@@NatRuane-o9g Very funny. No, The Murgatroyd is alive and well. Just very busy with work at the moment. She'll be making a return soon!

It's actually not a bridge over the duddon that is damaged but one of the Becks that flow through Bootle. Idiot in an oversized psv. Hope it's his insurance that is paying for the damage.
Great view from the junction near the stone circle. You can actually see Blackpool tower on a good day and of course further on you can potentially see the isle of man when it's clear.

@@MightyGuruYoghourt hey no worries. Just for your information.
Where you can come off the 595 at the duddon bridge end there is a really early ironworks that's partly restored. Okay it's minimal.
Formerly to that there had been a really early water powered sawmill. The old mill race can be just about be made out but nothing else remains.
Have you been up the road past the blacksmith arms yet? Amazing scenery. Can't remember where it goes or if it's a dead end but some side roads lead off towards torver and coniston.

@@richardlee2488 Margaret told me about the ironworks this morning. I'll check it out soon. The road past Blacksmith's comes out near Ulpha does it not?

@@MightyGuruYoghourt it's maybe 20 years that I went up there last time so really can't remember. If it goes far it must connect with the roads around birker fell. All are a joy of discovery.
The old fox field to coniston railway has a bit of interest for some with old station buildings through woodlands and other tiny Hamlets. Including the viaduct which you can find off the side road just south of Broughton in Furness. Too many fantastic little lanes that visitors miss out on as they head to the likes of Ambleside and coniston.
