Good example of that is in one of the worst Bond films, "Die Another Day", where he walks into a 5-star hotel looking like a homeless man but is still the coolest guy in the room

Spot on David. But I'm surprised you didn't mention Shoulder seams. It is such an important thing to get it meeting just as the shoulder ends. It's also one of the toughest things to get right without sacrificing everything else.
I'm watching this guy for the first time and he is apsolutly wright about matching sizes for different people and that everything is in our mind! For example,i am an average build person and couple a days before i bought a t-shirt for children and in the store the salesgirl was convincing me to take the larger one but when i got out from the dreessingroom she just said "MAY I PACK IT UP FOR YOU,SIR'!" And i"m 41 years old.
...Your simple suggestion of being confident in not just what you wear, but how it fits, is MUCH appreciated from a general social awareness point of view (for me). Male, or female, that exude confidence in their low brow style of fashion, say much more than what words can express. (just subscribed, and now, is my focus for cold season enjoyment 2020 .)
Just FYI as of 07/19/19 Old Navy has their Active Breath On Navy Polos on sale for $18.99. It’s a blend but they fit great! I normally wear a medium, but on your advice I went to a size small and it fits perfectly!
This have a few old Navy polo shirts . They are really good . This also got a very nice P jacket 2 years ago. Just like the one on Skyfall . ( Not the one they sell now ).
I love this! Getting into the Bond Experience now and this helps me with my look. I’ve always had a shirt that is either too big or too small. I appreciate you and this video so much!
5:30 !!! This is my rule; always buy the smallest size that fits you (as long as you can comfortably move in it). Even when I try size L an I feel that it fits me perfectly, I always try the size M just for the sake of comparing it (and if it's too tight, I'll stick with L).
Good video and some great pointers, but I disagree with your understanding of fit. You said yourself you need to find an optimum between what is shown on screen and what works for yourself and I feel like you are trying to push yourself into clothes that were made for a different (maybe more athletic, maybe younger) bodystyle. One off the basic rules of mens classical fashion is to have the least possible wrinkles. That goes for trousers, jackets, shirts and even shoes. Whenever you present Poloshirts for example as well fitting, they always seem at least half a size too small to me. You said shirts shouldn’t cut off your circulation, but shirts shouldn’t ever be so small that you even have to think about them cutting off your circulation. The underarm area seems way too tight to me, which doesn’t just show the wrinkles, but increases sweat production as well. Also having shirts fit this small doesn’t just accentuate your pectoral muscles, it forces them on the person in front of you. That might be something a bodybuilder wants, but definitely not a person looking for the classical James Bond Style. What I don’t understand is why someone with your level of expertise, knowledge and access to these rather expensive items chooses to wear something that doesn’t make him look as good as it could. Especially since that’s not even how these clothes fit Daniel Craig (and even if they did, that wouldn’t make it ideal for you). If this seems like a rant, it kind of is, because I simply can not wrap my head around it. But in all honesty, I’d really love to hear your opinion on it.
I know David isn't saying one has to buy the Bond Brands. However, if you want to wear the same "Brands" as Bond, then be prepared to open up the bank. If you like paying $200 for a simple Polo shirt then dressing "exactly" like Bond is in your wheelhouse. For most folks, we're going to settle for "looking" like Bond in fit ect. without having the tag (and $$$) that goes along with it. I wouldn't mind recommendations on cheaper alternatives (Brands and/or sites) that maintain the look for cheaper prices. Really enjoy this channel.
Good work again David. Wonderfully illustrated and a very lucid, natural citation of the different styles and silhouettes. With regards to the pink, I honestly think it comes down to skin tone whether someone can pull it off or not. Robert Davi introduces pink from his own wardrobe to Licence to Kill and he looks fantastic because of his dark hair and more tanned tone. Much like Sean can in Thunderball. I’m hideous in pink because I have very pale, translucent skin and it does little for me. Matt Spaiser is the ultimate go-getter trend setter and if he decides he wants to wear pink, we’ll all follow suit. Pun intended.
@@TheBondExperienceexcellent idea, if you get burnt you will have a nice complimentary combo: red and pink. 😂😂😂 I particularly like pink and orange 🍊 so maybe don't sunbathe too much.
I have always thought that you have nailed every outfit and I have tried a lot of these brands and struggled with the sizing myself. I have fallen victim to all sorts of issues and I am ok with it. If you enjoy the piece go ahead and rock it.
The Sebastian is a fantastic polo indeed. But I really had to get used to the tight sleeves. Regarding that, I prefer the look and fit of the Felix and Andy polos. All have high sleeves, but the Felix and andy are a bit more relaxed.
