The Kessils do add a pop of color to your tank. Those A500’s are a beast of a light. I had two of the kessil a360s on a 40g breeder tank before and they provide a very nice shimmer. For adding extra par, these are a great application.
Love the videos and educational value. I’m starting my first small tank and choosing the light has been the hardest choice. It’s either a 360x or xr15 for the 20 peninsula. Figure buy a light that I can grow with instead of a lesser light and upgrade later.
Beautiful reef Parker. Just a note, with no reflector, the Kessil is meant to be mounted around 6 to 8 inches from the top of the water. As high as your kessils are mounted, they provide highly reduced PAR and shimmer. I would leave the 55 reflectors on at that height. Again, nice video and beautiful!
yeah I could add the 55 reflectors back, but I personally like the look of the tank more without them - and the only reason I added them was for aesthetics - so that works for me :D
@@ParkersReef Yea good deal, if you like them and they work that's all that matters. I have one A500X over a cube and an ATI Straton and every other LED lol....Once you see a Kessil, it's hard to look at anything else. The 500 is a beast.
@@ParkersReef thanks. I love your content and watch many of your videos. No harm was meant, I was suggesting you use both inches and cm for your US audience and outside the US audience. I noticed in this video you referenced the distance between the kessils and water in inches but the spread in cm. Lol. I need everything in inches
Being you know the fish shops well . Is there a melbourne store that runs kessils, radions ,illumagic x4 and ai’ hydras on tanks to compare I know it’s a big ask . Just struggling on light so many options and I just want an upgrade I won’t regret .
Yeah deer park used to!! But they’ve switched to just ai blades now. Was handy to be able to show the differences between the lights, not sure who would these days?
Doing something similar with my future build. I have 2 of the Neptune Sky's and gonna mix in 3 Kessils. I do not think I will need 5 of them though lol.
Gorgeous tank sir. I have a small nano with a single A360X, I love the form and function of the mount and light. As a novice with the LED, I am still trying to figure out the best settings for coral growth? Out of interest what percentage of blue do you set of your Kessils please?
Who is the manufacturer of your synced canopy lifts? Is it a desktop lift package? Details on the design and implementation would be appreciated, I'm looking at doing the same.
Love your setup! I'll be doing a similar build (7ftx4ft and 2.5ft tall peninsula which is about). I've been planning to use stratons with kessils so basically the same type of look. I was going to go with an array of a360Xs specifically for visual appeal (pop & shimmer). Would you recommend more a360xs (6-8 of them) or 3-4 a500xs for this use case?
@@ParkersReef Following up on this (because I am considering adding Kessils as well) which will result in more shimmer: 2 -a500xs or 4 a360xs? In both cases, I'd mount them 15-20" above the tank inside a canopy like yours.
Hey world champ 💪would you say the blue now gives full on nuclear fallout fluorescence? It used to be a funny light blue that didn't make corals glow much on the previous gen Kessils.
Hey Reef Dork, thanks for dropping by! To be honest, I've seem more radioactive blues - but they're not for me. This provides more than enough blue for me, but really gives that shimmer that I was missing :)
There light schedules are nothing crazy to program, only colour and intensity, I just made something I liked the look of :) 1 hour ramp up, 8 hours full strength, 1 hour ramp down
Why did you skip the par Numbers after you raised the 500x as high as you could? 600 and 400 are a lot, would be nice to know how it changes once you raise them up. Since that is the whole point of those reflectors
with the 35 reflector installed, they didn't change all that much - so it is a great option if you need to mount lights super high. Otherwise, there are cheaper alternatives out there
Can I be the one poo poo'er. These Kessils for their $1400 price tag have either pathetic light penetration or spread depending on lens. Towards the top of the tank with the narrow lens on, you're covering 6 inches of water and at the bottom with no lens 100 PAR. If you were to light this tank with just Kessils, how many would you need to keep SPS?

For a 15 peninsula, id lean towards the short ai blade myself!
But I’m looking to keep as I upgrade which I know I will but want to get my feet wet
I'd still lean towards the AI blade :)
The dream in shimmering colors.
indeed!
I have to admit, seeing a comment on this video already made me panic thinking I had the release date wrong :P
@@ParkersReef haha 😂
Looks better under the kessils 😍
They do add a nice pop!
Good review showing how the reflector really performs, think im gonna buy 2 and replace my other ones
Thanks for the feedback, glad it helped!
wow😱 im speechless, tanks is great i like the acropora section. thanks for sharing the review on kessil A500x
Thanks mate!
The most high end dream tank light set up out there on youtube.
Ah thanks mate!
What a set up, and tank looks great

The tank looks great man. Well done

plenty of info on other videos, but it is 210x90x75cm :)

To be honest, with kessil logic - you are safe. Just pick what you like the look of visually :)
Can't wait
not long now mate!

Have you done a PAR test of the whole tank?
Sure have, figures are in the video

100 intensity, 50/50 colour
That’s a lot of light. Nice color

Not the best value for money in the majority of installs - but for a niche requirement, they’ll work :)
Pure robbery. These cables work the same. Nothing justifies spending 10x more.
