Claudio, congrats on your new venture. I know it’s tough, but try not to be intimidated by the competition down the street. As customers come in, that is your OPPORTUNITY to win them over. Kill them all with your kindness! You’re just getting started and you are learning/making adjustments daily (sometimes hourly) to your business. Keep your chin up, because you’ve come so far already. In a year, two or three from now you will look back and smile. Thank you for making these videos, as I am seriously considering going into the laundry business myself. You’ve opened my eyes to the reality of what is not shown on YT. We are all rooting for you brother!
Big thanks for the encouragement. I'm glad you said this. I see so many people only talk about how great the business is. I like to give the whole picture and allow the viewer to make an educated discussion on if this is something they want. So thank you!
Hi again Claudio, I am happy to see you got your store opened and making money. I remember collecting my first time and how good a feeling it was doing something for yourself, being your own boss definitely feels great. I have some advice in regards to your washer vend cost. I handed out flyers about a week before I opened, 500 or so to the close neighborhood that had been awaiting for my location to re-open after being closed for 6 months. I took the price of my washers of what I was planning on charging by $1.00 per wash, which was the exact same pricing as it was for the run down and older machines of the nearest competition for 2 months as a promotion until the end of the year (Nov 1 - Dec 31), and then raising the pricing back $1.00 more in the new year, putting me slightly more expensive than my closest competitor, but not too expensive that it would scare people away. Customers understand that there is a cost to have new machines and a clean location, at at $1.00 more per washer, my customers were ok with it, and I am sure yours will too. You can even educate your customers and tell them that older machines are much more likely to rip/tear their clothes than a newer machine would, and if your washers are like my new ones, they basically come out dry before they even go into the dryer, taking less time and lowering the cost of the dryer, balancing out how much your customer spends altogether, as I am sure his dryers are terribly inefficient and probably cost 3X amount to dry the same as your new machines. Hopefully you figure it all out, and hit me up with a DM if you want to chat more about what I have learned and what I have done in my short 3 months of being open. I'm learning as I go and have had great success in foot traffic each month as word of mouth has been great for my location.
Congrats, Brother! You are on your way... Don't fixate on the low ball competition. Focus on delivering the "CLAUDIO SPECIAL" You have one thing over that "Mega Competitor"... YOU! Get out there into the community, shake hands, hand out flyers.help old ladies home with their groceries. Soon, you will be charging profitable prices and people will be leaving the Mega Douche to come and wash with you. Get some TV's on the wall and start selling ads.
Glad to see you’re up and running, all your hard work and determination paid off. If your giant competitor sees you as a threat there’s a couple things that might happen, undercut your prices, or buy you out. If he buys you out you may make a big pay day.
Glad to see you make it to the finish line! Just pissed to hear about the pricing competition😡 Hope wash n fold makes a difference. Give it time for word of mouth to spread or on weekends when he’s busy you might slowly pick up customers from down the street who end up valuing a cleaner spacious atmosphere willing to pay a buck more but most of all, you are in the game👍🏽
Good question. If he would double his prices he could still turn a profit. More money and less wear n tear on his machines. But it's not my business to tell him how to run his business. Hopefully we can both be successful in the area.
What I hate about EZWash is that they have taken over almost allll of the zombiemats in San Antonio. So its quite difficult to find a rundown laundromat thats not owned by them. There are lots of other higher priced laundromats her in SA that are close to EZ wash that do well. Keep your head up!
It's almost at a break even point with just the self service side. I've learned that being the cheapest Laundromat in town will draw a certain kind of customer But having a clean and safe Laundromat will draw a better kind of customer.
People will pay more for the new machines and a clean place. You need people using the big washers. Hope he has a lot of out of order machines and the people decide to try you. The place looks good. You may check those washers that had one quarter to make sure the coin acceptor is good.
I realized that I forgot to collect them after the video. I also forgot the extra stuff like soap. The answer is... I don't know lol. I threw everything into the bucket( only had one bucket at the time) I'll do another more detailed breakdown in the next money collection video.
Well, it’s better than nothing. It’s helpful for you to separate your income by size of machine. That way you can figure out your turns by size and hopefully, one day, raise your prices. And not to rain on your parade but, the wash and fold business is quite different and much more difficult than self serve laundry. About the only thing in common is dryers. The customers are different, wash formulas are different, and your labor costs are enormous. Trying to use Danny’s idea of “contract” workers is difficult to do legally. They’re really employees. And when someone gets hurt or upset with you, you’re going to regret it. You’ll have to pay all the back taxes, workers comp, maybe some penalties, I don’t think it’s worth the gamble. You are in a tough spot. Good luck.
It sure is better than nothing. I plan on keeping the wash, dry and fold. I agree that it's a different animal but if done right it can make all the difference.
@@justinvestclaudio can you do a vid on your WDF? And talk about contracted employees if you have any? Just curious about pros and cons from your perspective.

Thanks Ron! I did have to lower my prices but I noticed a lot more people in the mat today. Hopefully business stays busy.
Congrats man! Glad its paying off for you!
Thanks James I appreciate that 😊
Much respect for you, my friend.
Thank you 🙏🏼
Wow, that sucks, regarding pricing. I noticed a lot of mats for sale in Houston.
It does suck and you're right about that. Houston is a huge city so lots of mats go up for sale. I feel sorry for the people in San Antonio.
He owns 60 stores but how many of those stores are decaying?🤔

Yes it is. I seen that they pretty much own the San Antonio area.
Now that you're a few months in. Is the laundromat meeting your expectation in profit even with having a large competitor down the street?
It's almost at a break even point with just the self service side.

Holy shit thats a large store, where are you located?

Is he the owners ofEz wash laundromat
Is it EZ wash?!
I'm dying to know.... How much did the dryers make?

Machines look legit!!!
Thanks, also I'm working on setting up an email so you can get in contact with me.
How much are you making weekly now?
@Dave_Menz_p4p_number_1 I don't talk about how much I make. The laundromat does make a profit tho, it pays off all it's expenses.

Sorry to be blowing up your comments section like this. I just have so many questions 😀
Ask all that you can, knowledge is power.
You made on very important mistake in this video when you said.... "You can't compete with cheap"... Yes you absolutely can.. With quality and safety.
I hope that I was mistaken about that. Hopefully I can win the community over with better service.
Yeah he has bill boards up advertising 50 locations. I know exactly who you are talking about. Most of the locations are shit.
Are you from the San Antonio area? Yeah he has about 5 stores here in Houston.
@@justinvestclaudio yeah I’m from south Texas. I know Danny visited one of his locations when he was in San Antonio and wanted to scout.
Or ask them to take care of the guy that took care of you!.
Claudio, do you have an email I can reach you on?
Not yet but I'll get something going soon.
