This game is maddening, I'm a defensive player naturally and the level of skill you have to have to win with defense is absurd and I'm a top 8 finalist in an international tourney. Playing defensive means holding 50/50s more, taking chip, holding plus frames. Playing defense in this game you're losing and the demonization of defense play with footsies and such is totally off putting.
How would you buff defensive characters in this game ? It's no secret that defensive playstyle/characters are lackluster compared to rush down characters since the system heavily favors the latter and Namco's expectations of playing a defensive character like rushdown/mixup character is just absurd.
You just have to use power crush more. When I started using RA's more and power crush more I have had more success. I'm an old school player so I never use power crush and only RA in combos to look flashy to end round. Now I don't care. My power crush is only -13 with push back and gets powered if you attack me making it completely safe lol So my i17 frame knock down mid power crush with Leroy is at times maybe his best mid. He doesn't even have a mid that knocks down safely his power crush and I'm still at -13 so Leroy needs his power crush like a regular mid
@PK-ow1kj for 1 nerf strings. Get rid of the seemingly infinite plus frames some characters have. Also no string should be a heat engager. Another thing some characters have way tomuch avoidance built into their stings. While others have zero and have to rely on purposeful back dashing and side stepping to avoid moves. Like I've said before string are way to strong in this game. Sure theirs always counter play but but when on defense I feel like I'm always on the back foot fighting for my life. Another thing they could do is give blocked unsafe strings less pushback. If my opponent does a -9 string I want them right in my face. Not knocked so far back 90% of my moves whiff.
I was a diehard tekken player for a long time. I had like 4,000 hours on seven and traveled all over the US for tournaments. Won some locals. If I didn’t have to work like an adult I would’ve just played tekken all day every day for years, it was that fun to me. I was super excited for tekken 8. I haven’t played in like 2 months at this point. I’m not officially “quitting” or anything but I just never really get the urge to play anymore. It’s like if they added a 4 point line to basketball and everyone was just chucking 4 point shots all game, I probably wouldn’t get the urge to watch the nba that much anymore either.
Honestly, they should make players choose between Heat or Rage Art. If you use Heat, you don't get the Rage Art, and vice versa. Having to worry about both of them is kind of suffocating, and characters having unique power-up functions on top of that only exacerbates these problems. Up until a certain point, it's way too easy to suffocate the opponent and turn it into a one-player game. It's just way too many "unga bunga" comeback mechanics and it makes things considerably less fun. Even if you win through using them, they don't always feel like earned victories.
@@JunKazamaFan I do comiserate with the comeback overtuning. Having to play chicken when your opponent has rage to avoid a metal gear solid cutscene. Rollback makes it impossible to land so you just laugh and CH grab them.
@@JunKazamaFan I'm not touching another new Tekken game unless Heat is completely removed. This is NOT my Tekken, and I've been playing since Tekken 2. I feel betrayed by the developers of this once legendary series. TAG 2 was PEAK Tekken.
Bandai Namco just basically needs to pull a CAPCOM move and come out with a classics collection. I was playing against someone in Tekken Tag 2 and they've told me ,"f#@# that game (TEKKEN 8)." Players are even going back to Tekken Tag 2, not Tekken 7, Tekken Tag 2, at least on the XBox side.
Best Tekken ever. Infinite replay value and has everyone's main. Customization peaked right there too. Not to mention the custom soundtrack. Peak Tekken before the TikTokfied Tekken specially with basic throw escape.
@@tablematts9055...oh Tekken 7 is still a masterpiece...that game took 11 years...11 years... to build a king size roster....the mechanics are so we'll balanced....Tekken 8 has still a few years to reach that status...Tekken 7 has literally spanned the life of ps4..
Heat was a huge mistake, tekken is a game for skilled players and dumbing down its gameplay this much takes away its appeal factor also the screen freeze when heat activated in the middle of the game kills the flow of play and that’s really annoying.
For me the heat system made the game not fun to play, so I haven't played in the past 2 months and don't know if I ever will again. I come from a street fighter background and this is my first Tekken game. The heat system forces you to play aggressive and you can't play a defensive style, which sucks. The round starts and you have access to heat already, no need to earn it by getting your butt kick like in street fighter. And they got heat activated moves which puts on plus frames, and the heat burst is to damm strong. and I'm hoping that somewhere in the future they fix or patch out or maybe nerf the heat system. That seems rather unlikely thou.
They should've made the Heat system optional like they Capcom did with SF Alpha where you can choose systems. Players should've been able to choose if they want to use heat or not.
For me it's the damn rage arts combos are already long enough so if some one continues to back dash and wait until you run up hit a combo into rage art it's damn near game over just have an option to take out rage arts and heat
@@ShiningSparkL1n6naw then they'd have some characters can raise the bar faster then other characters ugh the spiral never ends lol they just need to go back to classic just fight no specials at all
