The Mayang Hypermall is closed and abandoned due business mismanagement and bank failure to release loans as per agreement therefore the business owners are unable to sustain the business and have gone bust. I leave just 5min walk from this mall and I have never heard stories about the mall being haunted nor any suicidal case and rape case as being reported. This is a totally baseless story.
For the Perda Mall the place is started of as land leasing agreement between Aeon which is the building developer and the mall owner and the local council. The tenancy stated the owner of the building will have 10 years of land leasing period for free and the building ownership is being released after the end of 10 years as a form of leasing payment. During the construction there is some political affiliation involvement which forces the building owner to use development contractor that is NOT their choice. Due to corruption of the contractors the building itself have issues from day one. Some examples, soil sinking, external wall crack, flooding under grow sewage, HVAC failure. It's all due to poor engineering and shody work a result of corruption. The building owner knew about the problem and has set work to move their business operations to another new mall which is fully constructed by them and fully owned by them till today. The Perda Mall later years of fate is doom to close due to the several reasons:
    1) The building foundation itself is a problem which requires a lot of cost to be fixed and to maintain.
    2) With the size of the mall itself there is no many companies of that time that are capable of managing the tenancy. Econsave is just a supermarket operations company and is not ready to manage a mall that size.
    3) The location itself is not very popular for business.
Again it is not because of any ghostly stories that cause the building to be abandoned. Don't believe in those fake stories.

Shih Chung clip comes from my video. They added some snowy effect. I won't blame them for stealing because Penang, and more so, our whole country, really doesn't respect heritage landmarks. Once a building is destroyed by fire or merged with the forest, there's nothing left to do but to steal from any source available. This is why, instead of shooting Instagram and Tiktok videos of themselves, people should learn to shoot videos of historic places.
Although I do appreciate it when my video is used by a channel, they'd at least have the courtesy of giving me some credit.
