    Here is my initial test and comparison on the new RushFPV Solo Tank 1.6W video transmitter module, and let me tell you... it is looking pretty sweet so far, especially if all the claims of "no frequency drift, and channel bleeding" and "channel power calibration" are accurate! At least my test seems to confirm it is not outputting at less than 1.6W, which is reassuring, but overall the Vtx seems to be made really well, it really is a tank and would surely take a good deal of beating without breaking a sweat, and I do appreciate the clean looks, lack of visible SMD components, and the huge cooling surface area resulting from it! Definitely something I can recommend, and more tests and more direct head-to-head comparisons will follow, so stay tuned!

    I love the aluminium casing, easy to mount, and looks like airflow over it will be much smoother when it's fitted into an external bay - a bit of packing underneath if needed and have it fitted flush with the wing. Also like that it looks like it is very easy to fit a fan to it, just in case you have to mount it inside a fuselage. Great to see you doing some comparisons, will be interesting to see how it compares when you get out to similar ranges. I use the 2w Dominator at the moment on a couple of my builds - they are great vtx's, but just look a little messy when mounted in the wing.
    I do have one question - I am guessing that the 'Data' connection is for smart audio control? That is one feature I would not like to be without because I like to be able to switch power levels whilst in flight. Even though I use Ardupilot which does not support it by default, at the moment I get around it by having a second flight controller onboard the plane - just a very small and cheap iNav capable unit, I simply split the sbus signal from my RX so that it goes to both my main f/c, and the secondary one. Then I just use the iNav f/c solely to control the smart audio for the vtx via a 3 way switch on my Taranis. That way I don't have to have the vtx pumping out full power all the time, i can step the power levels up the further out I get. It works well, and have never had any problem splitting the sbus signal from my rx to two different f/c's - each running different firmware. It only adds a few grams weight to the plane, so until Ardupilot get around to adding support for things like smart audio by default, it is how i get around the problem of controlling the vtx in flight.

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  3 года назад

      Yes, those mounting holes are for a fan, and should work well when placed inside the fuselage! And yeah... in terms of looks the Dominator pales in comparison! Yes, the Data connection is for SA! Hahahaha, that is an interesting way of getting it working though! :P Have thought about it myself to be honest... but then I remember I don't really care much about switching power levels... once its in the air, it gets cooling regardless if I go far or not! :)

    I have the same Rush Tank solo, but the range is very disappointing. I use a Cobra X which coms with the Rapidmix VTX which is very good. For antennas, I use all the best in the market: a VAS 5.8GHz Crosshair Extreme LHCP and a Lumenier Micro AXII 2 LHCP for the goggles, and another identical Luminier for the Tank Solo. I only got 2km before the video breaks up. Could you tell me what should be checked? Thanks.

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  10 месяцев назад

      Well, it would be difficult to say really, but if we are talking goggles, my first guess would be that you are not really managing to aim the directional antenna at the aircraft! We talking copter or a plane?

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  10 месяцев назад

      @@nguyenducquocanh4341 Hmmm... 2kms at 400m altitude is pretty OK, that is a lot of altitude for 2km distance! You only getting 2kms in these conditions with a directional antenna in that environment is weird... although there could be an issue there, can you try going out of the city to an area free of wifi routers and cell towers on every building and see how it will perform there? You could also have some connection problem somewhere with an antenna... but I would try getting out of the city first and see if that helps! I sometimes fly from within the city as well, but I get a lot more than 2kms even with less powerful Vtxs.

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  2 месяца назад

      @@alecrider5077 Actually the pins for the VTx on the FC are output, not input. Then, check both manuals for the pinout on the FC and the Vtx to see what each pin does. You need to connect VCC, GND and Video out of the FC to the corresponding pins on the Vtx. This is the bare minimum of connections that you would need to get it working, you don't need to connect all 6 pins.

    Nikola, I cant comment on the new Rush vtx, but I had a noisey power setup in one of my planes - the 2w AKK Dominator suffered really badly from motor noise, needed additional filtering.
    My Rush TINY TANK ultimate 800mw needed no filtering at all. Same plane, same mounting location etc etc etc.
    Seems to me like RUSH are over taking other vtx out there in terms of quality. Might have to look into this new Rush product.

    Great review. Really nice comparisons.
    Regarding the Aggressor's performance; am seeing 10-12A (in OSD) compared to 6-9A that Andrew Newton measured in his flight test review. He did note (in build video) that stickers were wrinkled and loose so he removed those on the leading edge before flying. From the photos is video, it appears you have similar wrinkles and lifting of stickers. Might be worth investigating aerodynamic effects of the stickers before you start swapping hardware. Also, a higher wing loading would improve penetration upwind (not clear if this a factor as I didn't catch battery capacity being used).

    • @ArxangelRC
      @ArxangelRC  3 года назад

      Thanks! I have not seen his video, but yeah, the stickers are warped and wrinkly... may try removing them at some point to see if there will be a difference! Also... I am most certainly NOT swapping gear... the motor/prop combo is not this plane's problem, but when you note current drawn, you should also note at what speed, etc., current on its own is not an adequate indication of efficiency! Also... I seriously doubt the stickers account for a 50% increase in current for the same speed!

But you are more than welcome to make a video of your own, demonstrating the issues and to publish it online, so people can see it! No product is perfect, neither are the manufacturing methods... there will always be some faulty units! Also, you need to keep in mind that the Vtx alone does not solve the channel frequency bleeding! The receiver must also be up to spec on that front, to not RECEIVE a ton of frequencies at the same time, which could also explain your video quality degradation when two a working together... assuming the frequencies are close to cause an issue in the receiver.