This version of tekken is unsalvageable. Heat is the literal antithesis of everything that tekken has built up until this point and its inclusion literally spits in the face of everything you have learned up until then. Personally I could care less if Heihachi or anyone else interesting returns because they are bound to be ruined by the new system. If anything I don't even want to see anymore characters come out, I just want this game to die now and die fast - Concord style even! Heat has literally sucked out anything interesting and the match can boil down to who gets the clean heat hit fast first. No jockeying for position, or nuanced gameplay. Whoever gets the party started first basically steamrolls the opponent and this is the case for a majority of matches. It doesn't matter how many improvements the game gets, the fact that heat (and everything that comes with it) is the CORE MECHANIC of Tekken 8 will forever be problematic for me. This game to me is now unplayable, and based on how one-sided matches can be, it's also unwatchable for me too. Tekken is no longer fun, Tekken is dead. I'd rather have NO TEKKEN than Tekken 8. Bring back 5DR!!!!!!
Brother u r not the only one who feels that way, ive been a tekken player since T3 and we used to play high level tekken and really high execution and when this shithole t8 came out it took us only 1 months to quit. I hope this game dies soon so they learn to get back to their roots. Tekken 7 is the greatest fighting game of all time it just needed some balancing.
@@ICEMAN-Z8 Tekken 7 wasn't that amazing either. Many elements of Tekken were dumbed down in that version too: Rage Drive was essentially Heat-Lite Power Crushes debuted to let you blow through attacks. Sidestepping was severely nerfed The buffer system allowed for sloppier inputs, and easier punishes and combos. It's not all bad though as it did reward knowledge of strings and for at least the first few moments of the round you were actually PLAYING TEKKEN. Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection is TEKKEN at its PEAK. There were no comeback mechanics, no buffering and no handholding - just PURE TEKKEN FUNDAMENTALS! Low parries were PRECISE yet EXTREMELY rewarding. Combos were short yet very damaging, and the gameplay was swift and engaging - not waiting 10 seconds for a juggle into a bound, into a wall-splat. The skill gap was OBVIOUS but if you put in the time you were DULY REWARDED!!
@@henryludvor6275 tekken 7 is not perfect but it was the best tekken we ever got, imagine if they made it graphics like 8 with actual real balance changes!?
I just hope it won't be any guest characters, The Heat system will make guest characters extremely overpowered. I hope Anna Williams is revealed after HeiHachi.
Basically, the honeymoon phase is over. Harada and the crew need to get back in the lab and make some legitimate modifications. Fix the cheating, refurbish the shop, and fix that god awful heat system. At this point, Harada shouldn't be afraid to ask the fans what they want to be done about it. I'm pretty sure they're putting some effort in keeping their game interesting. They've been very quiet since Heihachi's announcement but it's like you said Tekken 4,6, TTT2, the even numbers didn't do too well.
Yes, and I want and do believe that Tekken 8 will break that pattern. Harada and the team are being arrogant but I feel the minor tweaks I hope they'll make will be just enough. The Heat System needs overhauling, the armoring when going in to Heat Engage is stupid and should be a launcher if activated while in open.
@@takeshinakamura4543 I hear you, but the heat system already made its mark. Taking it out would practically make the game a Tekken 7 demake. Personally, I believe Tekken should make some adjustments to the Heat System, then focus on buffing, nerfing, and polishing the characters. 1st off, the heat gauge shouldn’t be full at the beginning of the match. It is earned through dealing successful damage and receiving damage. Second, a defensive mechanic of the heat system is needed: Backfire/Heat Crush - While blocking, input the specified command, the player executes a reversal that deals gray damage. The meter of both players will be deleted by half. They should also bring the damn rage drives back 😡
@@KurohigeDTeach-yy3ykHard disagree. The features you're looking for are already present in a little game called Street Fighter. This is TEKKEN. It was about pure focus, discipline and martial arts based combos. Not some stupid 1 button hulk smash rage hulk heat cr** If you're an original fan of the series from the ps1-ps2 era (not tekken7), you would surely know what I'm talking about.
@@takeshinakamura4543 I feel your passion bro but take it easy! I didn't make the game, I come from the 90s too and instead of having demands to remove a mechanic that basically defined the game, I'm just sharing some ideas on how to balance out the heat system. Like I said, it's here to stay...fans are either going to adapt or drop the game from here on...
Tekken 8 is the worst tekken oat: - Heat - Rage Art changed - Defense (parry, S.S, ducking) is punished - Overly aggresive (obnoxious) - Promotes spam - Armored moves - Heat Smash (50/50 and guarenteed follow up) - All about frame data - Dragunov as a character - Have to pay for a stage (not included in the pass) - Pay for new characters (cant use or practice against them if not wanting to buy - Heihachi is broken - Tekken shop (having to pay for items not worth the money or old items from previous games) - customization is decent, can be better - game promotes not using standard move list, just the heat system Overall: this game is rubbish
@@DeeallthewayG On defeated by real sewage known as modern mortal Kombat.... All Tekken 8 needs to do is gut heat from first round freebies and take chip damage out. We can measure the balance after the bullspit is taken away from spamers. Heats only issue is it's too different across all characters...some are either busted or completely impractical...
