    Over the years of being a runner, I've learned to appreciate more and more just how comfortable and versatile running shorts are. That's all I wear to hike in. Running shorts are very lightweight, and very cool . Here in South Texas, it's warm most of the year, so that works out really well for me.
    Asics and Nike are about the only two brands I really buy, and they're usually in the $30 range. Which is really nice, not too expensive.
    Me personally I keep the liners, because wearing the shorts by themselves, is just cooler then wearing underwear and then it shorts over that.

    You’re right…these are great shorts. I hate baggy, long shorts when I’m trying to drill down trail miles. I bought mine end of season at 50% off. (Except for emergency needs, youngsters, never, ever, NEVER pay full retail price for outdoors-technical clothing!). Anyway, I’m 66, 6’2”, 185, wear Large. I kept the liner in, for my summer time backpacking. To negate “stink” while section hiking the AT (and I sweat like crazy in hot, humid east coast climate), I carry two pair….wash, rinse, hang on my backpack to dry…..and alternate them day to day. Patagonia got it right with these runners, but you’re correct that $69 is too damned much to pay. Good video, amigo!

    Wouldn't it be more comfortable if you didn't wear boxers underneath? They are originally designed to be worn without anything underneath
    Good review BTW

    🎯 the brief liner makes a nice on-the-run nose-wipe/sweat cloth once removed

    Yeah, probably 75% of thru-hikers or so wear running shorts when hiking. I don’t really remember seeing many pairs of “hiking shorts” on the PCT this year as the only other alternative tends to be hiking pants for when mosquitos are bad.

      Kevin Harris I'm at the point where I can't hike in anything else.

    Very good review. I'm thinking of buying a pair for hiking as well. Someone said they cling really bad when wet. Have you experienced that at all? Thanks

      N. James Herr I haven’t. I will say I haven’t hiked in the rain with them, but I did swim with them on the Vermont trail and I didn’t notice clinging to be a problem.

    how was the liner brief? or boxer type? what about for swimming you thing those would be good , easy to dry?

    • @whateveritmaybe6743
      @whateveritmaybe6743  5 лет назад +1

      It was brief style. :/ Not my kind of thing unless I'm swimming. These would be great for swimming! They do dry very quickly. The only thing I would say that may dry a little slower is the waste band due to the elastic and pockets surrounding the waist band, but otherwise, they definitely dry very fast.

    Is the color smolder blue? Is there a change in the color of the fabric when you get sweaty? It's like you peed

    Would you say you could put a hand into any of the pockets?

    • @whateveritmaybe6743
      @whateveritmaybe6743  4 года назад +2

      Samuel Whitley Yes! For reference, all of the pockets can easily fit my iPhone 8 (not a plus). They can also hold my Sony RX100. Hope that helps!

    Hi, i want to buy these shorts. What's your size? I'm 28 inch waist, 58 kg (127 lbs) and i'm 177 cm (5.8 feet). My legs are very thin, so a lot of shorts seems to be a lot more baggy. Patagonia site tell me that my ideal size is between XS and S (54%/46%), so i'm a little confused. I don't want to wear baggy shorts but i'm aware that XS will be to tight on waist. Any suggestions? Thank you a lot!

      Hello! I’m 5’8” and 175 lbs and the medium is perfect for me. I’ve tried Patagonia Baggies and they were too baggy for me. I returned them. These shorts are not overly baggy. You could always try buying one size and then exchange them for the other size if they don’t fit. I hope that helps!
