    I love Osamu Tezuka. 🤩😁😁
His stories have depth and really make you think about our lives on this planet. There are too many titles to consider but Astro Boy makes me smile. I can almost guarantee that Mega Man was inspired by Astro Boy. Just look at the aesthetic of both and the themes. Buddha was a great read, one of my faves!
Tezuka did so much for anime and manga. Even his manga assistants went on to become absolute legends in the field. The mangaka who created what we in the west know as Power Rangers (Super Sentai), Shotaro Ishinimori, worked under Osamu Tezuka. Yoshiyuki Tomino, who created Gundam, worked under Tezuka. Rintaro, cofounder of Studio Madhouse, worked under Tezuka. I think some guys from Studio Ghibli worked under him as well. There are more but I don’t need to recall them all. Tezuka was even stated by sources in the industry to be the person who coined the term “anime”. I saw this in an old Japanese translated interview (I can’t recall which off hand).
Even the list of names he directly influenced are A list. Akira by Katsuhiro Otomo is dedicated to Osamu Tezuka. AKIRA!! 🤯
I’m sorry to nerd out over the man, but I think his contributions to anime and manga don’t get recognized as much as they could or maybe even should, in the west. I didn’t appreciate it at first, and dismissed it as “kid’s stuff” when I first saw the art style. Boy was I wrong. He reached so many genres and demographics. I’m a fan of so many amazing comic artists. However the two comic creators I am most in awe of are Osamu Tezuka and Jack Kirby. Thanks for this review! 🙏

I got this _(non-slip version)_ the other day and it's huge. As tall as an omni and a little wider. It's beautiful to hold. Can't wait to read it.

Thanks so much for highlighting these for us, Omar!
FYI: The retail editions are exactly the same hardcovers but do not have the silver gilding on the pages (or the slipcase/numbered cards). Otherwise, same thing!

Would love to get this, since I am a huge fan of osamu tezuka's work . But I can't justify spending 100 dollars for the shipping fee to my country.