Tekken 7 looked dated, although the gameplay was solid. We needed a new Tekken, however we got a dumbed down Tekken that caught people off guard. Homing throws, tracking strings, counter hit throws, chip damage and guard breaks are some of the things that do not work in my opinion. The single player content in Tekken 8 is great and it looks good but the tiny stages and simplified gameplay hurt it, and I am not even touching on the plugging and monetization issues. Even on my friends list people have moved on, some have even gone back to Tekken 7, Harada said he wants Tekken 8 to last 9 years but the game is already dying.
Tekken 7 was shit too. Rage Drive was just Heat-Lite. Tekken 5DR is where real Tekken shines. No comeback mechanics, no flashy combos. Just PURE FUNDAMENTALS
@@straightlead8 Tekken 7 was dumbed down too. Combos were easier with the corkscrew system, and power crushes existed to let you blow through attacks. Sidestepping was made weaker and throws easier to break as well. Tekken 5 required execution. The buffer window on punishes was smaller and you had to be much more precise with your inputs. Low Parries were precise but incredibly rewarding. Put in the time and learn fundamentals and be duly rewarded.
Reminder that you can play tekken 3 with better netplay than tekken 8 and a full front end matchmaking client right now, don’t settle for slop with no movement
@@DeeallthewayG there is a netplay app called arkadyzja. It’s really new and still in very early alpha so there isn’t much players but as news spreads I’m sure we will see more
I honestly went back to MK1 and having more fun on it then T8 and it’s sad. In MK1 there’s more character identity and variety despite its BS in T8 they literally made every character play the same and have the same game-plan it’s repetitive, annoying and boring AF. Another reason why I went back to MK1 is they actually did the comeback mechanics right you use your FB that’s it for the match oh you mash armored reversals well now you gotta earn the meter back and manage it. Just my two cents i reached Tekken emperor and called it quits
I’m not even gonna lie, i was on quick match today and even that was somehow toxic. Game used to be fun but it just seems like everybody is already lowkey irritated when they start playing now lmao
I feel you on this, you can just feel the anger through the screen. Most people even quit in quick matches. It always starts fun until you meet that one person who's trying to annoy you for no reason.
There are some plugging in quick because your prowess points still grows in quick match, I think that may be the reason why people are plugging in quick match. But it is shameful that it's happening in that mode where all you have to do is just play and have fun.
The biggest problem with Tekken 8 is that it's not Tekken. Tekken has always been about defense, now the blue ranks don't know what they're doing. Everyone just presses attack and that's it. This is the end of the dance They don't know what spacing Is anymore. Now it's the plus frames that count. Offensives are rewarded to such an extent that most don't play like they did in Tekken. I am not a pro and I do not aspire to be. But Tekken has always been special, but now in the previous Tekken, people at such ranks They were thinking while playing. Now they don't . Defense is actually punished because it will take you at least twice as long to reach the same rank playing defensively. I don't want to play Tekken where the guy keeps attacking and if he loses I don't give him a rematch. And considering that two mistakes are enough, you literally have a better chance by constantly attacking. Rage art and heat smash They shouldn't be in the same game at the same time. I think rage art It is an evolution Heat Smash System and I don't know why they gave both versions 🤯
This literally happens to every single fighting game. EVERY single fighting game loses a bunch of players about a year in because they have to make the decision to start taking the game serious or quit because you stall out skill wise. The game is doing just fine people are so doom and gloom
@@GiovanniBallerinii it’s not roulette. If it was then we wouldn’t have the same people winnning every pro tournament. You take a high rank player and put then against red rank and the high rank wins every time.
@ that’s literally every Tekken when the game is in its early life cycle and also you have to remember this is the best selling Tekken game. Rank will get more competitive over time. So why does that even matter ? You said the game roulette now you are saying it takes skill ??
🌐Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection is where it's at when it comes to a fun time playing online, especially 🌐Marvel vs Capcom 2! As far as TEKKEN 8 "shutting down", we know Bandai Namco is not going to do that when TEKKEN 6 servers are still operating.
In my humble opinion... T7 gameplay was solid overall, But it had its issues, its main issues was something like this: - loading everything take too long. - dlc characters are op for too long. - story meh. - akuma" traumatized the community forever. - graphics are outdated on release even. - pc + cheating + plugging So i think if they fixed the main issues we had in t7 but in t8 without altering the gameplay too far the fans wouldnt be hating this much, But the fact of the matter is, namco hit the greed button and tripled down on greedy tactis just to get the most profit they can get out of everyone. Fans pissed but their pockets are filled.
Playing T8 very casual at the moment. I was wondering why I've been playing settlement crafting games more. (things like fallout 4 & palworld) Guess I was drained without realising It.
I stopped playing it and forgot I even had it for a while. Tekken 8 had potential, but potential means nothing when your player base would rather do something else. I went back to playing Tears of the Kingdom.
For me its Eddy(when he first released i had to take a break, it was too much to deal with). Im a Steve main and I despise fighting Eddy. Any tips for dealing with him.
