I don't think ranked should be infinite but casual matches being infinite death match would be fine Can't boost on casual only use it to have fun and improve without worrying about losing ranks
If death matches meant boosting then FT2 means boosting ultra pro max. Why? because people are unable to learn the matchup and how easy it is to rank up. To me boosting isn't just someone holding forward and other one getting the win for points, it's more about how easy it is to rank up. In T7 Jin was one of the hardest characters to rank up. In T8 he is literally busted and combine that with 12+ moves he can effectively use in a match, good luck with learning the players tendencies. We saw this happen with Raef Jin at twt, people were simply holding back at wall against him, even though there were so many options to deal with it, because they didn't expect him to do that they were tried to play safe and lost. in short FT2 = spam the most BS as fast as you can.
Infinite matches were like a good way to get character knowledge and hour sessions it was great, probably the most unique thing that no other fighting game does (there might be a fighting game that im missing that does this but oh well you get might point)
Tekken 7 has taught me more about how to play better than t8 despite t8 having more features for learning. And t8 still has boosting. People just do it with character picks and plugging now.

We need it back. It's not just a cultural thing. Tekken is naturally fit for deathmatches. The compromise that we can get is to replace casual matches with infinite deathmatches.
Deathmatches should be a default option only for quick matches, but ranked matches should have a shortcut to deathmatches after finishing a game/set (it would work just like the replay mode shortcut, so no more points after your ranked default set to avoid boosting), also, the ranked default set should be ft3 (optional as always, you should be able to leave the set if you want or need to).
If they put death matches. This will prevent people in finding an opponent quickly. I really like death match but i see myself also being frustrated because i can’t find an opponent.
they should just have a deathmatch section like if you want longer sets just queue up there. I love love love longer sets especially when I’m getting my ass kicked and slowly improving over time. That’s when tekken is at its best. Dealing with those Ls and finding a way and acclimating/adapting to that persons play style and character identity
Please bring back deathmatches- sincerely from an hard stuck Shinryu-Tenryu Lili main No but seriously people like me who T8 is there first real Tekken would like to experience them.
Death match is a must for certain characters period, not jus players. Tekken OGs kno that there’s characters with all the gimmicks who excel at grabbing knowledge check wins. Then there’s the characters who excel once the player has their opponent downloaded. Most Tekken players don’t understand tier lists because they can’t see it in action in T8. Get’n bodied or beaten by purely knowledge checks isn’t how you’re supposed to learn how to win or lose in Tekken. Finally, you won’t have rank inflation. Nobody will knowledge check to gold tier and stay there. They will have to develop as a player instead of being rewarded for cheese in a first to 2 set. We have all these mechanics in the game that give every character cheap ways to steal wins, an extra layer of BS to overcome in a very short set.
Even though it's not what made tekken 7 great dee, I don't really see a need as to why it had to go. The main reason it should stay or return is because if you're playing against another player and you wanted to focus on that match up you should have the option to continue to rematch with them.
I don't think heat usage would change a whole lot, maybe for specific mus after a bunch of matches. Heat about to get some changes next season anyway so we gotta wait and see
Real Question... Is boosting that big of a deal in the first place? Sure, some idiot pays money to get a rank he doesn't deserve, but then what? He'll either not play again or swiftly get humbled at such a high rank by actual GoD players and slowly make his way back down. In the case of leaderboard farming, people have been caught already doing that shi EVEN on the ft2 system we have now, so infinite rematch doesn't prevent that. The death matches won't return to Tekken 8 in online rank. Throughout season 1 to the beginning of season 4 of Tekken 7, a lot of gamers including myself were doing death matches but became mentally exhausting. As a result, players start doing two out of three towards the end of Tekken 7 in order to prevent themselves from mental stress and exhaustion.
