Travelled in a Tavera just 2 weeks ago and love it or hate it there's nothing that can come close to it in terms of sheer sitting capacity. It can carry 8-9 people and their luggage with ease.
I was one among the comment section who asked for an episode of GBNF for Chevy. Glad that you guys have answered to our call..(missed a Cruze in this video) Being a Chevy Spark owner my vehicle is a 2009 LTZ model and still runs solid. The riding comfort is so smooth even after 14 years and a boon in the tight city traffic. I will still hold on to it for another 5 years. ❤️

We had 2012 Chevrolet Tavera Neo 2 LT. My father bought it after his retirement from MSRTC. He used to rent it out as tourist vehicle. Actually we were out to buy Toyota Innova but my Dad wanted top variant of any vehicle we buy and Innova was little expensive for us so we settled for Tavera top variant. My dad put 11" Panasonic screen and Panasonic DVD Player in it. He had done trips like Mumbai - Velamkani, Mumbai - Bhopal, various trips to our native place in Kokan, Maharashtra. Sadly we lost my father in Nov-2012 so had to sell Tavera after 14-16 months of ownership. I was too young to have a car like Tavera so my mother didn't allowed me to keep it. Only issue we faced with Tavera back then was Suspension. It had very bumpy ride. If I get a chance to buy back our Tavera I'll definitely buy it.
The last ride I did in Chevrolet Tavera was from my home town to Solapur for wedding ceremony in summer of 2018. Yes it's gone from market but still there in rental car market.
has this in my childhood .. ours was a tevera neo 2 with captain seats , huge leather chairs .. red dual tone with silver top end .. had it for 8 years and with 1.1 lakh km .. and then upgraded to the new innova in 2012

The Cruz and Aveo were amazing tho. My family owned a Spark buying which was a mistake. This was rectified by purchasing a 2011 VDi Maruti Ritz which is still a faithful second car to today. The first ever car that i bought with my own money was the Chevrolet Spark. That was back in 2008. It was great little car and it served me well for 5 years, ~45k kms. It was the best looking car in the segment with a cute design and a nice, refined 1.0 liter engine. It also had a funky interior with the speedometer and telltale lights in the middle instead of behind the steering. I was really sad the day i sold it, after all it was my first car!
I was a proud owner of Chevrolet spark, which, we replaced with a new i10 nios a few months ago. I have to accept the fact that the spark was indeed a better car to drive than the nios, especially when it comes to performance. The spark also felt well put together. It didn't rattle even after 13 years of ownership. The stability of the car was awesome even at 150kmph. The interior felt premium with the beige and black colour combination. The Renault Duster definitely deserves an episode in this series. Laden with the powerful yet frugal 1.5 K9K DCi, the Duster kicked-off the compact SUV segment in India. We bought it in 2006 our first big car, learnt to drive in this. Had some good memories with this. It had great mileage but was very slow. Sold it off in 2012 as the body began to rust badly. It was reliable though
"Headlamps would be lighting up the moon", Haha, Sirish you are spot on with your verbal prowess, just love the way you review. On a side note, though these cars were not driver's machines, they had a taut personality to them that really pulls me to watch these endlessly even today.
I never thought I'd actually enjoy a review of the Tavera!! We had one experience with a General Motors car - the Opel Astra. My Mom bought it. We actually really liked the ride of the car and in its time it felt very luxurious. Only thing was that when she took delivery of this luxury car - a few meters outside the dealership she discovered that the fuel tank was about to fall off. Oh and though she had paid for a Blaupunkt system it was delivered without it. All was well after my Mom published an article in the papers that covered her experience! HM, GM probably not the best JV idea!
Wow!! These videos stoke so many memories. I was just starting college when the Opel Astra was launched and boy was she a looker, especially when compared to the Ford Escort. Then came the Corsa & its derivatives. And then the Opel badge changed to Chevy and things went into a tailspin for GM. Kind of sad if you look at what they started with, the Opel Astra. Lovely video. ❤
There are many memories attached to Tavera.. as it was the most frequently used in commercial market in here in Odisha.. and still now Tavera is used in commercial and this reflects its reliability..

