I love this song, it's so unlike a typical RPG battle song. It feels like it's easing you into a dream and then slowly you realize you're in a nightmare
It's such good battle music, yeah! I can leave the game in the background for so long while completing other tasks or figuring out what to do and not ever get tired of it. Really embodies the technical and methodical terror of a battle, of a raw and vicious fight and figurontout exactly what you have to do to stay alive. Slowly becoming overpowered by your fear.
I have this with fucking *"white boy rips it at the opollo"* and I have no fucking clue why it's not even a fucking song if I visit the F&H dungeons I would become more sane
Levi takes a low stance with his rifle... Marina lifts her hands gently. Abella whips out a wrench with a serious expression on her face. Daan carefully handles his scalpal. Osaa begins his ritual dance. An ominous aura fills the air. Olivia tries to prepare for a fight... Karin cocks the gun and takes it in a firm grip. Marcoh takes a boxing stance and looks very focused. Samarie slowly creeps around you... Tanaka is cautiously measuring you from afar... Henryk pulls out a kitchen knife. Caligura swings his pipe furiously. August takes an arrow and slowly but firmly loads his bow. Pav whips out his pistol faster than you're able to react!
"..." "... I don't want to do this, but fine." “Your talking days are over! You're dead!” “Let's slice and dice. No? I thought that's something you say in situations like this.” “Let's see how the stars align... Looks like it's your time to go my friend.” “You think this is a fair fight!? Why are you doing this!?” “I've killed before too. Don't think for a second that I wouldn't have guts to use this pistol.” “Fine. Give it your best.” "..." “I don't know just what you are trying to pull, but know that I'm prepared to answer violence with violence!” “It's come down to this. No hard feelings.” “Get ready to die you fucking piece of shit." “Only one arrow. That is all I need. “Too slow! Too slow!”
I love that this track starts with that lone drum hit, followed by that sort of eeerie twinkling sound. It's an immediate sense of danger and something being VERY wrong.
I will always have a soft spot for the combat ost’s in the Fear & Hunger games. They’re always immediately striking and tense, but never so intrusive that it’s hard for me to think. Even tracks like Pulse & Anxiety are just quiet enough that I don’t feel overstimulated.
I think its because Inon Zur(the composer for Fallout 3/ New Vegas) used a lot drones, atmosphere, and instruments with no consistent beat(or very little) for the music that plays while you traverse the world(but enemies haven't initiated attack mode). I think its to keep a steady tension. I think Termina does the same thing while you're waiting to see what the enemy will do during battle.
@@rebirth4119 I think they were referring more to Mark Morgan from Fallout 1 and 2, but you're not wrong about Inon Zur. In all fairness though the most obvious inspiration is Akira Yamaoka. It has that specific melancholic tone with industrial sampling.
I know exactly why! This track sounds a lot like Grass by Aphex Twin, which was essentially plagiarised (among many other tracks) by the composer for the original two Fallout games. He edited Grass into "City of Lost Angels", which is a common ambient track in both the two games. I'm not saying this track sounds or is plagiarised at all, but you can definitely hear the influence of Grass/City of Lost Angels on Breath of the Moon and both of those songs are essentially the same song.
The fact that the fight theme is this dreadful, stress inducing and irregular is great. This isn’t a Pokémon battle between two friendly rivals nor like Undertale where a misguided and ignorant monster attacks you. This is usually a lunatic, driven mad by the moon, someone who can’t be reasoned with (apart from that one enemy), it’s either you or them, and one slip up on your end will mean your doom.
@@Mijaboc980only the vile, you dont reason with him, judt make him take off his mask due to frustration which kills him because hes close to his own fumes
@@Mijaboc980There are a couple of enemies you can reason your way of of a fight if you know what to say and have the right skills. The first hostile moonschorched can be intimidated into a truce and the lonesome ratkin can be reasoned with.
If you notice, this piece is almost fully percussionistic, with some drones in the backgraund, yet different sounds are out of sync with each other. I really like how polyrhytms are used in the soundtrack, really creates a sense of disorientation
The music fits this game absolutely perfectly. When I heard this in the game for the first time I just had to stop and listen. It makes fighting even more tense, and I love it. Never thought I’d fall in love with a horror RPG, like Kodelka and parasite Eve, but I really love this game. Thanks for reviving my love for games :)
I love this track. I think it's perfect for the festival of the moon god. Weirdly enough, it reminds me of certain Stardew Valley songs, the summer ones, with these long dragged sounds that give the idea of being under the sun's scorching haze. In this case the song is also a little eerie since it's the moon's evil radiating light.

For many of us, this was the woodsman ost on our first playthrough.
...And it was also our last OST for that playthrough. XD
The Marcoh in question:
For me it was a random moonscorched villager
Woodsman gets hit with "A terrifying presence has entered the vicinity" when Marcoh or Abella go to his hut
This soundtrack sounds like a heartbeat going out of control, starting to panic.
Absolutely love how this theme immediately conveys danger. Loving the game, playing it right now.
Breath of the moon actually goes hard af though. One of the best osts in the funger series
This song is too good for its own good, really hope to hear something similar in a future fear and hunger
