FYI, I decided to install the LS6 intake and 80mm TB initially while I'm breaking in the motor. When I get to the dyno, I'm planning to have them do the initial tune for the LS6. Then while it's still on the dyno, we'll swap to the Dorman & 90mm TB, adjust the tune, and then do a final pull. It will cost me a bit more for the extra dyno time, but this way I can get a true before/after comparison on the ported Dorman intake. So stay tuned for that!
YES! please and thank you! been tossing around whether or not the dorman is worth it! if you show a gain i'm going to pick one up and home port it like you did.
Yes, I'll definitely share the results, good or bad, as I'm very curious myself. I'm still in the "break-in" period with the motor. I have about 150 miles on it thus far. Need to get around 500 miles to finish the clutch break-in too. So hopefully dyno day isn't too far out. And I'd like to get to the dyno before it's 100* in August, haha.
Ugh, I know! I'm ready to see numbers too. The motor is back together and in the car. My target is to get 500 miles on the motor and the new clutch before I hit the dyno. I'm at about 400 miles right now so I'm getting close. Then I can finally schedule my dyno day!!
will I need a car water pump or can I use the stock truck water pump? Im building a 5.3 for my nova and I want to run this intake on my 5.3 but Im wondering what might be required for it
It sounds like you have a vacuum leak of some sort. If you have access to a smoke machine that really helps narrow down the source. Also keep in mind the floor of the DLS2 manifold is even lower than the LS6 manifold. Make sure it’s not hitting the valley cover bolt heads.
No issues. There are a number of things that can cause a vacuum leak. The easiest way to inspect is with a smoke machine. Just look for where the smoke is leaking. I did back to back runs on the dyno between the LS6 intake and the DLS2 intake. When the shop tech swapped over the DLS2 intake he forgot to connect the vacuum hose on the back side of the intake and that caused a vacuum leak. Found it pretty quickly with the smoke machine.
Honestly I'm not sure. I don't have an LS2 water pump to compare with. Clearancing the w/p and intake wasn't too big of a deal. So unless you specifically needed a new w/p, I would just clearance what you have vs buying a new w/p. But if you find out the LS2 w/p clears, definitely post back so others know.
I put a link in the episode notes to the Amazon page for this intake. Looks like it's currently about $385. Keep in mind you'll also need an LS2 90mm throttle body (silver blade). I picked up a used one off the Corvette Forum for around $250.
@@jeremymcloud30 Your Awsome! I say that because your the first " LS Mentor " that has taken the time to respond to any of my questions. So Thank You. We are doing an Ls Swap into an 2002 S15 (4.3 - V-6) for my son, using an LH6 5.3, looking for lower profile better performance intake option. The Dorman website says the intake it wont fit, but like you, I think it will. I'm sure they call it out due to the DOD. I'm trying to do this swap on budget obviously due to the number of specialty parts that are required to make the LH6 fit in the S15. To expand on my question, I am trying to determine if the injectors and fuel rail system can be scavenged from the orig 5.3 intake. I'm also looking at the fuel delivery system, jump, regulator and lines to determine what will need to be upgraded on the OG S15. In the dyno video I believe you had made comment that you expected higher gains, is this intake swap worth the effort?
I'm always happy to help if I can. Unfortunately I haven't done the swap you're working on, so I'm not entirely sure on the injectors. I think there were some differences between the car injectors and truck injectors. As for the gains, I am happy with the intake. It made more power at the top, and lost nothing in the low end. That said, it was definitely more work to install it, plus I ported the intake runners.
UPDATE: Check out the dyno video to see the power gains of the DLS2 intake vs the LS6 intake. ruclips.net/video/Tkeyyd0Ycg0/видео.html
Very informative and helpful. You do a great job of explaining things clearly. Looking forward to the dyno comparison!
Thanks. I'm looking forward to the comparison too.
👏👏👍 what injectors are you running? Or what will be good for the doorman with a large camshaft

The truck water pump wouldn’t fit?
Yes I did. ruclips.net/video/Tkeyyd0Ycg0/видео.html
Where’s the performance numbers. Cool videos been wanting to do this myself

Did you use the ls1 fuel rail?
Yes I did.

Injectors and fuel rail from the ls1 all fit?
Yes. I used my stock rail and injectors during the initial break-in. When I got to the dyno, I swapped over to the FAST 36 lb injectors.
I'm having starting and dying issues I have the dorman ls2, didn't tap for hvac line would that be my problem

Have you had issues with vaccum leak with this intake manifold. I bought one of these and my mechanic is saying its has a leak?

So would an LS2 Water Pump clear the 90mm intake easier than a LS1 water pump?

No, it does not

can you send me the part number for that intake manifold
I have questions about installing a gm ls2 intake onto a 6.0 engine. Give me a shout
Fallowing. I want to install one on a gen4 4.8/5.3
Im guessing you used the LS6 fuel rails and injectors?
Brian Burbage Yes, I used my stock fuel rail (ls1/6) and Fast 36lb injectors.