Us Indonesians loved this car dearly (known over here as Isuzu Panther, although for a short while, the Tavera was also sold with a 2.2 liter petrol engine from a Blazer, which baffled everyone because of its petrol engine). It's very cheap to run and tough as nails.
please do something on the diesel rocket of India, a.k.a. the, chevy CRUZE....we need something really enthusiastic and informative related to the cruze on RUclips.
The cruze - briefly a segment leader, Spark - a solid no nonsense hatch and the Beat - a very funky hatch ahead of its time. Opel Corsa - the car of the millennium (remember the ad ?) Are you saving the good ones for another episode 😅

Man I think y’all dropped the ball in this one. EVO is all about the thrill of driving and the only Chevy that pulled the heartstrings of Indian enthusiasts was the Cruze. That’s the car to represent Chevy in GBNF.
Our market (Philippines) had this as the Isuzu Crosswind and these were tough vehicles. These are noisy and basic but has low maintenance costs and can go on rough roads.
Well I have a memory it was 26/08/2008, around 11:45 we had faced an accident in the 7 day old Tavera I lost my maternal uncle and from then the life changed a lot... I can't forget. It was the most horrible night and the most horrible ride

I love your videos sir, they were rewinding those golden days. I suggest you to create two videos on each of the legend cars named 1) Nissan Jonga used by Indian Army. 2) Tata Indica
Great review. The 2.5 Turbo Diesel was actually a Isuzu engine but assembled by Hindustan Motors. Hindustan Motors were also using the 2.0 Diesel and 1.8 Petrol which were also Isuzu designed engines.
Stay tuned for the Opel Astra video. We do have a ford special gone but not forgotten video on the channel. You can watch it here: ruclips.net/video/ERpwP9p-fY4/видео.html
Chevy has given Indian market some nice cars that were doing decent sales.. Spark Beat Tavera Cruze Aveo and Tavera. Also Captiva was decent SUV as well
Back in the day as Sirish said after the Qualis, Tavera was the numero uno choice of the cab operators due to its tough nature, reliable engine and decent fuel efficiency and it was a decently popular household name too, but the Tavera never stood for comfort or luxury if anything it stood as a budget friendly low cost alternative to say the Innova. Even I remember way back when we used to plan a Pune-Shirdi round trip and along with my grandparents we were a total of 6people we sometimes used to choose the Tavera due to the significant cost difference to say if we had hired an Innova from the same operator, also the latter being so popular was almost never available due to heavy demand which left us b/w this and the Scorpio which was even more bumpy and used to give my mother crazy motion sickness therefore leaving the Tavera as the only choice. Though personally I never liked the Tavera especially because I and my elder brother were thrown in the jump seats which was too uncomfortable for long distances, in comparison the Innova’s 3rd row bench seating felt like a magic carpet to us. Tavera was at its best in its final avatar when it had a more powerful and refined 2.0Turbo Diesel BS4 compliant engine but by then competition had moved too ahead Tavera died a slow and painful death. PS- IMHO GM never did a genuine effort in making cars, they just kept on slapping bow ties on any car they wanted and dumped it on the Indian market doesn’t matter it’s good or bad and never invested in full fledged R&D though credit should be given where its due their Service was top class and costs were kept in check too, I hope to see GM soon back in India along with its American friend Ford with proper homework and full enthusiasm of pursuing market share of Indian automobile market!
I have travelled a lot in Taveras. The person whose Tavera we hire regularly has driven it for more than 6 lakh kms.... I have driven it myself and just enjoy the free revving engine... though handling is a bit tad But the middle row has oodles of space most comfortable in its class I remember travelling in a Qualis in the middle row was tiring because the space from seat to the floor was just ... Insufficient
From the Forester to the Trailblazer, Chevy India tried a lot to woo Indian customers and enthusiasts. Which Indian Chevy had your fancy growing up?

