The (sensational) bass player on 'No Regrets' was Daryl Runswick, born 12 October 1946, a classically trained English composer, arranger, jazz musician, producer and educationalist.
I’m a huge fan of Scott’s late period, and the entirety of his songwriting career. I still have a guilty affection for his disavowed early to mid 70s cover era, and his country interpretations. This is both cringeworthy and charming. Thanks for uploading it.
Luis Aguilé, the host of his own show "La vida pasa felizmente...", from Argentina and based in Spain, was a very succesful singer-songwriter during the sixties and seventies, always in Spanish.
This was the first time I saw a conversation between this host and the three members of The Walker Brothers. The expressions on the faces of the three members are very funny. Thanks.
Also the guy couldn’t speak a word of Inglesa 😂 I always loved Scott, but John and Garry came into their own. Especially John 👍 he had a lovely voice and outgoing personality. Scott seemed withdrawn? My feeling
The Handsome Brothers With World Class Barnets give the interviewer some stick before they mime and lip-synch with much grinning, no doubt stemming from their amused disdain for the show biz television promotional nonsense they had to get up to. This "country" styled material toward the end of their career is still a great deal more dynamic & vocally satisfying than the prefab contrivances streaming out of Nashville today. The Brothers' last 1978 album sank without a trace upon release, only to stand as a major landmark almost 50 years later.
I've been trying to find more of Gary's contribution to the band. I know he didn't sing or write anything for them until their last album, and he is only credited as "percussion" on some songs on some albums. Whenever I see him mime to the drums (played by someone else on the studio recording) it always seems awkward, like I am not sure he can really play. Is there any live footage of him actually playing??
Scott & John really were having a good time together here , they seemed to be real friends during this period, and both still looked very young & charming. Gary, well, Gary, ....Nice bloke but, okay.. , let's leave it that. This song is quite underestimated. Scott's low bits are impressive and his vocals througout the whole song are very well phrased, as, actually, only he could pull off. The arrangement is quite stunning and beautifully orchestrated. The bass arrangement is sensational. The bass player, is It Scott? I don't know, is almost playing as freely as in a jamsession, with great virtuosity, but it all fits in flawlessly. John's vocal seems effortless, Scott and John were a beautiful duo indeed. Only the Everlys and John & Paul could sing such well crafted duets. The solo at the end, which seems to be John, although very 'seventies', is impressive in its virtuosty as well, and a fine performance. The poor concept behind the video is amateur hour stuff, and the Spanish guy, on one hand great fun but pfff, what a mediocre type.....But it all doesn't matter much. It's Scott & John!.., great guys they were indeed Thanks a lot for putting it on, really enjoyed it.