The Heat System is destroying it imo. We survived the Rage Arts in Tekken 7. They still work well in Tekken 8. But the Heat system and heat smashers are too much.
I agree with most of your points in this video! I'll be honest, in T6 they introduced the rage and rage colors and I loved it, it gives the players a chance to make a comeback! But i think rage should've triggered at 25% or 35% health, I never purchased T8 yet, but I've been watching people playing it, critiquing it, and I'm glad I'm happy I didn't purchase it, when it came out! TTT2 was hidden gem, I've played it for years, but T7 and T8 made me cherish TTT2 so much!
It just so annoying losing to people who you know you're better than. But you lose because of the game like sudden side switches, counter grabs, rage arts, and guessing wrong. I'm not the best player but it's draining.
That's part of the game though. Now those mfers who you're fighting that are decent and you whoop on that ass and...and... GOTDAMN ASSIST comes up on their side at the end or them plugging...man i had to stop because I was getting petty and plugging on 🥷 that were plugging on me. I made a fkn list for that. I'd wait to the last round and let him almost win and plug if they were on the list. smh Had to reevaluate my free time on that shit. Not doing that anymore.
The problem with Tekken 7 and now worse with 8 is combo creep. The FGC as a whole is always like oooo, hype man look at that sick combo! But what they don't realize is that these 60%+ damage combos are what killed the franchise. Its also why Soulcalibur keeps getting worse. Fighting games use to be about... well fighting, mixups, the right move for the right job. Now its like, back the hell up, bait a wiff, do your macro-able combo. If you do that again, you win the round. That is not good game design. What we need is more ways to get OUT of combos. ANY time your character hits the ground, you should be able to tech, and that too could be punished if a opponent exploits that. Make more thought go into this. Right now its just zombie Tekken. (and no, not taking about the creatively bankrupt idea of brining Heihachi back)
The function your looking for was made in the 90s game and winner of fighting game of the millennium KILLER INSTINCT. everything else is a casuals coffin in fighting game terms that's why every single fighting game that's come out becomes a wasteland of no players. This isn't rocket science, just young bloods being stupid and arrogant without knowing any history of the hobby they enjoy
THIS!!!! This is the only way the Tekken series gets saved. Exposing people to what REAL TEKKEN is all about. Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection is the peak of the franchise and has only gone downhill after that, and come Tekken 8 has completely fallen off the cliff.
I like to compete too much to ignore Rank mode. I HATE the “Heat” mechanic more than I hate the idea of it scratching my competitive itch. Watching your video has convinced me this is just not for me. I’m holding onto a dead dream of enjoying this game like I did with Tekken 5/BR. Going to trade my physical copy in for store credit… I hate myself for even saying that 💀
He got it form twitter itself, you can tell because his thread is full of people saying that they are either leaving Tekken 8 or taking a break. I know people have been saying they're gonna quit because of the my comment sections. So it is a true thing that people are saying it.
Visually this game is just all over the place. Gameplay wise, it's just too offense focused. Too many plus frames into 50/50s, chip damage. We might have to wait til a later season or T9 tbh.
Sadly most of the things that irritate me are things I can't do anything about. I want to know the actual Ping rate between me and my opponent before excepting a match. It sucks when I except a 4 or 5 bar match and the ping rate is 100+. Give me my points when my opponent RQs. I don't know if this is possible but if your opponent is lag switching the game should disconnect and maybe not give you points but take points away from the lag switcher. We should have the option to block PC players most of them are cheats anyway.
@@edwardfell1016 no im on PS5 i want to be able to play people on PS5 and xbox while excluding PC players. If i turn off cross play wouldn't restrict me to only playing others on PS5
Being that Tekken is my favorite fighting game, I ain't going nowhere. But imo the devs hafta do better than adding characters that fans want back to keep them around. It's pointless when the game is still problematic.
I took the hard route being tortured maining pre buffed kazuya for 6 months. Put the game down for 3 months when Akuma dropped on sf6 and had tons of fun. Marvel vs capcom came out and I switched over to that and JUST started playing tekken again yesterday. Long needed break.
2:30 Bro, Tekken players been saying they gone quit since the T5 DRO on PS3. What's really going on in their mind is they can't handle the mechanics or new moves so they hate the game. This usually doesn't last that long. They end up returning on the next update. I learned that it's Tekken players better than me and I have to do my best to outsmart them.
Thank you Dee for talking about this issue and giving us another classic Tekken 8 video, me personally, ima play Tekken 8 when heihachi comes out, but once I get to a respectable rank with him, im probably done. You get to pressuring someone they can really bail themselves out with the press of r1, to me that’s kinda cheap and it makes it hella frustrating to play at times
I understand bro, I can't tell you how many matches I 've lost because of the opponent just pressing one button and going into heat and getting off a everlasting combo to beat in a round that they didn't deserve to win. It's definitely stupid and cheap. I love the combo system but the heat makes the combo system embarrassing.

