The best part about this superhard boss, is that someone decided to help others out beating her. Apparently some guy called Letmesoloher got REALLY good at flawlessly fighting Malenia, left his summon sign in front of her boss fight. He has absolutely no armor except a pot helmet and 2 katanas. And he just flawlessly kills her for you.
Also got sent a sword from FromSoftware after killing her 1000 times
Yeah you absolutely have to watch the other 3. The whole Max0r Elden Ring series is his best work
I'm excited for part 2 of RE4
I personally love his Devil May Cry and Metal Gear ones

I have a pet theory that Maxor's speech for Malenia was at least partly inspired by Young Jagganoth's speech in Kill Six Billion Demons.
The hands are ambush predators. They'll dig and mostly hide from you until you get near them. Have fun! Maybe chat can lend you a hand getting through it

With 50 vigor that 5%hp debuff is so minor to the point where a difference between life and death due to it is next to meaningless.

The area with the hands is optional... however there is another area late game that is not optional with much, much larger hands. Also all 3 Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and I think Sekiro too has various things much worse than the hands for arachnophobia. Elden Ring is probably the most arachnophobia friendly of the Souls games, but let's wait for the DLC to see if it tops the others in the horrifying eldrich arachnid-esque abomination department.
For Malenia I think Maxor is exaggerating her difficulty a bit, and he is also showing a heavily modded fight to make it look more difficult. She, like any boss is definitely learnable and has clear patterns of behavior, like responding to your positioning and attacks in a set number of ways, I've seen people have no-hit her at lvl 1 naked with a club.
That "cat" was scooting because it's it's basically an animated statue. It's "legs" are just sculpted out of it's main body.
Its funny that people don't know that frozen deserts exist
I love the Malenia fight. I really get stuck between her and Maliketh as my favorite bosses of the game. Both bosses got me so many times the fights were starting to look like action movies that were purposely choreographed. However Malenia is NOT for casual gamers. You will sweat, you will despair, and you will get frustrated. Also Malenia is a boss that can learn to deal with the next run, it's just that there's A LOT to learn and you will never get the same attack to apply what you've learned. Waterfowl is actually NOT as bad as I heard once I got the hang of avoiding it. There's two methods to avoiding the attack and the one I went with was running the hell away from it until she jumps over you in which you have to time two rolls to near perfection locked off. There is a third but that basically requires taking off your armor for the fastest rolls.
The hand area is 100% optional, although it does guard the largest and possibly most important NPC quest in the game, as well as a wealth of good spells and weapons.
As a game developer it is much easier for me to understand and see Elden Ring boss patterns, however, I can understand how lots of people can struggle with them viewing everything as seemingly random. Trust me, every boss in this game has their patterns but are very well disguised as random.
Waterfow Dance can be dodged without damage

I'm replaying Elden Ring right now in preparation for the DLC coming out soon.
I love souls games but I'm about 200 hours in and I'm only like 2/3 of the way through. The game is so long I just want it to be over 😭
I was pretty freaked out by the hands but having a big ass sword helped because I basically only had to hit them 2 times and then I wouldn't have to see them again. I think there was only like 10 hands in that castle. 🤔
It was all worth it tho going throgh that castle because I got to unlock the best ending.
Ps. I recommend beating Elden Ring bedore Dark Souls because Elden Ring is easier.

Love the new model and didn’t expect a max0r reaction here but if you do get interested in playing Elden Ring again I’d say try different builds, go and explore and come back stronger with new stuff if you have to, and don’t let people tell you that you’re playing the game wrong like if you use stuff like magic, meta weapons (deathpoker and ritual spear my beloveds) or summons (mimic tear and tiche my beloveds)