This is the first video I see from you and I must say. You are AWESOME! I can see the passion in you and the way you go in-depth in the themes which are important to you. I'm also a great James Bond fan and I totally get the idea of invoking the "James Bond feel" by dressing in a certain way or doing activities like snowboarding, paintball, or skydiving. It can be different for each and everyone, but it's that feeling of being in your absolute best state. You are in your James Bond mode and feel like nothing can stop you. Clothing can be a big driving force for this. More so because in some cases it shows status and wealth. You see, James Bond has two different "profiles", the first one is the slick spy in a suit and the other one is a more tactical war soldier. Both are awesome, have great clothing, and make you feel like the same person. James Bond. I know this would be out of topic for you, but have you ever considered doing an in-depth analysis video about the clothing in the Indiana Jones movies. I think you would enjoy it. It has some pepper called "adventure" and "freedom", things that James Bond lacks. In the second Indiana Jones film, at the end when he is standing on the bridge, all his clothes totally messed up, dirty, and fallen apart. You wouldn't believe me but I swear, you would want to wear that outfit in that state and feel like Indiana Jones on that bridge in an awesome adventure in the middle of nowhere. It's all about the feeling you want to invoke! Thanks for the Video!! :D
@@DavidG-ws8cn I agree! Don't get me wrong if it's a normal polo from Old Navy, GAP or Izod then I just throw it in the wash and then dry it on the delicate cycle but all the polos he showed require way more care!
Best way too wash a new cotton polo is by hand using a basin (I'd recommend you measure your shirt before you wash it so you can see how much it shrinks) 1. Fill a basin just over half way with COLD water (the colder the better) and 1/2 cup of table salt and or one cup of white vinegar. 2. Once you've added all your ingredients you wanna give the water a few stirs to dilute everything. 3. Now you can add your polo but make sure you completely submerge it in the water and let it sit for 10/15 minutes. The reason why you do this is to allow the water to clean off any sizing agents and it helps to keep the colors vibrant! 4. Once it's done soaking you'll want to drain the basin and roll the shirt into a ball and push on it to force any excess moisture out.....whatever you do NOT ring the shirt out as you'll screw up the shape of the garment. 5. At this point you're going to want to refill the basin and put the polo in again to soak and remove any excess vinegar/salt. 6. Once your done with step 5 you'll want to put a large towel down on a flat surface preferably your kitchen table. Lay the polo on the table to dry. After a good 40 to 50 minutes check the polo and if need be flip it over to dry the other side. Another thing you can do is roll the towel up with the shirt to force the excess water out but be careful. 7. Now you can use the dryer to dry them faster but ONLY for 2 to 3 minutes.....NO MORE! Once you're ready to really wash the shirt you can use all the steps I mentioned except for the salt and vinegar and instead use a little mild detergent.
Good video but I do wonder why wear Olebar Brown? Shouldn't you have a polo made by John Smedley out of Sea Island Cotton. That's the real deal. Flemings Bond wore Sea Island cotton.
I have been trying to find the Tom Ford polo shirt. But all I find is the regular tom ford polo shirt with no breast pocket. Do you happen to know the exact model?
Great vlog David. Thanks. Just a couple of things that relate to this vlog. I have a Barbour Beacon jacket, I ordered a size large, buried me, despite me being a medium. So, ordered the medium, great fit. Also thank you for your comments about buying an NPeal jumper.
Cool explanation. I love Polos, in terms of material quality, I have tried a lot of different ones and finally I like the Micro Fiber Polos. Why? Because you can wash them so many times without looking washed out after a certain time. Also the feel on the skin, it’s like Silk. Aloha
This is a good video. I have to point out one error that the host makes about the Four F's: the term "Fashion" as it is used refers to how well a garment has been put together, how well it has been "fashioned". This manifests in the details of construction. It does not refer to "fashion" as an expression of current clothing trends, even though the host makes a good point about choosing what works best for you rather than wearing what is popular at the time.
I've just bought a simlar polo shirt from H&M but ofcourse I've been on a diet and my arms aren't as big as yours. I did think about buying a small but went for a Medium.
David, everything you wore fit perfectly. And I'm a heterosexual man saying that, for the record. Your final statements said everything (not "or nothing"), mainly that it's how we feel, ultimately. But you need to give yourself more credit. I'd consider you in everyday Bond shape. The relative difference between you and Craig is 2-3 weeks of hardcore exercise and diet that celebrities kick into gear before the shoot. Props, my friend!
Saving you all 29 odd minutes, basically wear your polo shirts a size down presuming you got that slim/athletic build of Bond. For everyone else hit the gym.
The best fitting pieces you have are the Orlebar Brown ones, but I am a little biased because I have some pieces myself and are the ones that fit me the best. Great video!!
Subscribed For the simple fact that you zeroed in on the polo. And I loved the way Daniel Craig’s clothes fitted him in his first Bond film. He had very primal aesthetic athletic build in CS. And I knew that I wanted to emulate that style for myself. Bravo good Sir.