I think we all sympathize with your sentiment here, but the game i.e. the heat system is objectively trash from a mechanics stand point, there is no way around it, there is no avoiding it. Players aren't just going to waste their time, energy, and sanity playing this dogshit game with its bullshit heat system, and that's not even taking into account the plugging, the balancing, character roster, or the mod bans. The players aren't responsible for fixing this game or if it dies. Michael Murry and Harada-San are solely responsible for T8 being trash and if it dies, not the players. That is a gaslighting viewpoint. The players are telling BN, and the lot exactly what the problems are and they refuse to do anything to fix them. And not only are the problems ignored, BN doubles down on other bullshit nobody wants, cares, or asked for.. As for me I did not buy the game cause i knew immediately it was trash and I'd give TT3 the same treatment if it was dogshit like this game. what a complete and utter disappointment this game has been.
There's nothing redeemable about this game as long as heat exists. And since it's the game's literal core mechanic, it will never be good. I don't care if it becomes the most balanced Tekken ever, it will always be bad because heat exists. No amount of polish is going to change this turd (Tekken 8 and Heat) from being a turd. It's times like this I wish Tekken 8 got the Concord treatment.
@@DeeallthewayG Nah ill just keep waiting until this game is completely dead so I can tell the T8 copers I told you so. I'd love to be proven wrong here, but this game will never outsell T7 as it stands despite what the copers believe. Game interrupting animations every 2 seconds and plus frames and defense mean basically nothing, everyone just spamming launchers and heat moves.
It's a combination of things for me that made me take a break. The heat system, the sneaky way they put the shop in, the pluggers, the way how characters seem to have the ability to be a rush down character, and how draining it is to play some matches. I'll probably come back to see how things are later. It's funny, I've always been a Tekken player since T3, but now, I have more hours in SF6.

