A Friday release? Nice!! I never get to go this way since I'm in Minnedosa and usually take the Yellowhead to #1 then onward. 1:25 the speed limit actually didn't increase to 110 km/h until around 2015-2016. But then, as you've seen, that drops in more populated areas like Virden, Carberry (due to the active train tracks and busy but lightless intersection), Portage, Elie and finally Headingley/Winnipeg. Prior to the extended increase, the 110 speed limit only existed west of Virden once the twinning was finally completed between there and Indian Head and Tompkins to the Alberta border. 3:15 Provincial Road 351, which you meet twice, is the old Trans-Canada route through Carberry, on a very narrow road. Yikes!! 6:47 The "Halfway Tree", marking the halfway point between Winnipeg and Brandon. "Major" landmark for Manitoba; and it even has a Facebook group!! :) 7:48 THANK you!! an interchange would work better, except for the active tracks JUST north of the intersection and the service station off 1E. 12:47 Not bad!! There was a sign on 17 and I don't know if it's still there, but it advertises #71 as "the scenic way to Thunder Bay". It's scenic, but it's longer. But good for you for tackling it!!
Interesting to learn! I was curious if that tree represented anything. With the 1/16 junction, I would expect that a junction as major as the two main TCH routes would be an interchange at least. And with Highway 71, there was the added benefit of the much lower traffic volumes, compared to the more direct 17.

@@xlbolt That all makes sense!! They were talking about an interchange at 1 and 16, but are now considering a traffic circle instead. >:(
Enjoyed the video, the music kept me. You have good taste in music. Great selections.
I believe the TCH (At least Highway 1) should have interchanges at all major junctions. The big accident last year emphasizes that point.
You should have put in the Route 85 sign at the end of the video once the film passed the PTH 1/100/101 interchange
