- Vancouver to Toronto: Video #29. In this video we take Portage Avenue and drive into the 8th largest metro in Canada, Winnipeg, Manitoba's largest city. We follow Portage Ave (Trans-Canada Highway, Yellowhead Highway, Winnipeg Route 85) into historic Downtown Winnipeg and The Forks. We pass by the "Crossroads of Canada," marked by the intersection of Portage and Main St. in the centre of downtown.
We also visit the Exchange, a preserved area of late 19th and early 20th century architecture. Winnipeg grew rapidly in the 1880s-1920s after the Canadian Pacific Railway was introduced.
Next video: We leave Winnipeg on Highway 1.

Thank you very much for this
Winnipeg looks a lot nicer than it used to...
Doesn't surprise me that Winnipeg has its own city highway network. No doubt, it was set up to replicate the Ontario county/region/metro road system.
I have a feeling that Winnipeg is going to turn out one day to be Vancouver (BC)... no metro-freeway, just clogged highways full of lights and cars.
@@centinelroads I can agree, but I suppose a freeway surrounding Winnipeg would be great, but I don't like the idea of a metro-freeway. Nonetheless, it is already too late to build one.
Just catching up on your videos. You made it to my place ☺️✌️
Really hope to make some further trips out to Winnipeg, since we only had time to drive straight through town, but the downtown/exchange areas of the city I really wanted to spend more time in; as well as the Perimiter Highway too.
Was just recently catching up on your Calgary content too, after making another visit to there. Hope to see some more stuff from you soon!
Good video. A suggestion would be to slow it down a bit. Then could recognize the area better.
thanks for showing our beautiful city also home to the worst roads in Canada!! lol
If it’s any consolation I wasn’t disappointed by the quality of Winnipeg’s roads, especially after having to drive through Sudbury
I’m looking to migrate from nigeria 🇳🇬 that’s why I’m watchin this video...