Im giving up because if you play player match someone comes in with laggy connection everyone suffers the buttons inputs half ass work there only worried about there shitty battle pass and store not fixing the problems
I don't play games period every since realizing I spent over $700 on DOA5LR on purchasing characters and skins etc. Tekken 7 had me buying characters that always have been part of the game. I'm not getting ripped off anymore. Plus Tekken has become like every other fighting game with its mechanics. Heat dash? All this extra. Not wasting money or time anymore
Forced heat 50/50, chip damage, rage arts, heat dash that takes you to the wall for free mix-ups, power crush spam that beats practicaly everything, ch throws. I am fed up with 8 it's not even as defensive as 7, let alone 6. It's simply not fun win or lose
I've seen the charts and it seems like T8 is losing thousands of players every month and if it keeps going this way, soon it will reach the same player base that T7 had during its last days.
I'm a lifetime fighting game player. Tekken 8 was my first tekken I took seriously. I was addicted to it at first. I ranked all the way up to fujin. Was demoted and promoted back to fujin at least 20 times. I definitely topped out. At a certain point in subjecting myself to mental torture and not fun. The problem with Tekken 8 and MANY new school fighting games is that it depends mostly on the system. When I lose a match I don't feel like the better player won I don't feel like I learned from a loss and honestly I feel like I take up to blue ranks just on pure instinct and not on what I've learned. I tried, I really tried and I don't think I'll go back because I know only players with a high winning percentage are still playing and I know I won't learn anything from losing.
My ranking: Tekken 3 Tekken 5 Tekken 7 Tekken 8 Tekken 4 Tekken 2 Tekken 6 Tekken 1 But this is coming from someone who enjoys this on a casual level. I don't consider frames or metas or anything like that.
perhaps Season 2 will fix a lot of these issues. as for Season 1, Bandai are bankind on revealing the last character to be a guest character(don't be surprised if it's goku)
I still play Tekken 8 every once in a while, but man, every time I comeback it makes me realize why I don't play as much as I used to. After going on to Fightcade and playing classic fighters that require thoughtful gameplay, Tekken 8 just feels like a mashfest in comparison. I do sometimes run into players who don't roll their faces on their controller, but nearly 98% of the time, my opponent is mashing buttons round start. Idk. I'm not a Tekken player, I mostly play 2d games, but this feels like the mashiest fighting game I've ever played. It feels like no thought goes into most people's actions anymore. I think by the time Sparking Zero comes out, Tekken will be out of my rotation for good.I just gotta be 100% honest.
I begged for tekken 8 to happen and I uninstalled it last april. its been 5 months without tekken and can't say I regret my decision, seeing all the cosmetics and balancing. Devs showed which direction they wanted to take the game and it is trash. Now I can confidently say I don't want tekken 9.
T8 is boring. Every character has the same game plan. The whole roster has been homogenized and simplified. This doesn't even feel like a Tekken game with all the weird gimmicks they threw in. Also, WHAT DID THEY DO TO EDDY!!!! I PAYED FOR EDDY NOT SOME DUDE THAT LOOKS LIKE HIM! DUDE IS A WHOLE DIFFERENT(AND WORSE!!!!)CHARACTER. AND THEY ARE GOING TO MAKE YOU PAY FOR HIS CLASSIC OUTFIT WATCH. This game is fun for people who don't like Tekken.
Heat is trash , dlcs are trash , gameplay is TRASH , you get plugged and you sont get your win??Overall t8 is fking bad , just give me t7whit better graphics i would be very happy
Not a problem with taking a break from a game you like the most. Resident Evil is my favorite franchise but when a new game comes out and I finish it for the first time I may take a break for a bit and then come back to it. I even did the same thing with Tekken 7 when I got when it was released for PS4 I played it for hours and then after a few months or so I decided to take a break and then Lei Wulong made a entrance with a DLC and I was back to it for a few months and then there was the release for the remake of Resident Evil 2.
Heat is ridiculous, I don't use it because it feels cheap, rage art should only be usable once weather or not you land it, armored moves, button mashing wins matches. customization is weak, previous tekkens were way better, we got the tekken shop to thank for that.
@@DeeallthewayG Yea. I don't mind losing at all. I do mind button not registering and side step being a totally different on right side in online mode. The side is just weird. Too much tracking on moves.
I’m a casual weekend player and only played Tekken since I was a kid.. Since the game came out I think we saw some good balancing of characters (that must continue) and the grab spamming.. Since the beginning I was very sceptic about the heat system, but I kinda got used to it, but at the same time I think is too much. It’s very frustrating to fight someone and paying attention to defense, spacing and be tricky against your opponent to try to win your matches and only to be shut down by emergency buttons (Rage Art + Heat Smash). Another thing that wasn’t mentioned in the video and annoys me a lot and I think is a big factor for players giving up is the point system.. For exemple in my case : I’m stuck in Fujin for a while and yesterday I fought a Battle Ruler and lost the first game but I won the 2 after.. The points I made didn’t compensate the first loss I had.. and then I won a Kinshin 2 times in a row and did get some good points but nothing that special.. I still lost more points with the first fight against the Battle Ruler.. It seems unfair to me. I REALLY think that should be balanced because you can’t progressively become a better player, you have to be almost overwhelming to be able to move forward.. That unbalance is completely shutting down the players effort that engage themselves in playing ranked and eventually give up on the game. I really like T8 but sometimes I miss some things of T7. And also agree with you in guest characters. I prefer a dlc with Combot that any guest or some new character. Keep up with the good videos. Cheers.
There is still no tournament mode... to play online with a group of friends is nearly impossible... and why they took out the rematch function ? let me deadmatch if both want to... at least in quickplay
Honestly to me Tekken is just sfv with sidesteps honestly this game is extremely dumbed down. Especially with mindlessly aggressive this game is, if this was Yu-Gi-Oh it feels like everybody is running an unga bunga beatdown deck with no set up that otk. If you win its over too fast if you lose its over too fast. Honestly the game is burn out city because after an hour of playing it feels like i need a vacation. Tekken was basically the chess of fighting games where it made room from both rush down and defensive play but now its a joke. Dont even get me started of have people are defending the battlepasses and nostalgia costumes when most of this stuff was for free over the span of over 10 - 15 years. Some will try to excuse it saying its a "new engine" when they used other engines that were new at the time and still got free legacy costumes and other aesthetics for far less. To me namco wants to be the ea when it comes to that.
I love Tekken 8, but I am also having breaks. For me, I guess it is because there are important characters missing and I want to play the game when they are released. The second reason is that the negativity online and on RUclips around this game really destroys the fun as well.
I have played every tekken from release until the new game dropped.I dropped T8 very quickly, the heat and smash mechanics suck and are just comeback mechanics. Being good defensively used to be more important, now its all about aggro. I still play a couple games a week but nothing like I used.
@@DeeallthewayG yeah played about 20 games today which is the most in a while. But just really don't like the gameplay. Had 2 pluggers and one person with a really slow computer in that time. Lots of one and dones as well
The game has potential. At its core its an ok game. Not the best but not Tekken 6 level bad. It has it's good parts and I've already played it more than i did 6. But its surrounded with too much bs. Too much scrub friendly bs and greedy monetization. Everything just feels like a cheap cash grab. Some of the stuff, the intentions were good but the execution was not. They took risks but went way too liberal and just spit in the face of traditional Tekken. Strings that were low or mid to high jail now forcing you to take the mix up or get less punishment. Inescapable and counter throws to punish us with skill with S+ throw escape. Its all to get that fake hype. Fake show.
And the side stepping is completely out of control, I can't count on my hands how many times that I've tried to catch someone side stepping by faking them out and they still get away with a successful side step even though I baited them into doing it without making an action. I also noticed how inconsistent the power crushes are in the game as well, sometimes they go through heats and sometimes they get crushed by heats which is awkward asf.
I personally don’t like character interractions, above so many buggs that “rollback netcode” makes 100 times worse. There is a troubling imbalance, or shall I say, gamebreaking (for me) imbalabce between characters hitbox/hurtbox, I think too many characters have too big hitbox, and to add salt to the wound, they also deal too much damage. There is no room to breathe, oki is crazy, in some cases you can’t back up pn your feet, you’re launch back again or just die trying. I mean, I can go ON AND ON AND ON about 100 things why Tekken 8 isn’t fun. I could probably take the entire day. To sum it up. “Every character is on super steroids” Not fun. Not winning with, and especially not losing to that.
@@DeeallthewayG ive yet to see a standard powercrush beat a heat smash. burst i believe its the same rules as "who activated it last and armor lasts longer"
Makes sense. The game is bs. I havent stopped playing ranked, but playing kazuya is miserable. I get to actually play 20% of every match and sit and try to read spam the other 80%
This game is maddening, I'm a defensive player naturally and the level of skill you have to have to win with defense is absurd and I'm a top 8 finalist in an international tourney.
@@PK-ow1kj buffing backdash would be a step, it would nullify a lot of situations of being put in a 50/50.
You just have to use power crush more. When I started using RA's more and power crush more I have had more success.
I'm an old school player so I never use power crush and only RA in combos to look flashy to end round.
Now I don't care. My power crush is only -13 with push back and gets powered if you attack me making it completely safe lol
So my i17 frame knock down mid power crush with Leroy is at times maybe his best mid. He doesn't even have a mid that knocks down safely his power crush and I'm still at -13 so Leroy needs his power crush like a regular mid
Defense will definitely get you beat in this game, the defense is the Rage Arts and the Heat smashers and the power crushes.
I agree with you
@@JunKazamaFan imagine going into 3rd strike with all three super options and identical super meters.

