Absolutely love this actor, Dean Butler. I thought him and Michael Landon played perfectly off of each other. This show had the best casting on tv. My fav show of all time, still to this day!
Loyal slave 2 feline overloads Catman I remember watching Season 6 of LHOTP when it first aired. I forgot where I read it or heard it, but the show got a lot of requests for the recipe for Cinnamon Chicken. I think they made up the name of that dish for that episode so it wasn’t really a “thing.” I’m rewatching the series now and I just googled “Cinnamon Chicken.” I found 2 recipes.
Growing up in a severely alcoholic envionment, let me say..michael landon became my father in theory, and i learned family values through the show..it helped me so much, and can continue to do that for many others.
Dean describes the feelings that Little House brought to me, while I watched it. They make you want to be there with them, to sit down and talk, to give them hugs, to laugh, cry etc. It's a marvelous show that I will love forever. I always thought Dean was so handsome and sweet.
The Hunks: Almanzo Wilder in Little House, Gilbert Blythe in Anne of Green Gables, Gus Pike in Road To Avonlea, and Byron Sully in Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman.
Yes Ma'am! ❤️ The only one I don't agree with is the last one, and only because I don't know what it is. Lol. The Walnut Grove and Avonlea boys were the best!
He's really good at describing an experience and helping you feel present in his memory. He would make a good writer I think. I like his thought process of how he lives things and takes them in.
Ala-manze, according to Houston... Love the introduction of Almanzo riding in to Walnut Grove with his sister Eliza Jane, and meeting Laura.... Laura had the best sister in-law you could ask for. One of my best scene was Laura first crack at becoming a teacher, and here began Laura and Almanzo love story.
Although I watched and enjoyed every episode when I was a kid back in the 1970’s, I seem drawn to watching it all over again every decade. Watched some of little house reunions but what’s disappointing is that I never see Melissa Sue Anderson who played Mary. Hello Melissa!! We love you!!! I’ll never get tired of watching this show. Now I’m watching the Walton’s all over again lol 😂 Oh and a big shout out to Dean Butler who played Almonzo aka Manley aka ZelZomo, lol 😂 Dean Butler and Eliza Jane were my favorites on “Little House on the Prairie”
I am revisiting all the tv shows of my teen age years..I am from Italy,so all these American shows came few years laters than when they aired on american television...so thanks to RUclips and these great people who are uploading the episodes I am entertained every night, remembering,laughing,crying... Monday it's "Little house on the praire",tuesday "All in the family",wednesday "Eight it's enough",thursday "The Jeffersons",Friday "The facts of life"...then rinse and repeat! The mix is a bit crazy, but I LOVE it! In these coronavirus times, everything helps...
I can remember growing up being in love with Almanzo. I felt like Laura was my bestfriend. Granted Iwas extremely young. I have to agree Mr.Landon picked the right guy for Almanzo. Mr. Landon was a great producer. Wish I could have seen what he would have done next.
Wishing The Little House Cast and Fans a beautiful 50th anniversary to this important historical show that is such a part of our lives. There will never before or after be any tv show that can compare. I feel blessed to have met most of the cast and even have worked with Dean in musical theatre briefly. What an amazing cast and crew. And I admit I still swoon over Dean, he is dead ringer for my first husband who passed away and one of the nicest and most versatile actors I have ever met. Many might know Dean also have extensive musical theatre background. Again best to the cast! Happy 50th
Dean Butler was great playing Almonzo or Manly as Laura called him by accident the first time that they met. Dean told her later that she only may call him Manly, and he would call her Beth. I am still watching Little House on the Prairie in 2020.
I was a casual Little House On The Prairie Watcher, Until Manly came on the scene. I loved watching Laura and him fall in love. I was hooked after that. So much so, that I went back later and watched the whole show starting from the beginning!

Great interview and insight into the making of the series! A noteworthy correction: at 9:48 Dean states Melissa's age to be 13 or 14 when they first met in May of 1979. Melissa was, in fact, 16 years of age.
I read all the Little House books and Little House in the big woods series too and so forth that were written by - Laura Ingalls Wilder but what was in the book did not really happen on the shows ! Mike changed some of what the books read too ! Thanks
The real Almanzo (correctly pronounced AL MAN ZO) was only 5'4"! The real Laura Ingalls was only 4'11"! They were so short in real life the Almanzo had to make them a custom kitchen and custom chairs for their final home in Missouri. Also- supposedly the real Carrie Ingalls was 4'8-4'9". They were all malnourished with rotten teeth and diabetes on that desolate South Dakota prairie. They all had diabetes and very bad teeth including Rose Wilder Lane.
Carl Mape nobody would have watched the show if the actors looked like the real ones looked like. Mary Ingalls looked nothing like Melissa she anderson
"Take me back to ole' Virginey, Lawd!" That's a fiiiiiine looking man....mmm...mmm...mmm. I remember having a crush on "Albert' and then "Manly" came along...even his voice was sexy.
wow that's something I loved watching this show, especially cracked up at Mrs. Harriet Olsen and Nellie. the rest was life lessons as I learned a lot about emotions. hard to believe I was the same age as Dean Butler was turning 19 in 1979 November ..
It was a great choice for Almanzo Wilder. I can well understand the trepidation that Melissa Gilbert, who is on 815 when she started this Prairie romance on the screen with the eight year difference in age between the performer.s. There are other interviews with both Melissa Gilbert Anccean Butler, when they talk about her reaction as a teenager, even though she was a well-known young actress, literally making out with the character of Almanzo, played by an actor quite a bit older than herself. The show made it all tolerable, and as Dean Butler said the character of Laura was always in control. It was a marvelous show nine seasons. It was on to this day. It is still very popular, and still running on television. It was a tribute to Michael Landon oh my head already watched on bonanza. He was a very talented actor and director, and obviously producer.
Tu as beaucoup de chance d'avoir pu rencontrer les acteurs de la série 😔😱😍 qu'est-ce que j'aurais aimé voir Almonzo 😭 Top ses interviews 👍 Merci En français ce serai parfait
15 actually. He said they started filming season 6 on May 21st 1979. Gilbert had just turned 15 a few weeks before and Butler had just turned 23 the day before.. Quite creepy that they had to do a kissing scene when you think about it. She was underage
Michel Landon sends us the following message on "Little House" Don't blame God for your misfortunes, they are a matter of circumstance. Try to believe in him and pray to him, regardless. He preaches unconditional love, goodness, and giving everyone a chance. Well, it may be what he always wished for during his very unhappy childhood. He was a great actor. His stories are of the many tragedies we face in life. Death, losing a child, illness, suicide, and unshakeable family values. We watch and wish we could be a part of his family. And yet, in real life, he was not the perfect man he portrayed. That's because no one is perfect. It's enough that he was a good man, who has already brought joy not only to us, but will continue to do so to generations to come.
Little House NEVER, ever gets old. You can watch reruns twice a day everyday for your whole life and it will never get old.
I agree with you on that 👍
Absolutely agree!
The best wholesome series of all time !
I watch am/pm everyday ! Running 24x7 on Pluto and Roku, finding episodes I missed.
Absolutely love this actor, Dean Butler. I thought him and Michael Landon played perfectly off of each other. This show had the best casting on tv. My fav show of all time, still to this day!
Yes
To this date I've never seen any restaurant make cinnamon chicken! (That was Almonzo's favorite dish)
Loyal slave 2 feline overloads Catman I remember watching Season 6 of LHOTP when it first aired.
