    If you want a more lighthearted recounting of the events, they talked about it on the unsubscribe podcast with brandon herrera and Eli, it's really nice to see them joke about it together.

    Dr. Chris Rhaynor did a pretty good medical breakdown of the injuries that was occured in this incident, I'd recommend his video for a more medical view.

    The thing is, you can't import a fully-functional RPG-7 into the US. They have to be de-milled. So, to get them to function, you rebuild them yourself. In this case, the welding used to put the handle and trigger back in place created a weak point in the design. And since expanding pressure often takes the path of least resistance...well...we've seen the result.

      From how I’ve seen it explained, it’s actually fortunate that the weak point was there. If it wasn’t there, more pressure would have built up and the entire tube would have essentially “grenade-ed” and been much more catastrophic and deadly.

      @@sadstormtrooper8826 Yeah. Turned out to be a blessing in disguise, given how badly the rocket booster malfunctioned.

      @@sadstormtrooper8826 Definitely saved his life for sure, it was the equivalent of a pipe bomb stripping its threads and blowing the caps off or venting out the fuse hole vs holding strong until the entire pipe exceeds its PSI limits in less than a second and fails catastrophically.
      The 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing is what happens when the fuel and oxidizer burn faster than the containment vessel can release; in that case a standard kitchen pressure cooker filled with bolts and other metal fill for extra fragmentation. Like pipe bombs they don't actually use or need "Explosives" just a fuel that creates pressure when ignited faster than whatever it's in can vent or otherwise "Fail safely". Which means anything can effectively become a "pipe bomb", without even needing a fuel; industrial accidents have caused holding tanks to explode, chemistry that creates fumes can causethe glassware to explode if the beaker is stoppered without a vent, etc.

    And when it comes to the Carl G, It's backblast backs a punch!

      For real, you're actually supposed to be limited by the military own rules to firing only 5 rounds per day before danger of concussions/ TBI's start.
      Naturally being the military, someone on unsubscribe podcast (Eli I think, or maybe a guest) recounted them being issued 60+ rounds and told they had to use them all up before coming back; either from a misson or Patrol, I don't remember. But the important part is that was in like 1-3 days. The whole unit wasn't sent out again for awhile as they basically all had concussions for the next 2 weeks after getting their shit rocked. I think he aid some fired it so much in those 3 days they even started getting nose bleeds. And that's being BESIDE the G, not even behind or, God forbid you're friendly, in front of it.
      Now let's all say the militarys magic words together; "You're claim has been denied" and "Not Service Related".

    God theres so much disturbing foreshadowing in that first video, talking about the burns and the damage, i didnt even pick that up before but now its just difficult to see him talking about it before the worst even happens ;-;

    The Charlie G has actual rifling grooves, with riffing bands on its projectiles to cut into and impart spin so Recoilless "Rifle" is accurate. The RPG-7 however is smoothbore, with a *slight* spin imparted by the popout stabilization fins; so it's just a Recoilless Launcher.
    Interestingly its also not "Rocket powered" like some believe, its main charge is infact just simple black powder like a jumbo version of those model rocket motors you can buy at stores like Walmart; however as a "Charge" it all goes off before the projectile even leaves the tube more like a cannon This does ignite a "substainer motor" which is a weak booster rocket thats only purpose is to increase the rockets range by making it slow down, slower... but it can't propel the rocket in the air by itself so once again, not "Rocket Powered".
    Also, backblast is just terrifying; as demonstrated in some US Army training clips showing how far back and how wide the "blast" is and obliterate a stack of boxes to show how bad it can F*ck you up. Firing one feom inside a room or bunker IRL would Kill you from just the backblast bouncing back at you and around the room; unless you have a counterweight to absorb the pressure. Examples include shredded plastic, salt water, and... Graham Crackers by the IRA...
