  • In a sport that has no pun intended suffered more black eyes then and then inexperienced fighter taking a fight on short notice. This new decision on the Olympic level may completely alter the way the sport of boxing moves forward from here on out.
It is my opinion that, without the right amount of promotion, no entertainment can be successful. Whether it’s sports art or anything in between I’m boxing is no exception. Here’s my opinion in on the Olympics getting rid of boxing moving forward tell me what you think in the comment section can we recuperate from this catastrophic setback??

Fury ruined boxing for us all! Too many different belts and not enough bouts! Christmas comes more often than heavyweight fights

I don’t think it will be the end, but it will be the start of the end if shit don’t change. Too many belts, too much corruption, not enough big fights.

They are starting something with the world championships. What’s gonna be important is do we have the fights at the pro level which will inspire young people to take up boxing. Because even if something like Crawford vs spence don’t make money if it’s seen by a large audience and its a classic than people will join. Also you need a figurehead in the hw division even if they’re not always winning who takes parts in rivalries like wilder vs fury. If the world championships can encourage the elite amateurs to compete in it with the right media around it. They can go without the olympics because let’s be honest, the olympics are dying anyway. It might be a blessing in disguise.

That's a good point. I think the prestige will likely shift downstream to the worlds and continual tournaments (pan ams, commonwealth, euro title, etc.)

Dana White will always have the upper hand in negotiations until the UFC loses its monopoly as a brand. People don’t watch MMA; they watch UFC. There are smaller promotions that pay better such as Bellator, PFL, and ONE, but they’re hemorrhaging money and the belts aren’t prestigious due to shallow talent pools comparatively.

I don’t think it'll hurt boxing but boxing needs to be under one roof with one belt wba wbc ibf wbo needs to combine belts take their fees individually but have one championship

Who needs the Greek ancient fight of boxing when you have badmington and ping pong in the olympics! Whats next greco-roman wrestling?
