. I'm not a veteran of this sport either though, so I could be wrong.

    • @MrTux0

      Joseph Berti there some kind of unwritten rule that you don’t attack the leader on the last stage. It’s part of the tour “etiquette”. Anyway, Paris’ stage is flat so it’s almost guaranteed to be a sprint finish from the bunch.

    • @JesterJill
      @JesterJill 5 лет назад +1

      Joseph Berti It is an unwritten rule that no one will attack the Yellow Jersey on the final stage (unless it’s and TT). It is a flat stae for the sprinters final honours. Also since it is flat if any GC tries to attack they will get caught up by the peleton pretty easily.

      It is an unwritten rule in the TDF that the fight for the GC ranking stops on the penultimate stage which is also the last tough stage of the race where drafting will not help much (in the mountains). There were also enough opportunities to separate the weak from the strong. The last day is flat and a breakaway will not be allowed to survive if there is a GC rider involved. The race for the sprinters continue though with the last stage being the most sort after stage for them ... That said, the GC riders still need to finish safely in one piece in Paris to claim there positions.

    Why is tomorrow just dubbed a ceremonial stage? Is it etiquette or just the fact that mountain stages are over and the climbers are the GC contenders. If you went into it with only a second time difference why not attack in the final stage. But with alaphillippe down 3 mins would you really rule him out if you can treat this final stage as a proper stage. He's more of an all rounder than the climbers and because of his unusual position in gc he may have more of a chance staying with sprinter groups and pulling out a gap. Seems a shame to not use an opportunity because the mountain stages are finished. In my eyes it's normally top 10 is climbers and then more all rounders and puncheurs and then sprinters.

    Analysis please. If Ineos had such a weak team, how did they finish 1st and 2nd? Why did all the other contenders crash out? Was Alaphilippe doping? Would G have won if he had been the only leader and Bernal his domestique? Will Froome win a 5th Tour? Should the final stages in the Alps go through terrain subject to landslides? Why do Movistar always focus on being the best team?

    • @stuartclough915
      @stuartclough915 5 лет назад +1

      Movistar don't focus on being the best team. They are the worst team and despite talent in spades are not capable of working for one leader. Instead you have 3 top riders training and racing for themselves. So they will never win yellow. Winning the team classification is just an ironic consolation.
