  • Meet @makingwith_maggie she is the new co-host of my RUclips channel. Maggie has a solid background in woodworking and production. She is also kinda vertically limited. This presents some fun challenges because I have design my shop for a 6ft 2inch person. Which means we need to start making all our tools storage solution with her height in mind. So I designed this Folding Cordless Tools Storage and Charging Station do that it would be easy for her to reach and still be able to utilize the the taller wall space we have in the woodworking shop.

Great build, guys. This opens up a bunch of possibilities for upper level storage cubbies (maybe for lesser used items), even if you ARE taller than Maggie. My shop has walls pushing 12', but the utilization of the top portions always require step ladders. Not ideal, or elegant.
She will certainly be a great asset for the channel. Look forward to the next build.

Probably the best compact with the most tools storage system I've seen or thought of!! Great Job and loved the bungee dampening system. The only thing I "might" have done different is put thin Delrin washers between the ply cantilevers and use nylocks (just my typical Motis). Always a treat to see excellent designs come together and be so functionally efficient and clean! Thanks Izzy and Maggie!! Hat Tip, ~PJ

I had the same problem in my basment (work shop & household storage areas) my wife is vertically challenged, so floor to ceiling storage is still the way I went but I also installed a sliding library ladder with rails. Most of her stuff is put lower but things rarely used (Xmas lights, and other holiday stuff) are put high. A happy wife happy life.

Welcome to the Maker's Playground, Maggie. Hope to see you and your making efforts on the app. I see that Izzy had to push the charger shelf back up for you. What if instead of a strap to pull it down ya'll incorporated a dowel as a handle mounted with some type of hinge or swivel hook on it so you could use it to both pull the shelf down and push it back up?

"Words are hard"... yanno Izzy, I've never noticed you struggle with that before...
... before you had a drop-dead gorgeous, badass woman with her own copious supply of power tools, coupled with a more-than-adequate supply of skills to use of all of them. Is what I'd meant. Not that I think that's a factor, the stunning lady who's sharing your shop henceforth. I mean, why would it?
You probably got some lumber whose sawdust is a sensitizer. Cocobolo can make your tongue go numb if you're sanding it without a respirator. So can yew.
I mention this because you should be careful. Not least because SOME of those tools are still too high up for the beautiful shop partner you've just acquired to reach.
Regardless, congratulations to you both: Izzy for finding such an ideal match for your creative genius, and Maggie for finding someone to share a shop who's so sensitive and attentive to your needs! I've no doubt you'll both make beautiful mechanisms together! Mazel tov!
