As an old person, skate in both your natural and your switch stance from the very beginning. Also get comfortable skating with just your front foot, whether regular or switch..... This will help you push, over sketchy ground, make it way easier to bail from your board. ..... But skate in both stances..... This will save you so much time later.
I can’t. I’m right handed and right footed I guess too. I can’t balance switch or fake at all I can Ollie and shuv it but I can’t fucking roll up and down a ramp without falling off
@@Xippone2093 thinking that you "can't do it" makes things much harder than they need to. With proper progression you can do anything at your own pace. Something that sounds stupid but really works to come down to fakie, is to turn your head 180° when you are at the top. Also you can try pushing mongo to get on the board going backwards and gain a little speed.
I don’t know if you’ll read this but THIS IS JUST WHAT I NEEDED!!! I went to the skate park for the first time today and I thought skating a ramp would be easy, i feel 3 times in a row and i started raining. It’s very different to flat which is what I’ve been doing for the whole time I’ve skated, THANK YOU!!! You’re actually the RUclips that motivated me to skate!!!
Watching skating ramp tutorials did more justice than I ever imagined-More so than trick videos. Thanks to he and others I've began braving Ramps with success. I wanna particularly point out how much I recall from tutorials that I'm able to apply that truly help. Whoop!
Can I just say how much I appreciate you. I love watching your videos and find them really helpfull and when I'm not feeling motivated to skate I watch one of you vids and I have the need to

2 years ive been skating flat and just 2 days ago was the first time i rolled down a 3m ramp, wich was the smallest where i live and just yesterday i learned it consistently, then i find this video 2021-08-01
Finally going back to skating and I'm trying to get to the real basics, since when I started, I went from learning to how to even stand on one to trying to do an ollie. I never really tried to do anything else because I was too excited about my first board. Really big help and I'm pumped to get back to the skate park.
You’re so endearing. I love your sense of humor, actually falling on video forward and backward for the example. I’m about to go on my first ramp - thank you for the mini prep! Looking forward to busting my ass again and again til I get it down 🙌🏼
Thank you for this video, it’s really hard for me to build up courage to do this, since I hurt my wrist skating up a ramp wrong and it’s hard to try it again.
Okay, pumping is a weird thing to explain. You think of your crouching and uncrouching as a jump instead of as independent movements. At the bottom of the ramp, you want to "jump" to the top of the ramp. This is so you lose less speed going up the ramp, and thus gain more going back down. When you're at the top of the ramp (the peak of your height) you "jump" down the ramp to accelerate rapidly. As you "land", you push off the ramp in order to build even more speed. This is the force VLSkate mentions. It's also a weird thing because sometimes it's beneficial to pump earlier or later depending on your trick. A later pump might make you flyout the ramp higher, which is one of my favorite tricks. An earlier pump might have you land squarely on the coping, good for stalls. Just play with it a bit once you get the basic concept.
I don't mean to say the video is bad, it's just that explaining pumping to someone who is just learning to roll up ramps is difficult, especially because unlike a kickflip where you see what's happening wrong when the board flips a certain way, bad pumping still looks like skating. Good work as always
Hey! I'm a new skateboarder, and I just got some protective gear today and found your channel! It's really helping out, definitely gonna try some new tricks today!
To all beginners if you go to the skate park ask someone who has a bigger board then you if you can try their board. This is my second day of skating I tried a bigger board and it worked much better
Does anyone have any ideas on where to find ramps or surfaces shaped like that outside of skateparks? There's only a few skateparks in my area, most don't have ramps that size and they are extremely crowded. I normally skate in parking decks, which replicates one side of the ramp, but not the other. comment if you have any suggestions
2:20 which genius thought it was a good idea to put a basketball field right next to some ramps for skateboarding?¿ Anyways great tutorial, thanks. Keep it up!
Sounds obvious, it worked for me though. Worry about yourself and don’t overthink everything you do, once you realize no one really judges you, you’ll have more confidence to focus on yourself and try not to compare yourself to others, everyone progresses at a different pace
Watched this video because I immediately flew forwards and ate shit the first time I tried to push towards a quarter pipe lol. Got scraped up pretty good but I just want to get back out there and try again.

Hey man love your vid's, got me really into skating a couple years ago and now I can skate vert. Keep up the good work!
Good tip I got: look where you're going. So, when you're coming back down, you're looking away from the ramp.
This was what changed my game.
I really wish my skatepark had a mini ramp

I just went to a skate park for a first time, things really changed my perspective since i was used to street skating 🔥 🙏
This video would’ve been nice to watch a couple weeks ago when I ate shit and sprained my wrist and elbow😭
OUCH
Thanks I have been skating for a little bit and wanted to give this is a try … super helpful!
That’s looks like the perfect size ramp to start with. Can you give dimensions if we want to build our own?
Height, width, flat, transition radius?

@3:49 this is me on even tiny ramps. I can skate slopes ok but I either can't translate it across to a ramp or my brain is getting in the way!
The whole thing on a “don’t find a too big of a ramp” can I use a bowl that’s not that tall because in my city it’s vert ramps

He fell so many times for this video 😭🤚🏼
@VLSkate I want to start skating so are there any boards, trucks, grips, wheels, or anything in general that you recommend or use?
Just what I needed
is dropping in necessary for learning to skate or street skate?
bro i dropped in today, consistent too !!!
ayyyyyyyy hes back
When doing an ollie or any kind of trick, is it bad to look down at your board when rolling towards an obstacle? If you get what I mean
what is the best is it kik sooter or skatebord
I can roll fakie OKish but cant pump, i practised 2 sessions of a couple hours. Is it just me or is pumping a bit hard to learn?
How do I Practice? Cuz my skate kinda sucks I mean there's rams high median in small but the ground is basically like a rocky road
Tysm for this video!!
Great video this is helpful!
Cool video; also, can you please make a 5 easy rail tricks?
Transitions riding looks fun, I just wish my town had an outdoor park I could visit whenever

Knee bending is important as long if your knees are bend you cannot be thrown off, just fall to your knees with your arms up, or runouts