Update : there is a significant size diff between a Medium and Large in the Sunspel Riviera polo. Large is ok but a bit “flowy” on me like your Tom Ford polo. Medium makes me look like a sausage. 😂 Already owned one in large and looks like that’s where I’ll stay till getting in better Bond shape. For reference if anyone else is interested - 6’3”, 190, 40” chest and 34-35”waist.
🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧xx am a new subscriber i saw you on this morning in England. James bond reminds me of my dad and growing up in the 70s when i was just a little girl and been at home with my brother and sisters my dad would always watch James bond with us all has a family mostly around Christmas time because in them days in england we only had 3 or 4 channels .really good memories 😊 thank you for the vlog
Perfect fit on the polos and jackets! (except on the Tom Ford's polo from Quantum of Solace). Also, you're in great shape and that helps a lot, so congrats on this because it is not easy to do so. Cheers!
I'm just 8 minutes into this video and noticed something that has blown my mind! I have never seen a decent polo in my country (New Zealand). They all have far too long sleeves (aka the "Weakling" Sleeve, purposely built for hiding thin arms) and lots of them look like they are made for obese beer drinkers. Yuk! Consequently I've avoided them like the plague! So now I'm gonna attempt to locate a decent fitting (but affordable) polo with a properly short sleeve.
Great content as always! I notice that you mention you’re wearing size Small for the Sunspel polos, yet the pictures show size Medium on the collar label. Are you sure it was size Small for Riviera and the banded one?
Orlebar Brown do great cut t-shirts/polos and yes…they get the arms right! But if you are…ahem…a bit apple shaped, they’re not going to work for you. They are cut for “fit” people. I’m 40” chest 30” waist but I need to go Small with OB. They look great though.
Regarding the Tom Ford QoS Polo shirt....Screen-accuracy is good and all, but I can't help but feel that the shirt reminds me of a Sunspel that's been put into the dryer at the wrong setting, and that it had shrunken and stretch in the mid-section something fierce. But I want to thank you for putting together a almost 30mins long video of the most comprehensive Bond style clothing vlog one can hope for. Your efforts and hard work is most definitely appreciated by the greater Bond community David! Salute!
Goodevening David, I really enjoy the vlogs. Could we also see your literature collection or 'What to read to live the Bond Experience', and other sources of knowledge or self improvement?
I have been following you for several years, and you actually look a lot better now than back when you started. I suspect clothes fit better on you now, because you have lost fat and gained muscle.
Insane those polo shirts are close to $500 i could get a suit at suitsupply for that or for two of these shirts i could get a custom tailored suit or leather jacket. that said i bet they must be super soft and last years?
6:15 the way you build ...you say... dont forget that the way (we) build (and the work behind: eat train sleep - repeat ) is to much effort for the most guys btw thx for the orlebar info. (i weare polos from aeronautica, same cut.)
The people at EON who are responsible for styling Daniel Craig, always get it absolutely spot on. Also they're not looking at what will look good now, they're looking at what will look good next year. Daniel Craig's Bond has by far had the best styling. All his clothes look great, and haven't dated at all. I only bought by Barbour Dept. B jacket last year from Skyfall , last year and it still looks great.
"Daniel Craig's Bond has by far had the best styling". "haven't dated at all". Do you consider Craig's outfits the best because they haven't dated (that's a cheap shot really considering Craig's films are the most current) and is following current trends when it comes to suits imperative to you when judging style? That seems like a case of begging the question to me. From a purely tailoring perspective, Craig is far from the best - I mean he wears ready-to-wear Tom Ford suits with lapels that break in the middle, collars that are gapping and that dreaded x silhouette at the buttoning because the suit is so skin-tight. I don't judge him for that, I think if he had the chance, he would have chosen otherwise, but modern Bond films must include promotion of some sort. Sean Connery's Anthony Sinclair bespoke suits will age much better, the proportions, the fit and the cut are all something you could wear proudly 50 years ago just as much as today.
The coolest thing about Bond is he looks great without giving a damn what anyone else thinks. A good life lesson for us all.
Good example of that is in one of the worst Bond films, "Die Another Day", where he walks into a 5-star hotel looking like a homeless man but is still the coolest guy in the room
Umm, I think Bond is very self conscious in all seriouness.

Awesome, you explain all things very well. Glad I found this channel.
The thumbnail image center one ! Which movie is that ? And what’s the shoes bond wearing ?
The best fitting pieces you have are the Orlebar Brown ones, but I am a little biased because I have some pieces myself and are the ones that fit me the best.
Great video!!
I have been enjoying your channel and this was just perfect! I liked exactly the way your shirts fitted! Just perfect! Well done!!
Good advice! I hate those loose fit on the arms!