Heat bar should be gained not instant use. it has to be filled like bar😅
For me it's the damn rage arts combos are already long enough so if some one continues to back dash and wait until you run up hit a combo into rage art it's damn near game over just have an option to take out rage arts and heat

Tekken 7 is the greatest fighting game of all time it just needed some balancing.
@@ICEMAN-Z8 Tekken 7 wasn't that amazing either. Many elements of Tekken were dumbed down in that version too:
Rage Drive was essentially Heat-Lite
Power Crushes debuted to let you blow through attacks.
Sidestepping was severely nerfed
The buffer system allowed for sloppier inputs, and easier punishes and combos.

Second, a defensive mechanic of the heat system is needed:
Backfire/Heat Crush - While blocking, input the specified command, the player executes a reversal that deals gray damage. The meter of both players will be deleted by half.
They should also bring the damn rage drives back 😡

- Heat Smash (50/50 and guarenteed follow up)
- All about frame data
- Dragunov as a character
- Have to pay for a stage (not included in the pass)
- Pay for new characters (cant use or practice against them if not wanting to buy
- Heihachi is broken
- Tekken shop (having to pay for items not worth the money or old items from previous games)

THIS!!!!
This is the only way the Tekken series gets saved. Exposing people to what REAL TEKKEN is all about.
Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection is the peak of the franchise and has only gone downhill after that, and come Tekken 8 has completely fallen off the cliff.
Facts bruh. I don’t support rage quitting but after seeing the amount of broken BS especially with HEAT, I see why people get angry/frustrated. 🤬🤬
And the messed up Rank Point system is also causing the constant rage quitting as well.
One does not simply quit tekken. But there's also like... 20 games I want to beat before I go back home.
Going to trade my physical copy in for store credit… I hate myself for even saying that 💀
Playing in low ranks is horrible even coming across dudes with ranks who seem as if they don't even know wtf they're doing
the guy who made the tweet, where he got the news from that more and more people quit tekken?
He got it form twitter itself, you can tell because his thread is full of people saying that they are either leaving Tekken 8 or taking a break. I know people have been saying they're gonna quit because of the my comment sections. So it is a true thing that people are saying it.
Visually this game is just all over the place. Gameplay wise, it's just too offense focused. Too many plus frames into 50/50s, chip damage. We might have to wait til a later season or T9 tbh.

What’s wrong with side stepping in a 3D fighter/Tekken 8?
Tekken 8’s side step system is just corny to me, it lacks property value💯💯
Sadly most of the things that irritate me are things I can't do anything about. I want to know the actual Ping rate between me and my opponent before excepting a match. It sucks when I except a 4 or 5 bar match and the ping rate is 100+. Give me my points when my opponent RQs. I don't know if this is possible but if your opponent is lag switching the game should disconnect and maybe not give you points but take points away from the lag switcher. We should have the option to block PC players most of them are cheats anyway.

