The way you feel about this bike is the way I feel about 2021 Meta AM (medium) which has a 470 mm reach, 63.6 headtube angle, 78.5 seat tube angle, and a wheelbase of 1258. I really thought the bike was going to be too big, too slack, too long, and too slow in the turns. I was pleasantly surprised after riding it. The steep seat tube angle does a good job of shrinking the cockpit. Makes the bike feel and ride really well. Also, for how heavy it is, the bike climbs like a goat. Another great video and review brother. Hope to ride with you soon. Peace.
You know, I was thinking about the Meta AM immediately after these rides. Because I was hesitant to accept that such aggressive geometry could be fun for a rider like me, on the trails I ride. Now, I’m thinking Heck Yea! For sure man, let get a ride in soon. And thank you
Me too. Late August/September was the estimate. Sold my Gambler and Megatower bikes in preparation! Been ripping a 130mm nukeproof Reactor in the meantime.
Loved the video. Excellent bike review my brother. We had so much fun on this ride. The stoke was high. TMB was the perfect trail to test it on!!! Good call!!!! Yewww 🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@GerardoGarcia-kj9qf honestly the two days I rode it I didn’t really notice a difference with the oval. As for the dropper, don’t remember but I’m sure it’s listed on Transition’s website
Awesome video brother and perfect timing. I’ve been looking for a bigger big for Summit as my SB130 is less than inspiring, but something I can occasionally ride at Greer as well. Any chance you’ve ridden a new Trek Slash 9.8 as a comparison?
Oh man, tough question there. I prefer the SX on both climbs and descents. On the Spire I felt crammed when seated. Descending the sx felt more composed. But everyone’s preferences are different. Hope that helps some
How does this bike compare to the Commencal Meta AM 29? I have the opportunity to buy either bike and I am really torn. Awesome video. Keep up the great work!
Thanks! In my opinion the AM is all business (plow machine) The SX isn’t as composed at high speeds but a lot more fun. I consider the AM strictly for enduro racing and the SX for racing as well but also bike park focused
@@JeremyAdley Spire to me felt like a DH bike dressed as enduro. Great bike but felt cramped when seated. The SX feels like an enduro bike that likes to hang out at bike parks.
Nice Review! You help me a lot in my decision. Im not sure if i should take a M or a L frame, btw im 1,76 cm tall, but now with your help M should be fine
Thank you for the review. Im thinking to get a small size. im 5'7". I preferred a small frame bike rather than big frame bike. Coz now i have a medium bike but way big to me specially the seat tube length and the standover height. That i dont know the geo before i bought the frame. Im new to mtb last year. The size medium of this bike, i think fit for me. Hope so🙄 Keep pedaling!👊🏼
Very similar. Soon as I got on it I felt somewhat at home. Unless one takes big hits that require all that travel, both bikes, in my opinion perform nearly the same
How this is exactly what i was lioking for how does this compare to your switchblade? I have the v2 sentinal now but i want something just a little more rowdy!
I have a 2019 Firebird which is also 170/170 with a more conservative geometry. The spire feels a lot more fun on the rowdy steeps and tends to pick up speed faster, however it isn’t as agile on the tight and twisty trails. If that makes any sense
Excellent video, thanks for sharing with us! You always show the bikes that I love, the Commencal Meta 29 2020 (and at the time we were talking about the 2021 model), YT Capra and now this beautiful Transition. I asked you on Instagram where you bought it because I want to buy it now! And with this great review, which tells us about size and feel, I am sure of this bike. I hope it will be available for sale soon. Thanks!!
@@kingrat738 I feel like high pivot and mullet are the new trends. I just wish Commencal would have kept their high piviot enduro bike they had many years ago.
@@kingrat738 I guess "trend" was the wrong word to use. It implies that running a mullet setup doesn't improve bike performance when it actually does have benefits. I used to ride mullet back in the day. I used to have a 2001 Specialized Big Hit that ran a 24 inch rear tire and 26 inch front tire. I still have a 2004 Big Hit in the attic. One of these days I'm going to rebuild it with all the latest equipment.
Just gotta love people stopped in the middle of 10 ply wtf
Been waiting for this. Love the candid reactions. Thanks for this review man.

Excellent vid on the Spire. Called around OC and no shop has them. The Path said maybe September or Oct. Your friend got lucky!
Thanks man! Lucky guy indeed. Glad I got the chance to ride it for a couple of days.

Having a super tough time myself deciding between the commencal sx and spire. Looking for a good climber, and mean descender.
Yea man, that’s a tough one. Me, I’d go with the SX

What's the name of your local trail looks like fun
Would you describe the Firebird as more an all rounder compared to the Spire? Both bikes nice anyways!
That is exactly the answer I’ve given to those that have asked me to compare both bikes.
Such a sick bike.
Transition nailed it with the purple 💯

I’m watching this thinking you local bike park is going to be basic and then u go to snow summit I’m Jealous. Nice vid
Haha! Thanks man
So a large would be too big u thinking. It's only about an inch more reach and wheelbase
I think so. An inch may seem insignificant but makes a huge difference when it comes to bike geometry
@@MILTONATOR What if you just run a shorter stem. I ride a large now with 470mm reach. This would only be 10mm more reach.

Better than the Firebird?
In the bike park, yes. But not away from it. The FB is an all around better bike.

Much more stable down the steeps (longer chain stays and wheelbase) but not as agile in the tight turns. Fun bike tho