For the simple fact that you zeroed in on the polo. And I loved the way Daniel Craig’s clothes fitted him in his first Bond film. He had very primal aesthetic athletic build in CS. And I knew that I wanted to emulate that style for myself.
Bravo good Sir.
With due respect, can I say that I think your polo is excellent looking and fitting but its a an inch to inch and a half too short.
That Toweling jacket looked so good!
HI DAVE, GREAT BLOG JUST A QUICK ? 'PERSOL SUBGLASSES WORN BY D G IN CASIBNO ROYLE GO FOR INSANE PRICES ON EBAY AND OTHER SELLING OFFER SITES. WILL PERSOL EVER BE RETURN RUN OF THESE ICON SUN GLASSES EVER GOING TO BE AVAIBLE AGAIN FOR LESS THAN £400 $ ? CAN YOU HELP
Sunspel polo fits me well, I stand 6’0 1/2”, broad shoulder.
Superb Video.
Great content David! Just ordered a diff color Sunspel polo and trying a downsize per your tips. Will see how it goes. 🤞
Let me know how it turns out.
Update : there is a significant size diff between a Medium and Large in the Sunspel Riviera polo. Large is ok but a bit “flowy” on me like your Tom Ford polo. Medium makes me look like a sausage. 😂
Already owned one in large and looks like that’s where I’ll stay till getting in better Bond shape. For reference if anyone else is interested - 6’3”, 190, 40” chest and 34-35”waist.
What will you do when the new Bond is a woman. ? Lol
Did you have to send it back? 😂😂😂
answer is at 1:58
🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧xx am a new subscriber i saw you on this morning in England.
Is that Omega seamaster you got on your wrist ??
Great content as always! I notice that you mention you’re wearing size Small for the Sunspel polos, yet the pictures show size Medium on the collar label. Are you sure it was size Small for Riviera and the banded one?
What's the name of that specifik polo-shirt? I've been looking for that one for so long!
Hit me up when you found it, Ive been looking for that too
Cool videos, we need to develop a good standard for life, and your show teaches good standard of being, how nice to have Bond as a role model.
Funny banter, fantastic vlog, fun subject, fabulous polo collection
Thanks so much!
Black looks good on you . Pink washes you out mate .
Charcoal would look better
Who makes that shirt?
The best to do is have class and dress with things that doesn't go out of style. A W
That remixed James bond theme playing in the background is fire. 🔥🔥
Forgot the 5th F...Ford as in Tom Ford since it seems the majority of Bonds wardrobe is Tom Ford. Jeans, polos, suits, tux, etc.
Ford makes very nice clothing. Not cheap though.
What type of pants do you suggest with a polo shirt -
I love wearing them with chinos, but its always interesting to dressy them up by wearing them with nicer pants, like greys....
Orlebar Brown do great cut t-shirts/polos and yes…they get the arms right! But if you are…ahem…a bit apple shaped, they’re not going to work for you. They are cut for “fit” people. I’m 40” chest 30” waist but I need to go Small with OB. They look great though.
I see now that one must be in shape in order to get the best possible effect! It just doesn't work if you are built badly.
Salute!
Tosca is not for everyone... :)
Why not tuck the polo-shirt inside the trousers?
Daaaamn, you got the same clothes ,the same hair cut ,you juste need the guns and the target 😂😂Keep up the good work👍👍
whats your height?
Goodevening David,
I really enjoy the vlogs. Could we also see your literature collection or 'What to read to live the Bond Experience', and other sources of knowledge or self improvement?
Let me give it some thought.
Dave, just subscribed. Great video. What watch are you wearing? Thanks
Very good video, thank you for posting it.
6:15 the way you build ...you say... dont forget that the way (we) build (and the work behind: eat train sleep - repeat ) is to much effort for the most guys
btw thx for the orlebar info. (i weare polos from aeronautica, same cut.)
I have 0 idea about fashion. Do you wear a white t-shirt under a polo? Sorry if this is a dumb question :/
All of those shirts looked great dude.
Spot on ! Please do the same with suits
ty Devin Weston from GTA V :)
Love the Goldeneye music in the background!
Yao the intro killed me hahahha
incorporate shoes and pants into it please! I'm fully invested into this but im fashionably inept
Actually Excellent Research
Lol I am surprised and amazed how the algorythm sugested this video to me :D
Love your passion and enthusiasm
The N. PEALE cashmere polo is my choice-very nice...
It will be in my collection soon.
Cashmere?
The people at EON who are responsible for styling Daniel Craig, always get it absolutely spot on. Also they're not looking at what will look good now, they're looking at what will look good next year. Daniel Craig's Bond has by far had the best styling. All his clothes look great, and haven't dated at all. I only bought by Barbour Dept. B jacket last year from Skyfall , last year and it still looks great.
They do get it right....
I don’t know about getting it right - more like getting it too tight in the case of Craig.
Is that the GE watch theme?!
