Dina you should teach your kids arabic as their second language while they’re still young. It’s easier for children to learn another language.

Ava Khan Yes, and it will be probably easier for them to understand Quran. I know that contemporary arabic languages are different, but a lot of words are probably similar. Plus they will have a ready job as translators.

Kyïv stuff yeah and it’s always good for children to know their parents languages, I’m half Armenian and half pakistani and I picked up both languages because my parents taught me from a young age.

They should be taught both Pashto and Arabic. I speak fluent Pashto, conversational Urdu and French as my two older children do except the younger one, who doesn't have a clue..!. My son learnt Arabic as an extra course at Uni and it's really useful as there is a large Yemeni community here in Birmingham. My Dad is from East Africa and was lucky to have learnt English, Urdu, Gugurati, Panjabi, Pashto and Swahili. Languages are fun to learn and extremely useful to know.

My partner speaks Arabic and I don't. We went to Morocco recently and it was the first time since we met that I'd heard him speaking it fluently. He enjoyed showing off 😂. It was a little impressive. Ha. Are you teaching your kids to speak?. He didn't, which I think is just a really good opportunity left. Quite easy to swap between the two when younger. Respect for not showing you children's face. X x

He spent some School breaks in Abu Dhabi from the Uk (boarding school) with his Parents (they lived there, all English) from age 11. Then he taught himself when he moved there around 16.