Being that Tekken is my favorite fighting game, I ain't going nowhere. But imo the devs hafta do better than adding characters that fans want back to keep them around. It's pointless when the game is still problematic.
Same here yo
I took the hard route being tortured maining pre buffed kazuya for 6 months. Put the game down for 3 months when Akuma dropped on sf6 and had tons of fun. Marvel vs capcom came out and I switched over to that and JUST started playing tekken again yesterday. Long needed break.
Spittin facts bro, addressing the situations without making it a big deal like the ones who complain 24/7 about the battle pass and stuff
Right on bro, That Battle pass stuff I just ignore it. I don't put no time into that mess.
Can’t avoid prowess based matchmaking always going against Kishin and bushin ranks even though I never hit those ranks
I still be forgetting about the prowess system. I honestly don't think that The Prowess system will return in the next Tekken Sequel.
@@SuperiorWare And you make a definite valid point, Heihachi is already making some come back💯💯

I understand, but it can’t be that bad. Maybe you just need a simple break.

Yes, and he's going to be the most played and most overpowered and people will beg for him to get nerfed, which won't happen because he's a mishima.
Pleeeeeeaaase tell me the beat in the intro of this video?
@@DeeallthewayG glad we see eye to eye with this Dee, one things for sure, even if I stop playing ima stay locked in with your content to see if anything Brings me back to it 💯
I think we all sympathize with your sentiment here, but the game i.e. the heat system is objectively trash from a mechanics stand point, there is no way around it, there is no avoiding it.

How about we remove armor from the rage arts😅
No, that's a bad idea. Rage Arts should keep the armor. remove the armor from the Heat Engage, that's the solution.

I'm not getting ripped off anymore. Plus Tekken has become like every other fighting game with its mechanics. Heat dash? All this extra. Not wasting money or time anymore
Just when i get done labbing after months of not playing i get this video 😂
Forced heat 50/50, chip damage, rage arts, heat dash that takes you to the wall for free mix-ups, power crush spam that beats practicaly everything, ch throws. I am fed up with 8 it's not even as defensive as 7, let alone 6. It's simply not fun win or lose
I've seen the charts and it seems like T8 is losing thousands of players every month and if it keeps going this way, soon it will reach the same player base that T7 had during its last days.
And I honestly don’t want that to happen. We will never get the updates or the characters we won’t back if that happens 💯💯
@@DeeallthewayG I think it will happen at some point. Tekken players are too negative.
My ranking:
Tekken 3
Tekken 5
Tekken 7
Tekken 8
Tekken 4
Tekken 2
Tekken 6
Tekken 1
But this is coming from someone who enjoys this on a casual level. I don't consider frames or metas or anything like that.
perhaps Season 2 will fix a lot of these issues. as for Season 1, Bandai are bankind on revealing the last character to be a guest character(don't be surprised if it's goku)
We can only hope, and hopefully they don't bring us any 2D guest characters. We want classic characters in Tekken 8 to return.
That instrumental in the background speaking to my soul

I begged for tekken 8 to happen and I uninstalled it last april. its been 5 months without tekken and can't say I regret my decision, seeing all the cosmetics and balancing. Devs showed which direction they wanted to take the game and it is trash. Now I can confidently say I don't want tekken 9.
Had more fun with SF6 this time around than T8. I wish VF5US was ported over to PC because I don't have my PS4 anymore
TTT2 wasn’t trash! Only thing I disagree with in this video besides I feel where coming from.
Heat is ridiculous, I don't use it because it feels cheap, rage art should only be usable once weather or not you land it, armored moves, button mashing wins matches. customization is weak, previous tekkens were way better, we got the tekken shop to thank for that.
What i dont lije is heat, and sometimes online my buttons simply do not register and execute.
The inputs are a problem, the game always says that I press rage art when I never did. I hope they fix that issue as well💯💯
@@DeeallthewayG
Yea. I don't mind losing at all. I do mind button not registering and side step being a totally different on right side in online mode. The side is just weird. Too much tracking on moves.

@@rarerashad That’s not true, the game allows you believe that, but there really isn’t 💯💯
Cheers.
Thank you bro, I really appreciate it. And I respect your comment. Everything was perfectly said💯💯
What I learned from the video: I fwlt what he was sayin
There is still no tournament mode... to play online with a group of friends is nearly impossible... and why they took out the rematch function ? let me deadmatch if both want to... at least in quickplay
The tournament mode also made tekken 7 fun and attractive. They need to bring it back💯💯
Dude I just love the characters , but fighting games isn’t something I’ve taken serious , which people do a lot
It's hard not to when you get good at the game and understand
Rage art is a big reason for the frustration
I disagree, it's the Heat System imo.

I have played every tekken from release until the new game dropped.I dropped T8 very quickly, the heat and smash mechanics suck and are just comeback mechanics. Being good defensively used to be more important, now its all about aggro.

There is a troubling imbalance, or shall I say, gamebreaking (for me) imbalabce between characters hitbox/hurtbox,
I think too many characters have too big hitbox, and to add salt to the wound, they also deal too much damage.
