- In this video , we decided to pay a visit to this regional airport to document what we could see in the publicly accessible areas of the airport. I was recording near the end of the ticketing area of the terminal & noticed the bags on the conveyor belt along with one of the doors which had signage stating that beyond the door was a restricted area. I was soon approached by one of the employees of the airport, questioning why I was recording in the particular direction that I had my cameras pointed towards. He eventually walked off without any further incident. A short time later Airport police was in the area, already interacting with my partner who I was documenting with. He apparently felt the officer wasn't being polite. I didn't see or hear what happened so I can't confirm exactly what might have been said. At this moment I figured it would be a good opportunity to play the "good cop/ bad cop" angle with the office & engage him with cordial conversation to ease over any tension there might have been. From my vantage point I didn't hear any directives from law enforcement that we weren't allowed to record in the airport. To see what verbal exchange took place between @sidewalks22 & the officer, you'd have to tune in to his channel to see his footage.

Cop's that think like this are a major problem. When someone is not breaking the law the only reaction should be none.

Why do some folks feel the need to know what other people are doing? I was 6-7 y/o
when I learned the purpose of a camera. A person who asks another person what they are doing with a camera has some sort of mental deficiency.

Human beings, by the very nature of our interactions, are looking for reactions. When we tell a joke, we want the reaction to be laughter. When we talk to someone we generally look for a reaction of a response of talking, leading to a conversation. When we yell at someone, we want the reaction to be that we have been heard. When we cry, we want a reaction of empathy, compassion and perhaps a friendly shoulder. When a teacher gives a lecture, they want the reaction to be listening and learning. So when someone accuses you of "just looking for a reaction", remind them this is what humans do.

It amazes me that they bother auditor at the airport for filming but don't bother with the people that r traveling but always film while waiting for the plane to board
I'm for auditing, but you answered your own question logic really. It's what you're doing and intent. You can't just use a blanket statement to cover everything and compare one another.

You really should loudly humiliate any adult seeing someone using a camera but needing to ask what they are doing. Every 1st grader would know what you were doing. "Do you have a phone" Does it have a camera? Have you ever used the camera? Then how in the name of God do you not know what I'm doing?"

The cop was cordial, but it was funny how he was kind of like insinuating that you’re trying to get a reaction or something out of him. I mean, don’t get me wrong. You are documenting but the reaction that you record and document is 100% up to him and it can be a positive or negative , luckily the right thing was cordial.
The airport operations guy wasn’t super bad, but just funny how he thinks he can demand answers just because of his position when you’re not doing anything wrong.

Officer Dan is pretty chill but I agree with the stereotyping on both ends but left as a mutual understanding about giving the energy back as you were treated likewise. He's good egg! Now with Sidewalks, he needs to back off a little. You did well on this audit, handling the airport operations employee, being polite but firm that he does not need to know why you are video taping the luggage line.

Just had a fun audit scenario idea:
When people are asking you what you are doing, say 'I don't have to tell you, but among other things I'm recording instances of cameras being used to record you without your consent. Like that security camera over there, those three Teslas, and that dashcam.'

I would say the Officer did okay except for saying auditors are just looking for a reaction.
If we keep it up one day we will not get a reaction. That is the goal
It is NOT a ops place to express why they THINK someone is doing something. It shows their ignorance and lack of professionalism to make a derogatory comment regarding something that is perfectly legal.