please do something on the diesel rocket of India, a.k.a. the, chevy CRUZE....we need something really enthusiastic and informative related to the cruze on RUclips.
We shall definitely try for that!
The cruze - briefly a segment leader, Spark - a solid no nonsense hatch and the Beat - a very funky hatch ahead of its time.
Opel Corsa - the car of the millennium (remember the ad ?)
Are you saving the good ones for another episode 😅
tavera is king of kings 👑
Driving the Beat Petrol from 2011 and still top class
Wow! That's amazing! Got any stories you can share with us?
Tavera - A perfect Innova Rival in those days
The rolling shots are so dope in all these videos
Aye, thank you!
My Tavera, 19 yrs old and till now 3.5 L kilometers..still going strong
I have started liking this. Rather gimic and business centric approach you guys are coming with different things which enthusiasts loves to see. We are fade up of biased and. Paid reviews ❤❤
Proud owner of Neo 3 LT with 1 lakh km driven and in full stock condition !
We need Opel Corsa in the series! Much interested!
Gone and happy for it should be a segment. Best example as mentioned by Sirish is the Enjoy !
Haha!
"The headlamp ll b lighting up d moon"😂😂😂....Jokes apart, I still do remember reading ur review of forester in OD magazine....Good old days
Hahaha!
Man I think y’all dropped the ball in this one. EVO is all about the thrill of driving and the only Chevy that pulled the heartstrings of Indian enthusiasts was the Cruze. That’s the car to represent Chevy in GBNF.
We will try for that too! However many were asking about this in the comments, so here you are!
Our market (Philippines) had this as the Isuzu Crosswind and these were tough vehicles.
These are noisy and basic but has low maintenance costs and can go on rough roads.
don’t think they are gone.. still spot them rather often.. same with Qualis.. testimony to how well put together these people movers were
I always fancied Chevrolet captiva all my childhood
Well I have a memory it was 26/08/2008, around 11:45 we had faced an accident in the 7 day old Tavera I lost my maternal uncle and from then the life changed a lot... I can't forget. It was the most horrible night and the most horrible ride
Chevrolet Tavera cars are in my mind and are also in my parents mind too
Just for the sail diesel
Very informative video. Really loved the story of General Motors demise in India.
Glad you liked the video!
Sir Tavera top speed test please....❤
Tavera and Qualis...... Two good cars
Yep, they were.
This car is spacious and even comfortable for rear passegers! Suspension too very good for its time
Until it was jacked up.
We still own 2009 model 😊 done over 3L kms & still going fine
That's great!
The only japanese chevrolet apart from my most fav forester and trailblazer, the tavera! Or should i say the Isuzu Panther.......please do upload the video on the forester, its my most fav car ever sold in india 🔥🔥🔥
Now, let's see if we can get our hands on one!
That’s not Japanese but it’s INDONESIAN MPV. ISUZU PANTHER and Chevy Tavera (Gas only) in Indonesia
@@FrancisLitanofficialJAPINOY it is japanese because it was developed by Isuzu which is a Japanese company but was sold only in Indonesia and india
When u say Chevy, all I can hear is Cruz..... what a car...
I love your videos sir, they were rewinding those golden days. I suggest you to create two videos on each of the legend cars named
1) Nissan Jonga used by Indian Army.
2) Tata Indica
My first car Tavera ❤
Great review. The 2.5 Turbo Diesel was actually a Isuzu engine but assembled by Hindustan Motors. Hindustan Motors were also using the 2.0 Diesel and 1.8 Petrol which were also Isuzu designed engines.
Would love to see a segment about Daewoo
Hi Evo team,
Eagerly waiting for the Opel Astra, Ford Ikon and Ford Mondeo video.
Sirish, please feast us with the Astra.
Also Captiva was decent SUV as well
We shall try to bring videos on those too!
18:10 they even planned to launch a sedan version of beat = Chevrolet essentia.
Yep! But then, it's history as we know it!
@@evoIndia true
Highly unlikely these brands are ever coming back.
I loved the cruze. It was a great car to drive
It was a nice car.
I had always wondered why the tavera’s rear is so jacked up. Thanks for clearing my doubt 😅
I have travelled a lot in Taveras. The person whose Tavera we hire regularly has driven it for more than 6 lakh kms....
I have driven it myself and just enjoy the free revving engine... though handling is a bit tad
But the middle row has oodles of space most comfortable in its class
I remember travelling in a Qualis in the middle row was tiring because the space from seat to the floor was just ... Insufficient

Chevy (especially at this time period) was also a cost saving’s brand for us here in the states. It still is to some extent.
sirish is the henry catchpole of india😍😉😉
Haha! Thanks for that compliment!
Sirish you must do a Gone but Not Forgotten on the Tata Indica !!
