Excellent as always. This is by far the best video I've seen of the summit moves on Sunlight, which unfortunately I never got to do. In two trips up there years ago the combination of bad weather and a knee injury kept me from doing Sunlight. I also thought it would be fun to do nearby unranked 14er Sunlight Spire. This involves a 40' overhanging 5.10c/d thin hands crack at 14,000 feet. But this would necessitate hauling a rope and small rack up there--- a lot of work for about 50' of 5th class climbing.
My thoughts exactly, it would be cool but OMG that's another 20lbs to lug all the way up there. . . Some of those other Sunlight towers do look like epic scrambles though!
Just returned from a 3-night trip to the Basin. It was fantastic despite lots of rain in the afternoon. We did 2x2 as well and it was the right choice for us. I was the only one of our party of 3 who took the leap of faith on Sunlight and it’s something I won’t soon forget. Also skinny dipped into the lake and it was so refreshing after a hard climb
Wow, incredible video! The San Juan's are the shit. I've done quite a few 14'ers in CO but not those two. They are no joke. Looks like you hit them on the perfect weather day, what a blessing. Poor Spencer! That's some intestinal fortitude to push threw those blisters, poor guy. Beautifully filmed and edited, well done sir!
Oh big thanks, really appreciate it! Thanks for mentioning Spencer's blisters, he'll get a good laugh out of it ( those were brand new shoes not broken in)! Karl Decker 👍
This is so fantastic, Karl! You hit the weather window pretty perfectly. We’re getting lots of monsoonal activity now, with major thunderstorms starting around noon. 4th of July weekend and thereabouts was PERFECT peak-bagging weather. Did I bag any, though? No…..I just LOVE your videos!!!!
hey dude -- I'll be in Moab for most of next week hiking. I've hiked a lot in Moab before (about 8 days) and hit most of the established hikes in Arches and Canyonlands, several in the La Sal Mountains, Mill Creek, Corona Arch, Jeep Arch, Hidden Valley, Fisher Towers, Morning Glory Natural Bridge, etc. I will be redoing lots of these to get footage on them, but was curious if you could recommend some of your favorite offtrail stuff in the Moab area. I'll have a friend with me as well but you are welcome to join too!
I love these videos, but my only complaint is that the music does not fit the mountain scenery. I would prefer something much calmer and relaxing, and have it quiet enough that I can still easily hear your voice. If I may suggest a place to showcase, it would be the Selkirks. They are a mountain range in Northern Idaho/South Canada, and the lower Idaho portion is incredible. Old mountains topped with new granite tops create some of the most striking mountains you can find anywhere.
I use the music to give the viewer an idea of what I feel like when I'm there. The real expericnce. You are right, it doesn't always fit the scenery but it definitely fits the feeling of being there in the midst of an intense remote adventure inside a class 4 scrambling maze at 14,000' . . .for me anyway. . . There is lots of calm and relaxing in there too during the end when we knew we were going to get down smoothly and safely, I should have had that a bit lower volume. I will definitely check out the Selkirks, sounds cool, I always enjoy some nice solid granite to climb, thanks! I do think the "Craig Adams style can be nice and relaxing, low stress, but that is the nature of his hikes. . .
@@KarlDeckerPresents The videos are still very enjoyable and everybody seems to like them, so it is really more of a personal preference to me. Thanks and have fun :)
I'm surprised that anyone who loves Colorado's high peaks and wilderness recreation would be disparaging Kamala Harris. Consider the alternative: if the shortsighted, profit-before-all MAGA boys could get away with it I bet they'd install fracking wells and strip mines in the Weiminuche wilderness. And while we're at it, how about some luxury condos along the Needle Creek Trail, complete with helipads? To each their own, but I'm voting for the candidate who doesn't believe that climate change is a Chinese hoax.
Thanks for another great job! Learned a lot about this area these past 2 vids, wonderful stuff!
Glad you enjoyed it! We had an amazing time on this trip, that's for sure, Karl 👍👍

Well, at least you didn't have to watch me do the same to cool off, hahaha! Great comment 👏👏

I made a rookie mistake and wore brand new shoes on this hike. I won't be making that mistake again!

Amazing views! Thanks for sharing as I can enjoy through your lens! 😀👍
Thanks again Lynn, always appreciated! Karl 👍
Epic
Thanks my friend, Karl 👍

Sounds good, appreciate your comments! Karl 👍
So amazing - Now 30 years since I bagged Colorado peaks. Must return!
Here's hoping you can get back there! Karl 👍
Nice combo peak bag and as usual, great cinematography 😊
Thanks Buddy, always appreciate your comments. Very cool area, the Sunlight summit was pretty dicey... Karl 👍
Fantastic BRO !! 🙂
Thanks again Petr! Karl 👍
Another great video, thank you sir! I haven't been to those remote 14ers yet, but hoping to get there someday!
Thanks again my friend! Yes, this is a true wilderness area, and the train ride really sets it up. Karl 👍
No, just some $30 pack that they discontinued on Amazon, but, I love it. I’d buy another one if I could. Cheers Brotherman.
Is that the rim2rim pack? Tell Spencer, he’s the man dealing with those blisters.
No sir. Those shoes Spencer wore were virgin newbies, not broken in! But yes he heroically soldiered to summit glory despite the pain...
Always enjoy your videos.
Thanks again for your support! Means a lot, Karl 👍
Man this intrepid explorer makes some outstanding videos!!
Thank you Ryan, it's been great do the climbs and having extra motivation to make the videos from your support and encouragement! Cheers Brother!
Thanks for your amazing videos!
My pleasure!
Absolutely incredible video, as always.
So mesmerizing!
Thanks glad you enjoyed it!

Love it dude! Side note: Your thumbnail says "Sunshine" not "Sunlight". Easy to update, but just thought I'd point it out.
Got it thanks 👍
was that lake dip about 1 degree above freezing ?
Ha, it was very cold but refreshing!
Oh, it's pronounced Win-eh-MOOCH.
😌

The only downside to this video is the Kamala ads.
😎
Kamala 2024! 🎉
